Massive congratulations to everyone! Loads of big achievements this month and it’s not over yet!
I just saw that this month, we’ve passed 100 brand new WIPs during 2024 (across HG, CoG and HC - mostly HG of course) which is huge! I wonder if there will be anywhere close to a hundred more by the end of the year…?
I’m happy to report I just wrote ~800 words in an hour and a half. While it’s slower than I’d like, it’s more than what I’ve done in a while, so there’s that. Here’s hoping I can keep the momentum (and also finish this chapter today), I need to get this thing done soon.
Does anyone else’s spell checker try to turn real words into other words because it doesn’t like the word you picked? It’s been really getting on my nerves today. I even pulled out a dictionary to make sure I spelled everything correctly.
My spellchecker is obsessed with Harry Potter (doubly weird since I’ve never read it, nor do I generally talk about it so like… where is this coming from??) It constantly tries to change “serious” to “Sirius” or “Severus.”
This one is more my fault: I guess I talked about Skyrim one too many times because it also regularly tries to change “about” into “khajiit.”
Well those were both names long before Harry Potter even existed, so maybe it’s obsessed with classical archaeology instead, or something.
(I always keep my spellchecker off in everything else than an actual word processor, because it just annoys me too much and ends up marking everything with red because I haven’t met a spellchecker yet who can handle multilingual people switching languages on the fly.)
For years I was stuck with all too many ideas, but very little energy to write.
And then it suddenly changed to having a burning need to write, but being completely incapable of coming up with any ideas that seem enticing.
No interest in any of my old ideas or projects either.
Update: I think I hit my goal for today. Yay. Getting that four hours of work in actually took longer than anticipated because I had to take more breaks than intended, because my back is killing me for some reason, and although I fell a page short I have a plan on how to solve that with some screenshots, so it’s all good. I’m not completely satisfied, necessarily, but I’ll have to finish it all first to be able to see what, if any, I have to tweak (apart from proofreading and stuff).
I wish I could have good news but I am in Jam pre season. I should have been doing promotion before last day in month when I put the theme and starting the jam for real.
I am far less stressed out compared to previous years. Cognitive Therapy is working. I have to admit that. Still, The imposter syndrome is full rage.
Like Why I should bother people with a campaign and hype something they don’t care about and I will only be a nuisance.
So I don’t know if do a campaign to guessing this year theme like I had planned or just don’t bother people
I am so stressed that I posted it in a random other month. Very Mara style error.
Speaking of stressed out, my brain is ridiculous. If I miss my goal, I’ll get stressed. If I meet (or even exceed!) it, my brain goes “more! More! You need to do more!”
Ah yes. Luckily I’ve long since adopted the attitude that as far as coursework goes, the only thing that matters is whether or not it’s good enough to pass the course.
@Gower, just as a quick update, I’ve been trying to replicate the “your game is too long” testing error we discussed before since my active scene file crossed 300K words a few days ago.
I can’t. Neither QT nor RT have choked yet – or rather, RT is getting pretty close to the full length of the file before it runs into my unfinished scraps and chokes on those, not on scene size.
I was wondering if it was the upload to Moody.ink that had a size limit, but @EvilChani tells me she didn’t see anything like that in the code.
So I’m a bit baffled. I know I hit some very explicit error message somewhere in the process – I wouldn’t have chosen to split my chaos.txt scene into multiple files otherwise. But so far it hasn’t been rearing its head again. I’ll keep you posted.
This month is going a bit quite-iishh. Today finally after many days had a short but good session. A piece I left for later was nicely written.
Today marks my small progress of reaching to 2K words in the first scene of the 4th Chapter. But the piece I spiced up for the story feels good. A snippet to taste:
chaser taster
It is a piece of letter, a page from a diary it seems that penned by your late grandfather Jonathan Sacks Cartwright. Jimmy sitting opposite to you, you started to read the letter.

The police didn’t find anything and didn’t have much to offer. Sherlock Jr. told me that I’m lucky to keep my hide and will better do whatever I’m doing in utmost secrecy and caution.

Some sort of exotic poison embedded to the dart which penetrated my thigh and injured the ischiatic nerve causing me to limb. Thanks to the old-timers of my fathers company I received a tonic which eased the pain and removed the terrible effects of the poison. It took me almost months to recover.

The recovery period was not in vain, had chance to make some inquiries behind the scenes and finally got some hold onto the real element causing pain, mischief, misfortune, depression to the region. Not only to Luuckey but to the surrounding hoods as well. They grew bolder in the early 20th century and have hands and ears everywhere to breach seals of secrecy.

To avoid spoilers just cut that piece and copied unrevealing part, hope to write more in the coming days.
In my early writing experiences with Wert Quh Iom, I was actually standing up and performing the sword play movements to write them better. I was breathing heavily due to that and used to feel like I completed a light exercise.
Swordsmanship was important to me so the angles of the swords clashing to them, the body positions I was checking them all and then writing.
I have no idea why I read that as two thousand words starting with the letter K. I mean, that doesn’t even make sense, using the single K twice that way. (But then again, I just woke up and am having a headache.)
Because it is written 2_k instead of 2k, my mind pictured him writing two words beginning with the letter “K” for the first scene of the 4th chapter. (i.e. King’s knights).
I, too, am experiencing a migraine, so I figure we can blame our misreading on that commonality.
I am super excited creating Mara lore bio as the game download. I love writing Role playing bios. I would tell here Mara adventures Maybe write a short story.
