Same here. I think it is definitely a case of telling instead of showing, much like with the band being bffs. In what I’ve seen of the rewrite so far, it has helped that–after the update, I can believe they are friends, kind of–but I’m still not seeing the bff thing, and don’t really believe the band cares all that much about the MC. Being able to distance from the band helps a lot, though. With Lucy, I think the only way my MCs would reach out is if they found out Lucy was dying, and that would be a matter of sympathy and courtesy, not in wanting to reconnect. After all, Lucy iced the MC out, not the other way around (and no, a single unreturned text doesn’t prove a damned thing to me).
Maybe. I had this thought that maybe Seven got drunk and married someone during their freakout, and that’s who phone person is. Maybe they didn’t get divorced or get it annulled because the phone person needed to be married or some such rot. In a way, I’d hate one more thing being piled onto a Seven-mancing MC (how much shit is the MC supposed to swallow???), but in another, I’d love it because it’d make Avina choke.
Several of the bands are put together by labels and already have some kind of contract, so it’s possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Agreed. I really don’t think there’s anything Avina wouldn’t do to make people sympathize more with Seven.
Well, also take into consideration that Avina thought they’d be fine with putting Seven through the “torment” with the MC because it got Seven where he belonged, with them. Someone with that mentality is capable of twisting any problem Lucy has–even facing her own mortality–into something they can use to help Seven or make Seven be closer to them. So even Lucy dying might somehow be twisted in Avina’s mind as something Seven should use to help their band win and to make everyone love Seven more.
Yeah, and it’s one of those things where most people would be like, “so what??” while Seven laments over, Avina sees stars as to how it would help Seven, and Blake thinks they’re all deranged for making such a big deal over it.
Yeah, I think they get a big chunk of cash if they win.
I would love this. Use an OD moment as a wake-up call for the MC, and maybe pass that revelation along to the LI as well. Not sure if Amy would go there or not, but she doesn’t shy away from torturing the MC, so I don’t see why she’d steer away from this, since it could give the MC an opportunity for a fresh start.
Or maybe that’s too happy. 
Seven has so many buttons it’s impossible for them to go through the day without the wind blowing and pushing one of them.
I can buy that Seven is so private they don’t want dirty laundry aired on national tv, but I don’t really think they’re ashamed of doing or saying anything spiteful after the breakup. Not yet, anyway. Seven keeps justifying being mean to the MC and convincing themself that the MC hates them, too.
I have phrases like that, too. I stopped giving a shit if I over use them a long time ago. You get to a certain age and it’s like, “honey badger don’t give a fuck.”
She tried to text once, with same lame ass crap. Never bothered again. Screw Lucy–if she gave a damn about the MC, she clearly didn’t want to be bothered upsetting Seven by, you know, going to see them and comfort them and letting them unload about whatever happened. She can fuck off.

They are kinda mentally screwed. They internalize and seem to try and rationalize everything for their peers. I’m sure Mc is going to have a breakdown at some point in the competition when the constant stresses and sole responsibilities stack.
I sent in an ask to the Tumblr page a while ago asking if Mc is canonically more mature and she said they were one of the more mature characters in the cast. Guess hardships made Seven and G more immature and emotionally lacking, where it forced Mc to grow up too fast. They’re adulting unlike the others, just in an extreme way.

I think Lucy was trying to reach out in a way that wasn’t forcing MC into a potentially uncomfortable situation, lmao. MC clearly didn’t take her up on the underlying invitation.

Yeah, exactly. Also take into consideration that Lucy knows MC’s history and how their parents are. She knows MC isn’t use to anyone giving a rat’s ass about them. And she believed a picture of a fucking pie would somehow make the MC realize that Lucy–mother of the person who just told MC to fuck off and die–meant for said picture to be an invitation? If that’s the case, Lucy is as dumb as a fucking sack of hammers.

I’ll give a point to Lucy for at least caring enough to know what MCs fav dessert was because we all know the parents wouldn’t have the slightest clue or give a shit. But yeah…not great.

I feel like people need to remember that all of these people are very flawed. Lucy included. She’s the most loving and supportive out of the cast which isn’t a hard bar to beat, but she does have her moments that won’t win her best mom award. She was trying which is more than anyone else has done.
And with Seven being Seven I’m sure that’s how she’s learned to navigate parental and kid relationships. Not coming on too forceful, just opening an opportunity should Mc want to take it up.
Honestly, the way Seven spooks so easily. It’s like trying to bag a feral cat lol.

In fact, my brother will send me pics of food my mom makes when I’m not there and he is to rub it in my face that she made my favorite. It’s not an invitation!
