From the article in the story about mc and V:
And is the cheating of the show the kind of cheating we should be worrying about?
I took that as insinuating an affair but I could be wrong.

This are some bits from the demo:
Model and upcoming actress Victoria Valentine seems to have taken a liking to our lead singer
*if (have_stagename)
${stagename}
*if not(have_stagename)
${name} ${surname}
of ${band}. They’ve stirred up some controversy due to reports of foul play behind the scenes.
And
You hear mentions of cheating, the photo, and whether Victoria is having an affair. The questions get more ridiculous and frenzied the longer you spend without answering.
I assumed the affair based on this and the conversation with Viktor, if you’re straight or not doesn’t really matter, Viktor is looking for a scapegoat to save G’s ass.
If Seven is talking about the cheating allegations, why bring it up at that moment? There were so many instances where they could have done so, and their excuse “don’t make me look like a fucking idiot”, excuse you, my MC’s whole career is on the line why should she care about that? She didn’t ask you to intervene. But again, it could just be Seven being Seven and in a moment of vulnerability they decide to check how the MC was doing after everything.
My mc who’s riding with SV isn’t drinking the Avina’s Kool-Aid, they see right through them. But yeah, as a reader, Avina always gave me “pick me girl” (gn) vibes and I always suspected they had a secret crush on Seven, their povs though are something else. They need a really good therapist like yesterday. Speaking of codependency, I never got the impression Seven and MC’s relationship was as unhealthy as Savina, I might be wrong, but SevenxMC felt more like a regular, even if intense, relationship between bffs.
See takes like that are exactly why I can’t take them seriously. They’re playground levels of burn skfndk like yeah bro I’ve been there! And I’ll be there in a sec too, don’t you worry about that LOL. They’re so eager to remind you they, in their head, took your place it’s comedically awful.
that’s exactly what i thought. no one asked you to do that, so shut up omg.
i think this is probably what happened, yeah. making them feel worse is probably not great way to check on MC though lol.
Hasn’t Amy mentioned that the old 7 x MC was quite unhealthy, because of their extreme dependence on the MC?
I don’t remember if she said anything specific, however I think it was more about codependency rather than one party being more dependent. MC was doing bad too, considering their parents.
The ‘affair’ with Vic angle didnt surprise me. Just one of many scenarios the media threw out hoping something sticks. Standard shit when any two people are seen together lol. I would think the conspiring and cheating angle will probably take main spotlight over that though UNLESS youre a Vic-mancer lol. double whammy.
Probably reeling from seeing the pic of mc and Vic on TV and having an “oh shit did mc actually cheat the competition?” moment and decided they absoutely had to know with the “i sought you out”. But Seven did manage to make the entire thing about them and their feelings and I just…my MC wanted them to honestly fuck off at that point even if you reassure Seven you didnt cheat and they readily accept it. BLAH> We’re just back from Viktors BS and now Sevens worried about how you might be making them look stupid lol SEVEN PLZ. All this dumpage in a single day added 50 points to my MCs glorious rage outburst meter.
Personally I interpreted the I defend you line as referring to the cheating allegations, if only because iirc it was mentioned somewhere before that Seven doesn’t believe the MC would cheat. Can’t remember if it’s in the game or if it was from a pov, but I do remember thinking “that’s nice.”
As for the Victoria situation, I thought that was also a case of “wooo mc trying to buy favoritism again” rather than “band leader caught in the act” especially bc G is also there at the diner, so ? Either way, poor MC can’t catch a break lol
I’m playing my MCs as repressing it all. Every shitty thing that happens to them, they shove it down, trying to keep everything from exploding out. I hope we can keep doing it until a glorious moment where you can go nuclear on the whole damned bunch of them. Really, the only ones to escape my MCs’ meltdowns will be Dakota, August, Maya, and Orion. Everyone else is toast.
I liked the scene, despite some quibbles with it. But it’s also, like… Seven, MC is about to get ass blasted by chronically online stans and the manosphere. Who gives a fuck about the reputation YEW 🫵🏼 chose to risk, something MC quite literally didn’t ask you to do?! MC’s wandering around like a specter, probably visibly haunted, and you think this is the time to square up about the allegations? Oh brother, lmao.
