Really great game.
The fact that Harun al-Din is referred to as “Prince of Automata” is a pretty big giveaway once you think about it.
is the name supposed to be all one word and is it case sensitive?
How do I win the tournament? I keep getting beat by Richard.
Being sufficiently skilled in Piloting and focusing on being mobile and aggressive while having a solid tendency towards being Assertive generally seems to work for me.
Awesome. And how do you typically minimize damage in the two fights before?
I generally tend to raise my Technician’s skill rating over 50% and play defensively against the opponent until they start to show some sort of vulnerability, at which point I turn aggressive. I also pay a visit to the genius mechanic in Tripoli before the Tournament and offer to let him look at my Archon. Once I get his approval, I then generally install the Gyroscope system, which allows you to finish the two tournament matches defensively. The basic rule of thumb in the later Archon fights is to be aggressive when they show some sort of clear vulnerability (Like leaving their flank exposed) and play defensively when they try to charge you. If the opponent is also trying to do something like assuming a stance or try to repair something mid-combat, that’s also a good opportunity to be aggressive.
I will note that the fight with Richard the Ironhearted is a big fat comprehensive skill check, especially in regards to the state of your Archon and your overall Piloting skill rating. Starting the story with a character that has a focus in Piloting generally tends to excel in the fight with Richard.
All one word but I think I covered all combinations of upper and lower case!
If possible could you add that info in an update I think that’s why I was having trouble.
Were you trying it as two words? I can easily make it so it accepts that too.
I tried Prince of Automata, like that. I suppose it makes sense it just be two words but I’ll be honest when saying once I tried that and it didn’t work it sorta threw me off as I didnt consider I could have been on the right track and just gotten the format wrong.
Aha, no, that’s not the right response. Here’s a big hint - look back at the prologue and see if that description fits anyone…
somewhat related side note and a criticism I’ve seen already prologue characters just seemed to be one note characters that dont really exist outside of say 1 person. I’d definitely say that the prologue characters need to make more of an appearance. Personally I just thought that the true name would have been some historical figure as like I said I though all other prologue peeps died.
I will note that once you figure out who Harun Al-Din is, some of the characters in the prologue that seemed pretty flat will turn out to be far less flat than one might think. I was honestly a bit surprised at what followed once I understood what Harun Al-Din’s real name was, and I honestly appreciate the fact that a good chunk of the story does not really reveal itself unless you take the time to “explore off the beaten path” and listen carefully to some of the lore being expounded.
I get they ain’t as shallow as they could be but. The game acts like you can find crewmembers for the first act. Then once you find viv it’s just like. Nope sorry everyone is dead. Literally Xiao Yu dies instantly and viv is basically the only one you can interact with. I like it that in some ways but I generally like characters not to exist just to die. I get that its supposed to be interesting to find out the lore for those people. But it feels less like its hidden and more super niche. Like even if you made your one goal trying to find your friends and reunite you cant even figure out what happened to them unless you chill in the market for no real reason, or something similar, and hear random npcs talk about them. I still like the game I’d argue theres a bit of a jump in logic from point a to b.
It is sad, but I found it logical. Not everything go the way we want in real life.
To learn that our quest was doomed for the very beginning it hurt somehow, and I liked it (no I’m not maso).
OMG! I’m feeling stupid because I didn’t try what to me looked like too obvious to be the answer and guess what, it was (still is) the answer… I should live my life more according to the principle of Ockham’s razor.
It took me a few tries to get it right.
Would you care to dm it to me? I’m losing my mind here.
Enjoyed the game so far. I like the creative idea, historical backdrop, and ensemble of characters! Kudos to the writer for their deep knowledge of the crusading age and their fluency in fleshing the details out in the book!
The writing and pacing are stellar. The characters are quite interesting, though their dialogues are a bit limited (I’d like a lengthier conversation with them and more depth), but it’s understandable since Ironehart seems to be more focused towards branching plot lines and how your choices can direct one’s story.
