On Tumblr they did confirm we would get in a relationship before the end for all the ROs so we get to deal with being in a relationship with everything going on, including Seven.
Also something about how Seven and MC are gonna have to figure out their new relationship cause it won’t be the same as before. Course we’ll see if this is a couple of chapters, which I’m assuming, or like one at the end.
I know the post you are talking about. Wish tumblr search would let me find it.
But what you said was right. Whatever relationship (tempestuous, teenage like) they had in the past is long dead, and if reunited it will a more of a quiet happiness. Or something.
wait so the ass gets annoyed and jealous when we say we want to sleep with rowan (double bed scene on the bus) but he does this in the past? yeah nah screw them
orion and august all the way
You mean this one?
Yes. Not only is Seven abusive, but he’s a damned hypocrite, too.
Aka. It’s still going to be “intense” cause everything with Seven is, but it’s not going to be “I literally cannot breathe without the other person”. She’s already said Seven will still very much be clingy and talkative about Mc if they reunite romantically, it’ll just be healthier where neither one expects the other to uplift their entire life for the other, and hopefully there will be a lot more open communication with one another. Personally, I think that’s a huge improvement for both Mc and Seven, more natural and sustainable for both parties.
@EvilChani - Seven is a therapist's wet dream and nightmare.
I’m not going to lie; I’m over Seven’s delusions as well. I don’t think it helps that I’ve dealt with a Seven in the past who didn’t take any accountability, manipulated the narrative to suit their delusions, got others involved who had preconceived notions about me due to their false narrative, etc. Dealing with a real-life Seven as well as a fictitious one is exhausting. I’ll still have a seven-routed MC, but he’s not waiting for seven to get it together. He’ll flirt, establish relationships, live his life, and be over Seven and whatever nonsense they’re up to until they behave like the adults they’re capable of being.
According to Amy, we’ll eventually be able to ignore Seven, but we’ll still be obliged to engage with them on occasion. More than likely because Seven’s personal development is focused on reliving the past with the MC and earning forgiveness, accepting accountability, and forgiving. Especially because the past has left them stagnant emotionally and psychologically.
Ironically, I’ve already read a fanfiction novel in which the protagonist hated their best friend’s friend, who was also their friend in the past. They’d make all kinds of accusations, and their best friend would have no idea what they were talking about since it wasn’t true. There was no evidence to back up their claims. The truth was that the person they despised was in love with them; they confessed, and because they didn’t know how to handle their own emotions, they rejected them, paraded a new relationship in front of their faces, and portrayed them as the villain in their story when they distanced themselves. They made up skewed scenarios when the real story was much more tame. The person ends up forgiving them because they’re clearly sick in the head, and they get into a relationship after working on the past and their issues.
Seven is precisely like this; the problem is that they don’t have best friends who wake them up to reality; instead, they have best friends who enable them since they can’t perform their own due diligence and learn the whole story before supporting their friend’s madness. They’re 27, not 15, and they don’t have the age excuse on their side.
Use tags. The search function is garbage. I could type word by word in the damn thing, and still not find anything.
Exactly. Tumblr’s search function is on some major bullshit. It’s better to bookmark and like the posts you believe are informative and that you may need to look at for reference. Makes them easier to find later on.
@mordorintrigue - on the topic of Seven
I think that is one of my problems as well. I’ve been through this shit in real life, and it wasn’t entertaining, fun, or romantic. It was tiring. My real-life Seven never woke up and I finally managed to extricate myself from their drama. Playing it after experiencing it just annoys me, especially when there’s no end in sight.
Makes sense. I’m just not seeing how they’ll manage all that while being enabled by Avina, Pope, Kieran, Lucy, and pretty much everyone–including the show, which will paint Seven as the victim and vilify the MC every chance they get.
That fiction sounds interesting, more interesting than seeing everyone coddle Seven’s delusions. I find it amusing that MC is surrounded by “friends” who constantly call them out, don’t care about their feelings, and just do their own thing and don’t concern themselves with the MC at all while Seven is surrounded by people whose lives revolve around him and they go out of their way to support his delusions and make sure he’s always “comfortable”. The contrast is extreme.
Or use TumblThree, download the whole blog every so often, then search the text document. Much easier to deal with, and you don’t need a user ID to do it.
@EvilChani - Seven padded walls.
Right, according to my theory, the end of the seven-drama is closer to Ch. 8-10. If we still have 15 stops after our performance, it makes sense for the drama to finish after the eighth city.
I’m hoping Amy includes some repercussions for Seven misrepresenting the entire story and their friends believing it and encouraging the animosity. Mary and Gary Stus eventually have at least a minor reality check from someone. Imagine spending three years loathing a stranger alongside your friend only to discover that none of what you were told was true. Even from Avina’s point of view, they believe we kicked Seven out and didn’t have a conversation with them, because of Seven, although the first episode of BOTB illustrates that Seven quit the band. How do you kick out someone who left? Are they not questioning this, or is SV distorting the truth on purpose?
Another thing, I don’t believe Pope and Kieran would have quit the band for Seven. From what we’ve seen so far, they’re closer to one other than they are to Avina and Seven. Seven and Avina’s guard dogs are Pope and Kieran, while Avina serves as a placeholder for the MC. When Seven has their shit together, and if the MC is willing to accept them back in any form, they’ll come running.
