Human Politics

Anonymous asked: How much do the ROs and other supernaturald at NMC know about human politics?

A lot: Cressida, Seraphina

Some: Altair, Astrid, Leon

Not much: Cyrus, Katia, Kol, Thalia, Yakov

Huh? :astonished: I would have expected Cy to know more about it, since he seems best adapted to the ordinary human world out of all the magi kids, whereas Alty seems to have been much more sheltered and may have never actually visited the human world, nevermind stayed there for an extended period of time. Which is why my mc is looking forward to introducing Alty to his mom and the human world.

I personally feel that the romances are integrated very well into the story. They’re all characters whom you can spend quite a bit of time getting to know in more casual friendship sorts of ways, and there keep being little nods to the relationship as the story goes on, so it feels like the relationship is something that’s consistently there throughout, while the characters still maintain whatever their plot significance is. It’s also highly variable in terms of how it’ll read depending on which characters you choose to spend more time with. Even when it’s just friendly interactions, we’re already seeing a different amount of content and depth of characterization across different playthroughs, which is tailored to whomever you want to spend the most time with, so that some characters will read as “major characters” in some playthroughs and “minor characters” in others. I would say that @daydreamsincolor has handled the large cast quite well. Sometimes she juggles these scenes by grouping the characters together, so that you can still focus on certain characters, but she doesn’t have to write quite as many individual scenes as others. But it’s already especially branching, and if you focus on getting to know someone in particular, you’ll to know them much more than in other routes. It’s not all focused on the dating, and this isn’t really a dating sim, so the friendship routes tend to provide similar depth.

I’m not sure where the idea that they aren’t detailed or unique comes from, as each of the romance characters, as well as some who aren’t romances, already have completely individual material which fits smoothly into the main plot. I’ve considered Keeper’s characterization and its responsiveness to player choices to be among its greatest strengths.

I personally think the RO’s are handled fine. Generally the most paths feel like a bunch of college kids dating. I.E it’s just as much about getting to know each other as it is all the deep feeling shit. - Which seemed to be how most of my friends dated when they were at that age.

I also like that we have a wide range from Leon and Astrid who just goes for it to Sera and Yakhov who take a lot longer to open up.

The fight with the gnomes also reduce health so that might have brought you too low, did you punch them or throw starbursts? In general all the other magic items aren’t useful (shield does even less damage than the gun and costs 200 to use) except for starbursts but if you keep blacking out I’m pretty sure if you have the magicare pack you wake up a few minutes later when your suitemates use it on you.

I mean I role playing characters that Hates her due all the destroyed of Mara’s life and forcing be a mage. But Now seriously is a very well designed character an believable. And somehow it seems funny if you be friends with. As my role playing character Mara hates her really really hard. And in some moments game kind implies we have a good relationship. Where I about 34% or so with her and i try to avoid her and kol. In this game is very hard drop relationship with characters. Like Mara hates both Kol and Astrid. There is no chance being negative with Kol. There is for Astrid . So how I could make clear in the end that My character doesn’t care?

I mean I want to make a new role play character that is a magician and cares so I want there is a different flavour text to care or not about him. it could be a good addition to the ending . I mean Mara wants him death. Alexiel will want save him and everything .

Well… perhaps Astrid is like the common neighbour girl who doesn’t really take heart of people bullying her  there were some comic characters who i read before , that they will stay with the protagonist who treat them rudely , Astrid 's tolerance with the antagonist had shown that she is a very kind person … much like that comic character i read who still pack her toys to be given to that male protagonist the day she move away, after the protagonist bully her the other day … well it must be that same personality they both share

As for seraphina , i think her reaction with us will change with our relationship, like she and her friends will avoid talking their plan to MC when relationship is low … hence i think it is unique each character has a different personality and tolerance level

I love Astrid’s friendship route. It reminds me of the day when me and my friends camped in High School. The fun nostalgic girly things we did together. We wasted so much money on snacks. A friend of mine actually reminds me of Astrid. They’re both so energetic and sweet. I love that the character’s personalities in KotSaM can apply to real life people that I know. They’re realistic, and they make me feel nostalgic. All the people I’ve met, talked with, befriended. In one way or another I can always connect the characters’ personalities to real life people. Sera reminds me of my best friend Olga. They’re both hardworking and academically talented.

