Well it helps that my mc only picked it because it seemed to be the least bad choice as my main mc, despite having built up an impressive physique since the days he was bullied fat kid really doesn’t actually like to fight. Which is why the unicorn interaction was so refreshing, finally a magical monster encounter where we could have a non-violent resolution.
Before all of the current mess he actually wanted to eventually enter American politics in the real world. I wonder if that is still an option now?
Yeah, the mc is entirely public property due their unconventional entry into the magical world and Davina essentially dumping their files into the public domain once Reyna was through with them our mc’s never got any sort of legal rights in the magical world, including protection of privacy and their personal lives until it was far too late. . Since those presumed non magical have very few rights indeed in the magical world it was institutional bias as is made all the more clear if the mc has Lucas as their parent . Just watch how Kol and Davina’s rights get the institutional protection they do and do not deserve respectively while the mc still never got any of those considerations until it was far too late. And I actually wish my mc could have read Celosia the riot act on that one during that stupid training on Nymph Isle. It wouldn’t really change his situation but it would make him feel slightly better dumping on someone with power…and that’s not even considering Monroe’s little bit of mind control.
And in the first book at least the mc had protection of sorts by being a really uninteresting charity case student, nobody cares about your info being in the public domain as long as you’re a regular Joe Schmoe…but now I can imagine it is absolute hell for the mc.
Fortunately now Marcela has entered the picture and due to not every sordid detail of hers already being in the public domain that leaves much more room for speculation about her even beyond her being the new and interesting thing.
Still I’m willing to bet that due to her actually growing up in the magical world her schedule is still lighter than the mc’s.
Maybe she won’t get mind-controlled by Monroe then, eh?
Dear Delacroix is a blessing and book 2 just keeps getting better. Solanceae students are just jealous because New World Magi Academy’s name can actually be pronounced. It’s been 2 years since the first book released and I still can’t remember how to spell Solanceae from the top of my head.

Very sad but very true haha, it’s gonna be interesting seeing the contrast as well as the similarities in how MC and Marcela are treated as new Keepers. Then again, Marcela has her fair share of stuff going on what with her being a recent victim of kidnapping.

Well Marcela seems to be getting the full rights in addition to the obligations from the outset and she never has the whole “whoops I actually summoned a demon thing” hanging like a sword of Damocles over her head. I also presume they actually pay her from the start, while the mc is still waiting on their first, steeply reduced, paycheque. So she will probably make a lot more money of off this thing than the mc does. And when it comes to her studies she can also probably go for the actually interesting magical majors the mc did not qualify for, like spell design.
She also already knows how to do basic magic and does not utterly lack any sort of useful insight into how the magical world functions, which means that unlike the mc she might actually be able to use her keeper powers and status for something other than desperately trying to stay alive, once she gets her bearings.
Again she will probably also have much more of her own life back once she gets through the public excitement of those first 2-3 months as she doesn’t need to get the double remedial teaching the mc does with both Celosia (who doesn’t actually teach my mc much of anything) and basic magic.

All of this is just making me wonder if trauma is a prerequisite for being a keeper. Or maybe you just have to be kidnapped at some point. MC when they got kidnapped by Reyna and Marcela when she got kidnapped by Frostbite (I assume).
True, but then again, she’s being hunted by Frostbite too. I think Marcela’s going to struggle to adapt more than MC will, because at least with MC they’re kind of used to be thrown into new situations with very little training.
I suppose you could say Marcela’s experience with the magical world is both a blessing and a curse. She has the obvious benefit of knowing how to do magic and control it better than MC does, but she’s also lived a much larger portion of her life knowing what keepers are but not knowing she is one. With MC, if they screw up, they at least have the excuse of “hey, I thought I was human until a year ago”. Marcela can’t use that same reasoning.
I’m betting she did some shady stuff while she was kidnapped too. That’s probably why she seems to be working with Patil, since we all know he has a talent for covering up shady doings. Patil probably promised to make sure nobody finds out about whatever she did while she was kidnapped in exchange for her support.
@daydreamsincolor if our MC ended up killing Reyna, do the authorities know about that? If they do, wouldn’t MC have been questioned about that, or at least investigated?
I mean… being forced into it isn’t quite the same thing. Surely MC will get some sympathy? ha like that would happen Although having said that I didn’t really get the impression that anyone in the government or the secretaries held it against MC, Reyna’s pretty universally held responsible right? I just want my MC to be treated like the good boi he is.

This takes me back to the thing early in this thread where the code implied Marcela is working against the MC at some point and you can bring her around. So it’s entirely possible that she did something shady while she was kidnapped but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that she’s ultimately a good person because I’m trusting and she’s only 18 totally ignores that Reyna and her gang probably weren’t much older But yeah my sunshine boy MC is definitely gonna try to be the helpful mentor type to Marcela.
I guess my biggest question with Marcela is if she was the product of something like the Constellation project or just what’s the deal with her generally?