Amy believes that the bandmates’ likes and dislikes should be their own. They aren’t intended to be swayed by how the MC thinks; they’re supposed to be their own people. Individuals should act like this, rather than acting like they’re in high school and saying, “I can’t like you because the leader of my clique doesn’t like you.” I believe the MC’s bandmates are intended to be a more mature contrast to Seven’s bandmates when it comes to the drama between Seven and the MC. Seven’s bandmates appear to be stuck in high school drama rather than in their late twenties.
Seven “needs” their bandmates to validate their radical delusions; otherwise, they’d have to face the truth. They “need” them to tiptoe around their emotions or they’ll shut down. The MC may or may not need this depending on how you play them, and even then, never to the extent that Seven does because they aren’t deluded.
It’ll be interesting to watch how things evolve as the story progresses. Will Avina, for example, stop rushing after Seven and instead allow them to analyze their feelings and arrive at their own conclusions about a scenario without holding their hand or feeding and supporting their delusions? Will Pope and Kieran ultimately snap on Avina or Seven because they’re tired of having to be careful of what they say and how they say it?
It’s an M/M story; apparently, they use RL Minecraft players as their main characters. Why? I don’t know. Did you want to read it?
Thank you!
Hm… the more I learn, the more it seems like the relationship with Seven is very interesting on paper, but requires either a bunch of headcanons or an MC that’s just as mentally unstable as Seven.
Since I have both, I wonder if Ivan’s abrasive and violent behaviour will be called out while Seven’s will be ignored - because I would genuinely like to see them both suffer for it, they both should. Being a former pair of pretty damn good songwriters doesn’t give an excuse for one to be agressive, and for another to be passive-agressive. Plus, their behaviour is absolutely self-destructive.
… Wait, could the potential blowback be factored into the genre of the music band plays? Like, no one would be particularly surprised to see a rapper writing an entire album on Valium (Ivan did, but it wasn’t valium) and rapping about how much he wants to kill his former partner. Likewise, I doubt that never getting over his ex-boyfriend is an uncommon occurrence for a singer of alternative rock band.
Can it be that as their behaviour grows more unstable and unhinged MC will be enabled as well because drama brings ratings? Seven already manages to constantly be enabled, so dealing with him is easier for the producers.
I remember people slipping then-fresh Shady drugs and generally encouraging his poor temper - could that happen in the future of BOTB for some MCs? After all, it’s clear that singers are product first for the organizators and only with the help of Griffin do we get more leeway.
Also, I can’t believe Seven is 27 in canon. 23 or 21 makes him feel like much less of a manchild than his canon age.
To be fair to Seven, all the ages feel a bit off to me. The MC, band, and Seven are all about 27, but the feel 25 to me. And Mya is 17-18, but she feels very 15.
I’ve seen the “Seven will be Seven” thing a few times, and it honestly confuses me. We haven’t seen that much of them from before the vote. We don’t know how much of their behavior and personality comes from their hurt and coping with it, and how much is just the way they’ve always been. So, why are we assuming he hasn’t changed at all? If I had been basically voted out of my band, I would have either cried or buried my emotions until they exploded out of me (which it feels like is what Seven did). And that kind of thing plus the blow up and break up can change a person.
Yeah. Given how much the breakup still stings and how MC acts, I would give them early twenties for everyone in the group save for Griffin, Viktoria and Blake. These feel like thirty-something to me.
Yeah, me too. He’s definitely clingy and dependent on MC, but in the flashbacks I’ve seen it felt like they genuinely loved each other. Poet and his muse, a pair of songwriters - he seemed like he wanted the group to last and he wanted to be with MC, wanted to be his one and only.
I think jealousy might have played a very large role in their breakup: Seven blames MC because, in his eyes, he traded away his lover (in my case) for absolutely materialistic reasons and I don’t imagine Seven even caring about his group being popular or getting platinums. He strikes me more as “doing it for the art” kind of guy.
Typically, when you see the “Seven is Seven” or “Seven will be Seven” statement, we aren’t referring to how Seven may have been in the past; it’s in reference to how they are now. Seven is being Seven by being upset towards the MC, hating the MC, and so on. Rinse and repeat.
I agree with maya seeming like 15 as she is a very young almost 18 year old. I think Victoria & G seem older as they have so much experience.
However I kind of like that mc and the band is on the older side of twenties rather than early. -without giving away my age lmao- but I prefer not to play mc’s that are younger.
Plus it gives them a sense of now or never with joining botb as opposed to being 21 and joining and not having had all that time trying and failing.
Same. "Wait, she is going to college? At that age? Is she a genius?”
I think the drama is the cause for the characters feeling younger than they are, since most conflict feels really petty and childish, but at least I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking Maya was way younger. Before the college talk, I was sure she was a nine year old… (she’s still very young, so I don’t mind her bubbly self, but sdjsk I felt so dumb upon realizing her real age)
She’s seventeen? I thought she was ten!
Hmm, people thinking Maya is younger than she actually is is kind of interesting to me because she seems like a regular 17-18 year old to me. I worked in a high school once and some of the seniors definitely acted like her, especially the kpop-obsessed stan girlies who have unhealthy parasocial relationships with their idols.