I agree about it feeling overwhelming. We go from an emotionally draining lecture from Viktor to being caught unaware by a confrontation with Seven. It’s a lot in such quick succession.
In the spirit of being a Seven Apologist™️, the possible evidence of collusion isn’t really what Seven’s angry about, I think. They’re angry at the fact that they’ve been out of contact with MC for so long that they don’t know them anymore. The MC they knew would never cheat, so that’s what they keep insisting to other people. Then, overwhelming evidence pointing to MC being a big, fat cheater comes out and it’s a double whammy of feeling stupid for having defended them and a sense of grief at the idea that MC is a stranger now.
But pick a better time to have a breakdown about it, y’know?
Yeah, like, they’re obviously having a little internal battle with themselves, but I don’t known that raging about how dumb MC’s actions make them look is the best course of action when it’s MC who is in the thick of it all and is also coming straight off of being berated by the worst man alive. Of course, they don’t know about what happened with Viktor, so they’re not aware of what a terrible time they picked, but some emotional intelligence would be nice!
Obviously none of us know where the story is going, but I think it’s shaping up partly as an underdog narrative and partly as a deconstruction of fame and celeb culture. Not something meant to torture MC, but a little bit of tearing down the shiny veneer and exposing the rot underneath. Everyone’s suffering a little because being a public figure sucks, we’re just playing MC’s perspective, so we see and feel their pain more intimately.
To be fair, it’s the MC who is accused of cheating, has their ex spitting venom at them constantly, has someone whose sole purpose in life is to destroy them to “expose” the industry, has been thrown personally under the bus as being the cheater with absolutely no way out, who has Viktor salivating over the idea of tossing them out on their ass, and who pretty much has no one to rely on (sorry, the band isn’t reliable) or to be there for them to get them through it.
Yes, the band is shouldering some of this–and they had to deal with a room full of people calling them cheaters and threatening them–but not to the extent the MC is. Iris and Devyn have each other, and literally make everything about them–the fact that they use Seven and MC as an example of how not to be and have the gall to rub that in the MC’s face is just fucked up. Rowan seems fairly well-adjusted and has parents that care about him. Blake has his mama. Seven has Avina, Lucy, the rest of SV, and the girl on the phone–for a start. Dakota, Vic, and G have all the money in the world, and a solid fanbase who isn’t going to turn on them, though they come closer to being left in the cold like the MC.
So I don’t think it’s just that we are playing the MC and feel their pain more intimately. The MC’s life fucking sucks. Nothing every goes right and they have no one, unless you count the shallow friendship with the band as something. I don’t. Friends who ditch you constantly aren’t people you can count on. Orion is too distant to be of any help, and just another example of the MC not having anyone who actually makes them feel like they matter and that someone cares.
Plus, no one is getting the ass end of everything the way the MC is, and it’s not a little bit of tearing down. Being labeled a cheater, then being proven to be a cheater with evidence like that video is career ruining, especially for a nobody like the MC (and especially when they’re on a show where that “evidence” will ensure no one ever votes for them to win one of the competitions aagin–because G sure as hell can’t vote for them anymore, and no one else will).
On a more positive note, now that we’re in Virginia Beach does this mean we’re getting a beach episode!? Will I be able to witness G in expensive af swimwear!?? Im going to put my beach chair right next to theirs.
NOT THE MANOSPHERE
And yet, you lot in this thread.
Gosh, I wonder whose fault THAT is?
You aren’t allowed to be near G anymore, but you can watch from afar, maybe?
At this point, I think my MCs in a beach episode would go somewhere alone and brood. Or swim off into the ocean never to be seen again. Putting them in the ocean would be a bad idea right now, lol.
Well, one of them would get drunk and flaunt around wearing next to nothing and flick off the cameras. And try to find Dakota to see if he wanted to bang.
