So im trying to find a way to teach people who know nothing about basketball or next to nothing the basic rules and ideas to get them more rooted in the story. My problem is I don’t feel like I can insert it story wise as it’ll slow the plot down. My idea is to make a guide/scene at the beginning with a list of information about the sport. Is this a good path? Anyone think of another way I could achieve this in an easy straightforward manner?
Perhaps you could put the guide in the stat. That way it will always be possible to read it.
It’d be a fairly large block of text. Still learning the system so not sure how much info the stat screen can handle for one page. Itd be like… a lot lol. Would it still work?
Totally possible. Just insert *choice
s into the file. You can actually split the whole thing up into parts and pieces to make it easier to digest that way too.
Thanks i took suggestion and while its rough at least there is a guide
I personally love when the stats screen has different glossaries/indexes. It’s a great place to put things or expand lore! You could put a little footnote at some point in the gams saying “you can always check the rules by clicking the stats button.” A way you can have it be part of the story is with a flashback of when the MC was young and learning how to play
I’d put it in as a multi page intro with the option to skip it on each page.