Well…Patil and Conti are definitely wielding it like the sword of Damocles above the mc’s head that it is…aka blackmail material, Celosia doesn’t seem to care, Monroe doesn’t seem to know. I mean that’s not exactly encouraging, but then my mc lacks the sunny disposition yours has. Since he was toying with the idea of possibly entering politics in the normal world he has some idea how politicians tend to operate and he knows they’re ready to own any of his successes, should he have any from now on, and put him out on a limb whenever it is convenient for them and there is not a whole lot he can do about it, as he doesn’t have much in the way of allies, money or influence in the system.
Considering how they made the mc I wouldn’t put them above it. But adopted or no, at least Brant didn’t get dumped by his rich daddy, but then the mc with Isabella does seem to have the worst possible excuse for a sperm donor.
Still I’m glad that that is the one secret my mc does still have mostly to himself on the simple account that he genuinely didn’t know who his sperm donor was back when Davina and Reyna stole his files.
The question is when will he find the time to do that?
Anyway mine wouldn’t since Marcela already knows more about magic and the magical world than he probably ever will there’s nothing he could teach her that she didn’t already learn ages ago . And he doesn’t yet trust her enough to share the one thing he does know about this whole keeper mess being the sordid details of the Constellation project .
And anything specific that she might for some inconceivable reason want to know about him she can just look up, as it’s all there in the public domain, courtesy of Davina.
The timeline and Nova Labs involvement seem to fit…but like I said if she doesn’t already know or suspect then my mc doesn’t trust her well enough to volunteer those details.

But in all seriousness Alty’s fight to eventually persuade my mc to have/adopt kids just got a little more uphill, as my mc would want neither the tabloids nor magi secret service anywhere near them!
Which means paying for their own private protection/security details, which Alty could probably afford but my mc even with keeper compensation cannot, which in turn would make him feel like even more of a worthless provider, especially since he’d be the one putting them all in constant danger in the first place…etc, etc,
@daydreamsincolor I encountered another bug for the magician route. In chapter 5 under reynaAppears, I was given the option to use telekinesis and I shouldn’t have been. Also, in the scene with Rachel and her mother, “parents” is used in the text. Since my playthough was with Isabella as the mom, I was confused and thought Lysander was also present.
@Fay 0,5 is the European way of writing it. In America, we use a period for decimal points (0.5 or 4.3, etc.) So it might have been clearer for European readers, but Americans like me would have read it as Yakov having 5 exes (as I’m sure some Europeans read it). I guess it could have been written as 1/2, but I don’t think most Americans know that y’all use commas like that. It’s pretty crazy to have this disparity in how people write numbers though!
First the imperial vs metric system, then fahrenheit vs celsius, now this? Just kidding. In my opinion it doesn’t matter wether it’s a comma or period. It would’ve been clearer either using 0.5 or 0,5 since I tend to use both, but that’s just me. Adding a zero at the beginning would’ve probably made it easier to understand. But then again, that’s just me
I wish we had an opportunity to address just how much Kol’s betrayal really affected us. Or if not that then maybe have some options where MC can be shown to have trouble trusting even their closest friends if that’s something that fits them. I feel like my MC would have a way harder time trusting anyone after learning about what Kol did.
Yes, he did it for his siblings, but that doesn’t change the fact that MC is now incredibly traumatized and (at least my MC) literally killed someone. That also reminds me, maybe have some scenes where MC can reflect on the fact that they killed Reyna (if they did). As it is it doesn’t really seem to bother MC besides the whole “she’s giving me nightmares and trying to kill me again”. I’d like some options where MC can think about how they feel about the fact that they killed someone, whether they feel guilty or they don’t really care (or somewhere in between).
Somewhere in between, since everybody and everything is trying to kill him my mc won’t ever apologise for defending himself and once Sera dragged him into that final confrontation he’d made up his mind that only he or Reyna would come out of it alive, so he was never going to spare her or expect to be spared to himself. But his loss of control and the way he butchered, not just killed but butchered Reyna that did scare and that part does give him nightmares. If it had been a quick clean kill he’d be blissfully over it already. Though quite honestly since he’s not that good at either magic or fighting he was expecting Reyna to “win”.

Dominic and practically anybody, but particularly Alty and Cy. Alty and Cy, Leon and Cy, Alty and Leon (especially if his relationship with Astrid is progressing) and of course Cyrus and Leon, they have awesome “bro” talk. Really anything that shines a brief spotlight on the non-suitemate boys and the new boy, Dominic would be awesome whenever and wherever you feel like fitting that in.
I have to ask then, any chance the ROs find out that MC blackmailed Kol in book 2 and/or did some shady stuff that may have resulted in his death in book 3? If so please say there’s a way to avoid them finding out, because my MC would do whatever they had to in order to make sure it stayed a secret. Also can MC still get rid of Kol if they’re not working with Frostbite/Reyna? I would hope so, because there’s no way my MC is working with someone that tried to kill them, but they’re also not letting Kol get away with the stunt he pulled.

I’m guessing that would depend on your relationship with her. If you were friends with her I don’t think she’d offer up extra information as to how you killed Reyna. She wouldn’t lie if she was directly asked, but she also probably wouldn’t say anything unless she was asked.
Also based on how much she seems to hate Davina and Reyna I doubt she’d hold it against the MC. What’s more likely is that she told Gisela and Gisela ended up telling the secretaries.
Seraphina and Cressida. I’m betting they’d have some interesting conversations. Also Leon and Seraphina because Leon is best friend material and I have to see how he’d interact with Seraphina.
Hey @daydreamsincolor I’m not sure if this has been asked before but since my main MC is a hunter I was wondering what weapons would be in a hunter’s arsenal in your universe I know a silver stake exists but I got to thinking if hunters would even be willing to touch the magitech that the MC would use and would Jarred have given them traditional hunter weapons. Just curious and can’t wait to see what you come up with next keep up the great work and stay safe.
I would love to see Kol and Yakov interact more, since they have shared history, so it would be interesting, especially since a Kol-romancing MC mentions not knowing they even talked. I would also like to see Seraphina interact more with Thalia or Astrid.
