I think we should take this somewhere else. Don’t want to change this thread into something else.
So yeah newbie, that was my suggestion.

A mad scientist one would be fun too.
that mad scientist idea was mine read my earlier posts but like I said give the player a multi-choice to what they can become like three different choices if monster fantasy maybe one type of blood sucking monster, one type of werecreature, and maybe a mummy or something else. If scifi maybe a mad scientist, a spiderman type superhero, and maybe a sorcerer’s apprentice type wizard where the wizard must know alot about science.
Well, that’s two supports for mad scientist then.
You guys want monster game ideas? Why not make one where you play as a succubus or incubus? Should be fun trying to seduce bunches of people and eating their life force, though each chapter would probably be unrelated to the last and feel like a different game. You can also go for an alien invasion game, where you play as an undercover alien. Do you choose to conquer the world, destroy it, or fall in love with a human? Also, I really like the idea of a mummy game. Maybe a combination of Indiana Jones and Egyptian mythology?
If I could chose a game it would be the Indiana Jones Egyptian mythology one it sounds the best
but the mad professor would still be really fun
A succubus game sounds like fun, although there should be either demon hunters you should avoid or the risk of starvation if you can’t seduce enough victims. Maybe a starvation stat that goes down all the time and makes you more and more reckless.
Would be even more interesting if you are an unwilling succubus and you don’t really want to eat people’s life force, so you’re really selective.
But the best advice is:
What do you like? What is your favorite book/movie/game genre? Take it from there.
I’ve noted a lot of actiony-cinematic ideas here. You know what would lend itself really well to CoG, just as a general idea? Some type of “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” type scenario set after the fall of an oppressive government. Or am I the only person who takes an odd delight in fictional poli-sci?
A game like Hidden Agenda could adapt really well to the system actually. Maybe a Ruritania-esque country just after the cold war. Go republic, stay commie or reel it back to the monarchy and work off from there.
@Crayshen Oh wow, I love that idea. Something kind of similar in theme to Liberal Crime Squad but in Choicescript? Sounds like my kind of game. You could have it so you have to face of against supporters of the old regime as well as the army and police who want to take power, even before we get onto the subject of political rivals. I think that has potential to be massively compelling.
I have no idea what Mr Smith Goes to Washington, Hidden Agenda, or Liberal Crime Squad is.
I have no idea what the first two are either, but if they’re in any way similar to the content of Crayshen’s post, I like them. LCS is a roguelike in which you turn the USA into a Liberal paradise through political activism.
sounds good but a bit confusing especially for younger people and people outside the us.
It’s kind of a satire. I’m fall into the angry person with a shotgun yelling at taxmen conservative, and I still find the game amusing and fun.
Hidden Agenda is a game set in a fictional South American country that was made during the 80’s. It operates on more or less the same levels as the CoGs. Multiple choice scenarios, with options opening or closing depending on your cabinet makeup or choices you made earlier. Also you can’t ‘win’, even the best possible outcome is still pretty bleak.
The creator of it has a mirror up in his page for a small donation to a chairty, or if you’re less inclined to pay before you’ve given it a go, it’s popular on several abandonware sites.
As for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, that’s Jimmy Stewart! No ending to the sands be blasted film but still VERY worth watching.
@Crayshen I’d love to see something like Hidden Agenda. Played LCS on and off for a while now, but I think it might be a bit too campy for good inspiration. (It’s a good game, but the sort of humor it uses is a bit rough for a pure text game.)
The first thing Hidden Agenda made me think of, though, was Floor 13. That would lend itself to a pure text format nicely. Also, for some reason, it made me think of ‘101 Airborne: The Airborne Invasion of Normandy’ I’d love to see a ‘hard’ CoG game, where stuff will go wrong, no matter what you do (and not in the sense of, ‘Oh geez, there’s a trap ahead and you have to walk right into it’, but instead of in the sense of the real kind of problems the actual 101st faced, where stuff just went wrong in the most unpredictable ways).
And of course, Floor 13 reminds me of Bureau 13 (Which I only played a little of) which also seems like it would be an interesting premise, particularly if it was done semi-seriously (Think Men In Black, but with the supernatural, rather than aliens).
And for some reason, that made me think of Reign of Steel (a GURPS setting). Now that would lend itself to an awesome ChoiceScript game.
@Crayshen, Ha, Refreshed the page, and you beat me to describing the games, just seconds before I put ‘post’ (and you’re descriptions were better than mine, damn).
Just something I want to say, now that abandonware’s been mentioned, Do Not Link To Abandonware Sites. Not just talking about here, but on any site. It’s like spamming clicks for ads. You may think you’re doing good, but it always comes back to bite the ass of the person running the site. (Sorry to the management if I’m overstepping here, but I felt it was something that should be mentioned.)
@Reaperoa
I was hoping I was being vague enough. Wouldn’t dream of getting our gracious hosts in trouble.
Now that I’ve got ideas in my head I may just bother to draw up a flowchart that no one will ever see, and I’ll never develop just like my other commitments!. Wouldn’t be awful to get the basic ideas drafted out though.
Region-wise, I’m still thinking Balkans post Yugoslav breakup. Anyone have any other political powderkegs that lend themselves to ‘making’ new countries?
I have an almost ideal setting taken from a Nationsates RP too, but that’s essentially furry Austria. Not everyone’s cup of tea.
Post-independence India?
@Crayshen, just tossing it out there, though I don’t think management will say any lines were crossed. Just some many people seem to forget (or not understand from the start) that the reason that abandonware is a legal ‘grey’ area is because it actually is illegal, and only a non-desire for prosecution from the copyright holders keeps them from being straight out warez.
As for interesting political settings, I can’t really offer any good true ones off the top of my head, but I’d recommend playing something like Europa Universalis. I’m personally reading an interesting ‘After Action Report’ (as it’s called on the Paradox forums) Of a Crusader Kings>Europa Universalis>Victoria>Hearts of Iron LP where Scotland wins in its war against England, and ends up taking half of what would have been France, while North America ends up in this three way tug-a-war between the three nations that take it over, and that’s not even touching on the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which is what the LP’s actually following.
Don’t know if it’s anything like what you might be thinking of, but those kind of ‘what if’ scenarios have always interested me.
what about choice of the Pharaoh, be a Pharaoh ruling the empire with political and military power will you be a fabled leader or be betrayed by your people what type of ruler will you be .In your younger years how did you gain the throne and what did you study. Will your Pharaoh be single or have many wives/husbands .will you lose land or become the largest super power ever and earn your place in the history books.
for the more observant people I posted this on two discussions Just didn’t know which one would be best to post to .
