Keeper of Life and Death (WIP, updated 10/25/25)

So I just finished the Keeper series (Book 1 and 2), and it’s fantastic. I’ll be honest, the first book felt a little off to me. The characters seemed a bit flat, and some of the big moments felt like they came out of nowhere instead of building up.

But then, Book 2… wow, the author really got into their own and made something amazing. The characters, the story, the emotional depth—it was all incredible. Loved every part of it.

And I have to talk about Astrid. It’s the first time I’ve absolutely fallen for one of the characters in these games. She’s just… amazing. She would do anything for me, and I would do anything for her, and the writing makes you feel that. It’s a shame her parents don’t seem to like my MC, but that just adds to the drama!

I so can’t wait for this third book, I delve into these worlds and I don’t want to leave, people can’t write the books fast enough  (it’s the best thing about getting into these type of books later, when I delve in there is often a second or even third book already!) love it and thanks so much to the author for creating these worlds and these books.

I’ll be very disappointed if we can’t get married to Astrid in it, honestly. That’s how invested I am!…

The only thing we know for sure is that the third game is going to end at the end of the year just like the last two. What exactly the specifics of each ending are and what we can and can’t be able to do, is intentionally left open because the author is evil and likes torturing us with teasers and maybes

YES!

I enjoyed greatly, the growth from books 1 to 3 is incredible to experience. Can’t wait to melt Nessa’s eyes off her stupid face.

Please, keep up the great work.

Ooh I wholeheartedly agree with the whole eye melting thing!

i would like to know if the scene with Haru (Keeper Akira’s son)) is supposed to happen regardless of our choice.

This is a bug, fixed thanks!

Hey, big fan of the series. Just had a question about the story progress for this (final?) book. How far along is the story? Seems like a lot has happened but we are still quite far from the conclusion. Is there a planned amount of chapters that’ll be written?

Thanks for making this series, definitely got me in to HG games when I was in high-school. Crazy to think I’m halfway through uni now.

first game was 13 chapters and second was 12, both of them ended at around April/May with an epilogue that took place a bit after that, same formula here, I guess? Although I think we’re going to get more chapters. Not to mention there’s tons and tons and tons of variables and other flavor things for the first two games that still need to get implemented into what’s already here

Is it no longer possible to kill Dominic ?

I had the same question, I couldn’t do it :0

Why would you? Dominic is a cutie who has had a shit life and was basically brainwashed. Does my mc have a bit of a double standard here after killing Reyna in the first game? Also likely, yes.

Some don’t tolerate competition :person_shrugging:

I hope there will still be a possibility to kill him.

there can only be one keeper

Personally, I like to make him a sleeper agent so that I have an in to Frostbite, but pragmatically speaking, especially as someone who may or may not have violently murdered Reyna while in the midst of a breakdown (allegedly), sometimes you see an ongoing problem and you just gotta make the solution permanent. That philosophy’s worked for me so far at least, and it will until I find someone I can’t stab to death.

I mean being a keeper is punishment enough and with Marcella not really up to the job an un-brainwashed Dominic could take over a lot of the shitty PR duties in a possible future. My mc is not entirely altruistic, even with Dominic, since being a keeper is punishment in and of itself and the PR mess makes it even worse.

It’s not about PR and the shit that comes with being famous. It’s about power. Imo Dominic will always be a potential threat and competition. Yes, fame is annoying but not the worst thing. Letting another keeper live just so they can take over some annoying responsibilities from us is not worth the risk.

But everyone plays their MC a little differently and has different views. I really wish the author wouldn’t take away our choice regarding Dominic

Same, also my mc is killing right and left because everyone is a threat and if I kill as many frostbite members as possible, it’s a win no matter who it is.

But in all seriousness, has someone been able to? Is there a new stats check? Or is it a bug?

Admittedly this is a play style thing and not every PC is going to think the same, but the political ramifications of the thing seem like not so much a priority right now with everything else that you need to deal with

Re: killing Dominic MC will be able to kill Dominic at some point in Book 3, but the current placement in Chapter 5 is causing issues with later arcs, so I’ve disabled the option. I’ll reassess once the next few arcs are written whether it’s worth investing in letting MC kill Dominic early versus other areas.

He is a terrorist, even if you don’t kill him, hes still getting arrested and i don’t see why he deserves mercy, if its up to my keeper, Nessa Dominic (Akira?) and Marcela too if she goes after the moon artifact are getting killed