Of course the camping trip in KotSaM does not remind me of my camping trip. Because there’s less bloodshed and Kol doesn’t freaking die

Hey yeah… the companions there are the main reason i like this game … and i love that hydra forest trip , at one time i pick to use shield and was knock off by the Hydra … surprise !! I woke up with Astrid staying at my bed and the scene was heart warming… i actually longing to be knock off again just to get that scene with Astrid , but disadvantage was Seraphina relationship will drop because i had been signal out as the person who fail the team … until now , i am still wondering whether Sera will treat failure badly in the future ? For that reason, i feel more secure with Astrid since she won’t hate me for failing her

I get annoyed sometimes in group projects when a partner drags me down or doesn’t help me. I can understand why Sera might be annoyed but c’mon, it’s a Hydra! And we’ve only known about magic for a few months. I haven’t played Sera’s romance route but I think she’ll warm up eventually in the sequel. Apparently it’s very difficult to romance Sera and Yakov. That’s why I stick with Leon. He’s upfront and affectionate :two_hearts: Apparently Leon and Astrid are the 2nd most romantic ROs (Altair scored number 1). Also I kind of don’t wanna replay the game and romance other characters because I’m so attached to leon. It’d feel like I’m cheating on him. Y i k e s. Don’t ya love it when you accidentally get emotionally attached to a fictional character? :’—)

I mean, referring to beta and now here (cause people decided to mention there’s a hidden stat to ensure you keep her romance going), but I’ve got the impression that Seraphina is bottling her emotions after the you know what. This is my opinion and could definitely be wrong, but her choosing to be logical and studious could her coping mechanism. Furthermore, she doesn’t feel like she’s in control of her destiny when she mentions she doesn’t keep secrets from the nymph secretary. So, romancing her does open her up more and hopefully, the sequel, she gets to be her own person more.

Never tried the Hunter path for her but your chances are higher if you go with the Half-Human, Half-Dragon path.

Thank you so much!

I think we need an official guide on saving Kol, especially since there seems to be so many specific variables involved. I know with RM and Potions >20 (possibly with high intelligence too, mine was >30 at this time) you can break the sigils on your restraints, but even with elemental manipulation >20 I wasn’t able to save him. Alternatively my high willpower (~30), fighting, and elemental manipulation (both >20) MC couldn’t use control magic to stop the ritual, but might’ve been able to fight their way free? I’ll have to keep playing with different stats and see what happens.

Yep for my main mc, Katia, Cressida, Yakov, and Thalia are the minor characters while Altair, Astrid, Leon, Cyrus and Seraphina are the major ones, with Kol falling right in-between.

Can’t decide between Alty and Cy. :smiling_imp:

My mc doesn’t start out liking her, but as the story progresses he does come to tolerate her, maybe they’ll even be friends again in the sequel. They used to be with the old opening, but with the new one it will take my mc a considerably longer time to warm up to her. However, if he truly hates anybody it would be his deadbeat magical dad, as that guy is the direct cause of him being kept clueless about the whole angel thing and the magical world and why he is so far behind, particularly in useful, everyday magic.

@daydreamsincolor Speaking of everyday magic (such as Astrid’s clothes resizing spell), I assume that the everyday magic others use is mostly ritual magic incantations, while we only get runes and sigils, so are incantations more of a highschool thing (which the mc has missed) then?

Ugh! My main mc really doesn’t like camping.

I don’t either. It was my first time and we did it in my friend’s backyard. It was still fun though. But it was too cold to sleep at night.

And my MC… I mean… The last time she went camping things turned out interesting. Exhibit A: the forest fire

My MC was very thankful and she befriended Astrid immediately. Sometimes I get annoyed at Astrid but I already established a character so I couldn’t break it and choose uncharacteristic options :frowning:

Leon will always be my main boy :two_hearts:

And Kol… I don’t think he can be a main because of the state he’s in. We can only look forward to the sequel.

And also I felt bad for Jaime too. This dude just wanted to get some pizza.

For mine it is mostly a maintenance issue, camping is hell on his long hair (and once the patch is in) his clothes. If he were to go on a serious camping trip he’d have to “style” his hair more like Adam from wayhaven and buy the appropriate gear. Even then he’s not a natural camper. For one stupid, “traditional” night in the woods all of that would be too much money and effort, which means he has to resign himself to being miserable.

My other mc loves camping though, used to do it frequently with his dad.

Whereas mine always took time to warm up to her, with the new prologue it just takes that much longer. Now the friendship becoming genuine instead of feigned on my mc’s part will likely happen somewhere in the sequel instead.

He is the least evil of the villains by far. In a way my mc hates Davina most of them even if he does kill Reyna in the end.

For my main mc it will be Alty for my second one it will be Cy, for me as the player I’m hopelessly torn between those two boys.
Though for both my mc I try to make the one they don’t romance their new best friend instead.