Well, you can’t escape it with the plot shoving Seven down your gullet constantly, until you choke on them. Amy has said Seven plays a huge part in the MC’s story no matter what, and you won’t be able to avoid them at points because Seven has an arc and has to grow (while everyone, including them, kicks you repeatedly for the fun of it). So I guess maybe everything is all about them!
Is there more mandatory Seven on the rewrite (when is that going public again?)? I can’t recall many instances of interaction when I played the original version. Just the bit at the party and Cody’s setup.
Well, yes! MC is the catalyst for a lot of drama. They’re the main character in a conflict-driven, melodramatic IF. But since it’s a game and not a set narrative, I’m assuming we’ll be able to turn it around at least a little and won’t be stuck at the same point for the rest of the story.
Never said they weren’t also a hyprocrite
I’m getting cold sweats thinking about what the podcasters in the Infamous universe are saying about MC. MC has truly suffered more than Jesus.
Putting this in a separate post for a reason, just to give a little perspective…
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… well, not really, but it was a long time ago, Beverly Hills 90210 was a thing. Not the shitty remake (sorry younglings, the remake looked like trash), but the original. It had 30 year olds playing teenagers, but that’s not the point.
The point is that there was this guy who came on the show. He had a budding music career (off the show) and I actually quite loved his voice (Jamie Walters was his name, and he had a nice bluesy, growly voice). He played Donna’s boyfriend. At first, it was awesome, but a teeny bopper drama has to be a teeny bopper drama and they turned him from cool singer to bitch slapper. The character went down the tubes. But it doesn’t stop there…
This guy, who was developing a career as a singer, got rabidly attacked by fans of the show who had problems distinguishing real life from fiction. They fucking ruined him and his career. They threatened him, stalked him, and basically made it their mission in life to ruin him because he acted as a character who hit another character. People were fucking deranged.
I’m not sure if the story is still out there anywhere, but I lived through that shit and saw it first hand. When I look at the MC and all the crap being piled on them–the accusations, the rabid hecklers, the videos making it look like they’re conspiring or banging someone’s hot wife–all I can think of is Jame Freaking Walters.
Given that it’s going to get worse, and that this was about the best thing that can happen to the MC since it’s the most “lighthearted” chapter, I can’t see it ending well. It’s going ot crash and burn, one way or the other. People are too damned crazy for it to go down any other way, and Amy likes writing pain. I think the writing is on the wall. But that’s JMHO as someone who saw people lose their shit and go homicidal over a freaking fictional TV show that, quite honestly, wasn’t all that well-written!
There will be forced scenes with Seven, from what I understand. I’ll see if I can dig up the post. I’ve been using the board to keep me awake in between working today. I had an hour and a half of sleep and, if I hadn’t been posting, I’d have passed out on my laptop, lol.
I really like this angle, it makes tons of sense and I can totally see this being true.
It’s also true that Seven chose the worst time possible but we know how impulsive they are and that emotional intelligence isn’t really their strong suit.
See I personally didn’t find ch.3 to be a heavy one. We have our win, more cheating allegations (which it’s normal because those aren’t going to go away in a few scenes), some filler and nice moments with the ro and then the Vic situation which was bound to happen sooner or later. I’m glad at least that’s out of the way because I’m not playing therapist again against my will. I think with ch.3 being so long, reading about the cheating allegations every other page might get overwhelming at times.
I expect the next chapter to carry the consequences of that Vic situation, people giving the Mc the stinky eye, maybe being bottom 3 on the next round, so yeah probably a lot worse than ch.3.
This. Things will get ugly before they get better.
I get it, but for my mc, they have O, August, Jazz, G (even if it’s more harmful than helpful), their music, and their fans with Maya being the best of the best. They have Triple A in their corner and LA offered a shoulder to lean on, you might not want it but it’s an option. I couldn’t care less about the MC’s parents so that’s a nonissue for my mc. Blake did start the cheating allegations, that’s undeniable, but they explained plenty that it’s not personal and, I’m probably biased, I get where they’re coming from. ofc ymmv.
You have a couple of scenes with Seven, others are optional and you can pick other people to interact with instead of them. I think it’s pretty balanced and if you chose to ignore them most of the time they aren’t that prominent.
