Yeah, the MC does seem more stable, and in a recent ask, Amy said the MC is more mature than Seven and G, at the very least, and more than Rowan and Iris, a lot of times. The MC’s main problem, at this point, seems to be abandonment issues, which they solve by being a people pleaser.
I have to admit, it might have been fun to play as Seven, instead of the MC. Getting into the head of someone whose views are that twisted wouldn’t have been easy, but it would’ve been entertaining, especially as the “truths” start hitting them in the face. Not to mention, it really feels sometimes like the story revolves around Seven moreso than the playable character, and everyone loves and worships Seven, so MC wouldn’t have to deal with the hatred and cheating angle. But G likes MC better, so screw Seven.
That’s why I said it’d be hard to get into Seven’s head to play them. It’s hard for me to identify with someone that fucked up and step into the character’s shoes. All I could think of while reading Sev’s bus POV was, “oh, you poor crazy child…”. It was really the first time I sympathized with the character, but it was mainly because Seven seemed to have no clue just how whacked out they really are.
If we had control of them, we could probably progress away from that sooner. Or have them completely snap, so maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad? Especially with everyone kissing your ass constantly–MC has zero of that. Actually, MC has negative five billion of that…
Remember that talk with his bestie in the bus about them wanting to get in their head, and Seven getting all emo hot topic, about that being a bad place or whatever. I think he is aware of how bad things are and how he is only make it worse, but he will not, cannot change his behaviour. Especially not for MC, God forbidden.
Yes, absolutely no one praises MC’s music skills and ability to perform, considers them the band leader rather than just any other member, or spend hours working for free running their fanclub. They are totally unrecognized and universally hated. Woe is them.
The fanclub is for the band, not the mc on their own.
MC gets pushed into the position by Orion and has to act like it on the show, at the moment the other band members seem to not really consider mc band leader. To be fair the mc is kinda shit at leading anyway. The mc is just another band member at the moment, one who happens to be lead singer.
Some do, mc gets less of it than Seven, except that G sees something in them that he does not in Seven. Unlike Seven the mc has not gone viral yet.
Not universally but within the context of the show they certainly are more hated than loved by the people who matter.
Yes, for what it is worth.
It’ll be a victory (on Griffin’s romance route) once mc actually gets the boy. Hopefully there will be some differences romancing Griffin as a guy than a girl, since unlike Gina he does not seem to be publicly known to be pan or bisexual at the moment.
It may be for the band but you don’t see Maya breathlessly fangirling any other member even though they’re all within reach. There’s also other people who recognize MC specifically. Like with any band, people are going to have their favorite(s) and focus on them.
(not to mention, if we wanted to insist on this argument “it’s not for MC, it’s for the band” then the same would apply also to Seven’s supposed ass-kissing – “it’s not for Seven, it’s for their band”)
The very fact Orion picks MC and not any other member is in itself due to recognition he has for the MC. The others at the very least don’t question or oppose this choice – you don’t see anyone jockeying for this position or claiming the MC doesn’t deserve it.
Within the context of the show the band is put in position of the “cheating villains”. That’s what the hate is focused on, not the MC specifically (even though they are the face of the band)
i agree, i think MC is pretty decently respected all things considered. i mean seven is more well-liked & his band is more popular, and MC’s band has the cheating allegation and all that— but they’re not universally hated which i really like.
i really like that they’re not 100% despised but that they’re also not as well-respected as soft violence & seven because i think it fuels a competitiveness in readers to want the MC to win since seven & blake are such dingdongs. if they were completely despised it’d be disparaging, but if they were more popular than soft violence then they probs wouldn’t need BOTB. i think it strikes a nice balance! for me anyways
in rowan’s POV that was just released on the patreon, he fully supports MC being the leader. he makes jokes about it, but he actually thinks MC is the best option & not just because they’re the lead singer.
Oh, I expected a different reaction. Dakota being used as a tool to hurt Seven felt like an interesting opportunity, yet he just seems to accept it. As if he knows he has moved on, and so, it seems, did the MC.
It can be also potentially rather silly case of jumping to conclusions, given MC can get that number simply by dancing with Dakota and then actually turning them down (unless this was changed in the prologue, too) All while still being in love with Seven. But it’s not unreasonable/out of character reaction, i suppose (since Seven wouldn’t be privy to those details)
It makes sense, yeah. I wonder if Seven will be just as dramatic in the rewrite - I may joke about durian raccoons, but his behaviour added a lot of potentially tasty drama if you keep hounding him.
Ouch. Well…enter Seven being right for their hatred from stage left.
That gives a different feel than overdramatic Seven. It seems to me that, in that scene, Seven has moved on, but still hates the MC and is just even more disgusted by them than before.
I have a sinking feeling that the MC will really be the villain with Seven now, with no choice to make the MC even halfway right in their past fight, and Seven will be the victim, just like they were pitching before. Perhaps that was the purpose of the rewrite, to make that clear so no one can complain when Seven is nasty to the MC.
Nah I don’t think the rewrite makes Seven right, if anything it sorta makes them seem more delusional. Seven’s pissed/upset about a number, but they made it a show to be seen hooking up with mutuals. It’s just adding to the angst and the round-and-round thing going on with their route and more of an exaggeration of their twisted, contradicting mind, and immaturity. I still think the basics remain with Seven.
They hate Mc, but love them at the same time.
They’re aware they’re being irrational but can’t stop.
Avina is very important to Sev, but based on the POV’s, Mc is and always will be the most important (if you’re romancing them, maybe even as becoming friends again)
Except they aren’t. There’s pain, acceptance and resignation. Where do you get them being pissed about it from? If anything, MC makes a point how they’re spooked because Seven isn’t angry.
The anger explicitly isn’t there, so i really think you’re effectively ignoring what the game tells you, in favour of your own idea of Seven. We aren’t privy to their thoughts so i don’t know what is driving that acceptance/resignation and whether this is just a moment, something deeper or something they’ll go back on, but it is what the MC is witnessing. Not Seven being pissed.
Because that’s the base of most of their emotions and they are full of contradictions. Do you think Seven is actually accepting it? Or really just self pitying and telling themselves they do, that it’s for the best, and reminding themselves they should hate Mc because of their past?
This is a rewrite, it might not actually go into the final product. But all this time, it’s hammered into us that Seven is angry, that’s how they handle their shit. So while it might not say directly they’re angry, they’re angry. At Mc, at themselves, hell, probably the owner of the number since they don’t know it’s Dakota.
