Jolly Good: Cakes and Ale Free-for-All Discussion Thread Where Spoilers May Appear

Thank you! I’m so happy you enjoy the drawings!

You’re right, they’re definitely obtainable–but much like Fitzie, it’s not so straightforward as “say nice things, and you’ll end up together” when it comes to Haze. In some instances, Haze’s relationship bar increases when you show a bit of coldness. The Roman Wall scene is another minefield too–say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or say the right thing, but with the wrong tone, and the bar drops. But when you get it right… oh, what sweet, sweet results.

Complex characters, Haze and Fitzie. That’s why people keep on talking about them, I think. They’re unpredictable and prone to volatility. You don’t quite know just what to expect from them, or what the right choice to make with them might be sometimes.

Oh yes, I understand what you mean! I was just saying that people seem to have an attraction to these characters, and I just wonder if it’s because they’re full of mystery and unattainable (by virtue of how they’re set up, as you said!). You don’t know them yet. It’s exciting.

I think Fitzie said it best, “And neither of us authentically like each other. It is merely the challenge and the forbidden nature of it all that entices.”

Of course, whether it’s true in-universe is a whole other matter, but it seems like a good summation for out-of-universe people’s attraction to hard-to-get characters. They’re a challenge.

I don’t know if I make sense. Just some thoughts I guess!

Always! I love Tally Ho. It’s fun pretending I’m a productive and skilled servant taking care of a mess. Because in real life, I usually am that mess who needs to be taken care of.
