@Sophia i don’t know why but … I want to do the opposite of what the Queens wants me to do.
He holds no opinion at the moment, but there will be something that will change his mind and I can’t spoil.
That’s what other people want to do.

I had notice that the scene when my main character asked Mellissa about who she would like to marry (before she knew i am the 2nd prince), she would normally answer " Perhaps a knight …" , the only time she answered “Perhaps a Mage…” was when i fail my training session of a sword fight with Javi ( well, when i was a baby i call him jabi jaber javi anyway )… i felt it was a bit strange because even though i win the sword fight with Javi, my overall Magic was still much higher than Blades, Magic 18 and Blades 11… and i perform the magical flower trick to impress Mellissa , so i would have thought Mellissa should realise i am more fluent towards Mage than Knight 
… To be honest, in my first play-through i only realise Mellissa love me was because she answer “Perhaps a Mage… " , since Mage is apparently rare in the kingdom and it is not common for a noble lady to choose a Mage ( who usually hold no lordship in the realm ) , so her answer gave a hint on my Main character… by answering " Perhaps a knight…”, my honest feeling for my 2nd play-through was that " maybe she doesn’t like me ?" …Lol 
I remember Duke Gamish…Lol, I won his Magic Tournament during his search for a new Court Wizard, under normal circumstances , I should be his court wizard by now and Duke Gamish’s new wizard gave me a Spell Book to study … my relationship with Duke Gamish is the highest among all dukes , how ironic 
so , i should ask that what is Duke Gamish’s opinion about the next King is a Mage ? Logically speaking , thus far only Duke Gamish and Mellissa knew i am a Mage… i don’t think most dukes will willingly trust a Mage to be their new King
Well… that’s a nice surprise You actually meant my Main Character will have a child ? with Mellissa being a future Queen while Princess Sophia doesn’t love me, i wonder the child belong to me and who else ?

Ah, that is because of her adoration for knights. Melissa is your typical girl who loves romantic stories, and normally reads stories that involved the princess being saved by a brave knight.
There will actually be a scene where Melissa will talk to Clithus. Once you read their conversation, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Oh wait, mages… aren’t hated… 
It’s just that the king despises them and you know how nobles are. They must please their liege. The amount of mages in the kingdom decreased when Andus ruled over them.
Duke Gamish, however, is an exception. He seriously loves magic and his place is filled with mages that he personally welcomes. So what if you’re a mage? Delightful! He’ll absolutely love it.

Ahhhhh… So Melissa prefer Knights, she had broken my heart now that i know the truth…Lol
Melissa : " Was it true that you actually beat Prince MC the other day during practice?"
Clithus : " well…yeah, sort of… he wasn’t that bad actually , not many warriors can beat me in a fair fight to be honest, Prince MC has good potential if he is willing to train harder "
Melissa : " I thought he is destined to be one of the greatest knight of all time… i am “counting” on him to “save” me one day, but now…hmmmm " 
Clithus : " Huh ? what do you mean ? Aren’t you safe now ? "
Melissa : " Oh… nothing, it was one of those childhood dream "
MC : " Good Morning Ladies, what childhood dream ? "
Melissa : " Nothing …Prince MC, you really should get more training from Clithus if you ever want to impress a girl "
MC look at Clithus : " What was that all about ? "
I agree with @Vattena , most likely our Main character cease to exist in the sequel … assuming either MC or his/her brother reigns in a peace and harmony era where everyone has an uneventful life… but with the passing of either MC or his/her brother, chaos resumes

Doubt it, she’s a magic prodigy who squander her gift by not learning high-level (or even mid-level) spell. Case in point? She can’t even cast a barrier spell to shield herself from water. And she’s a chantless mage for goodness sake! Don’t exactly scream ‘mage is the best’ to me, I reckon she would prefer a knowledgeable MC more.

Lol… In my first play through, after i fail the blade practice with Javi (where i don’t receive a +5 to Blade), and i had chose almost every options related to Magic… Melissa’s answer was actually “…Perhaps a Mage” , after i display my magic flower to her… that’s how i got the indication that perhaps she meant my main character, but if i got the +5 to Blades, even though my Magic is still far higher than Blade, she always answered “…perhaps a knight”
But if Melissa’s inner preference is Knight, then there aren’t much we can do about it… It is the girl’s choice right ? But our main character can still train him/herself to become a Knight eventually , if the main character is aiming to please Melissa… Else, if the main character insist on becoming more Mage than Knight … Melissa most likely will comment " Ummm …you aren’t actually a Knight in shinning armour right? " Lol
Really?? I didn’t know that … Perhaps there is still chance for me and my wife after all 
Yes… Precisely, Now me and Princess Sophia can have a conversation … words about magic and arcane , cryptic language and runes that no one else know but us Mages…Lol

Would she be open to the idea, though? Her tutor don’t seem to have any success, what chance do we, someone she barely know and do not trust, have?

She will learn to trust us , if given time … in fact i chose to respect her by only kissing her cheek and still sleeps in separate chamber… if we have high perception, we will also notice that Sophia will always taste her food first before actually eating them(fear of poisoning)… there might still be a chance she will accept the marriage eventually

Give you an idea… you could summon a rabbit or deer that will speak to her or enhance the whole garden with flowers that will sing and wave to Melissa, she loves flowers… Don’t annihilate the wonderful things that Melissa loves
You forget that my main character won Duke Gamish’s Magic Tournament ? Obviously i am more talented than those mentors and yes… Clithus , i will just allow the knight to beat me over and over again until she agree to help me

Yes, but how long will it take? Those mentor has over a decade of time to teach her, yet they failed. The way I see it, you’ll have to convince Clithus to help you if you want this plan to succeed.
The only rabbit I’ll summon is the rabbit of Caerbannog…
I’d much prefer to keep my garden tranquil and peaceful, thank you very much. Besides, the whole thing would be just plain creepy and unsettling.
