New Update — Chapter Improvements, Save System, and Chapter Four Begins
Hey everyone, I’ve made a pretty big round of updates to the game based on feedback and things I noticed while replaying and testing it.
The biggest addition is a new manual save system. You can now create your own named saves instead of only relying on the automatic save at the beginning of each chapter. This should make it much easier to return to important choices, try different paths, or continue without losing your progress.
I also went back through the earlier chapters and made several improvements:
-
Expanded and cleaned up a number of scenes
-
Improved the pacing and transitions between important moments
-
Made Thomas feel more consistent while still showing his softer and more human side
-
Added more opportunities to ask Thomas questions about his past, his knighthood, and his connection to the protagonist’s family
-
Improved the development of your friendship with Reimond or Miriam so it feels like the relationship grows naturally over time
-
Reworked some dialogue so Reimond and Miriam feel like separate characters instead of always saying the same things
-
Adjusted several stat increases so choices feel more balanced
-
Corrected character ages, heights, descriptions, and continuity issues
-
Removed or rewrote scenes that no longer fit the direction of the story
-
Fixed ChoiceScript errors and tested the current game through Randomtest and Quicktest
Chapter Three has also been expanded with more character development, training, conversations, and preparation for the protagonist’s first real mission.
The beginning of Chapter Four has now been added as well. The protagonist and their companion arrive at a small town already close to violence, where an argument between two merchant families is beginning to spiral out of control. The player will be able to decide whether to intervene, observe the situation, or handle the confrontation another way. This chapter will focus on investigation, diplomacy, player choice, and the growing fear surrounding magic.
Thank you to everyone who has read the story, left feedback, or pointed out problems. The game is still a work in progress, but these updates have made the opening chapters much stronger and brought the story closer to the direction I originally imagined.
