I think that due to historical ties in France it would be interesting to include Algerian food such as couscous.
I love curry and rice. Since I chose to be from another country, I don’t see it being a problem.
Alfredo Pasta, you can’t forget your Italian neighbor
Well my suggestion is fajitas.
Or you can just make a list of favourite foods, plus the option to simply enter our own.
I’ve already included the curry option, but I can change it to say curry and rice, specifically OR you can add another suggestion.
What would you prefer?
Yeah, there’s no issue. Plus, French people do eat other countries’ cuisines besides their own
Awesome!
Oh, don’t worry; there’s no way I would leave Italian food out
Nice!
There will be an option to input your own, yes, but I thought including your suggestions would be a nice way to commemorate the people who played the game in its WIP stage
Curry is fine thanks. Anyone else who wants something specific can simply enter it.
For us Brits across the Channel, how about a classic gammon steak with egg, pineapple, and chips (fries)?
You’re doing so well! Congrats!
That’s a good suggestion! But, is there a shortened name for it, maybe?
Thank you!
I guess you could shorten it to just the gammon steak, letting people imagine what else they’d like with it? Not everyone has everything else with it that I’ve added to it (that’s just traditionally what tends to go with it here in the UK); some people also have peas alongside it (or in place of the chips), for example.

That works, thanks!

Really? I didn’t realize pineapple was such a staple of British cuisine

Here in Mexico we put it on pizza, but that’s not as rare than the tendency of some to eat banana and rice together

I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s a staple of British cuisine generally - more this specific meal that I know has it added to it for (usually a slice or two).
I suppose I wouldn’t be surprised though if other meat-based meals had it offered alongside it too (I’m probably not the best person to ask though, as I’m not exactly known for my varied dish choice when eating out ).

Yeah, we Brits like putting it on pizza too (Hawaiian is one of the more popular types of pizzas in this country), though of course there are also those who’ll swear that you should never put it on pizza (I’m not one of them though, I think it’s delicious!)

Me too
Oh, something that I was thinking about and meaning to ask before was about the country where our MC can be from (and I suppose more specifically what languages we speak)?
I remember with Julia there’s an option to think to yourself when we first meet her, “hey, I’m from the US too!”. That got me thinking about how we could not only potentially be from the same country, but also speak the same language more generally.
The way I’ve being playing mostly so far is to say that I’m from the UK (where I’m from), so I thought perhaps (when we’re speaking alone with her) a, “hey, I speak English too, if that’s easier?”, could be an option as a sort of piece of flavour dialogue (maybe when talking to her about where she’s from, that’s when we could mention we’re from the same country too?)?
Something else I was also wondering about is how old roughly the MC is (or rather, if there’s a more likely age range for the MC to be in, in your opinion?)? The fact that the previous owner was happy to leave the café to us makes me think that we’re probably at least in our mid 20s? Is how old we are something that would come up at all?

That could be arranged, I suppose. I just sort of assumed that in that case it goes without saying

Yeah, I imagine the MC to be in their 20s, especially since the ROs are all in their 20s as well (plus, I’m 28, so it’s easier to write people my age )

I haven’t thought of that, but that could potentially be brought up if there is a need for it

I did as well, but I don’t think it ever specifies in the text if we’re still speaking French or not, so I just thought I’d ask? The notion that we’d still be speaking French even when alone did seem a little odd to me (though I suppose I could headcanon it as Julia wanting to get more experience with the language).

Well, that works for me, as I’m only slightly younger than you (not too hard for me to roleplay as someone in their 20s)

No problem, it’s a fair question! I’ll include something like this for scenes where Julia/n is alone with the MC (most likely during the hospital scene in chapter 2)
Since Germany is right next door and has had a bit of impact on France in the past, how about Jaegerschnitzel with Spatzle? A good, hearty dish.
