Typhon- like mc is son of typhon or have powers like him
The mc must be trained by Hercules
The goddesses of the seasons! I’ve never read any containing them, and I really want to see how people characterize Chloris, my favorite Greek mythology figure
You mean Herakles
I love love love Athena, but she’s as major as they get. But I’d love to see her.
I also love the Muses, which aren’t minor but you could use a less used one like Clio or Euterpe or something.
Nymphs are fun, especially if you explore the differences between ocean and river nymphs (a cultural / philosophical difference)? Do nymphs have rivalries? Do the Heliconian nymphs seem more artsy? Do they feel like they’ve been stereotyped? Etc.
Female satyrs and centaurs aren’t often used in storytelling but they exist. Etc.
Depends on how faithful they want to stay in the greek mythology sphere. Female satyrs weren’t present there, they were invented a lot later. (But hey, it’s fiction so you can mix and match if you want to.)
Gotta love the way they really thought that’d work on Hera. I mean nothing like naming your son by her cheating husband after her is surely going to make her feel so much better about the whole situation
And the glory of Hera no less! The audacity!
I’ve always had a soft spot for Aeon, the god of cyclical time. Adding in the nymphs and Potamoi that would be spread all over Greece would be a nice touch. Aeolus and the Anemoi are always fun. Aristaeus would be nice to see, perhaps as a mentor figure.
Not exactly a character recommendation, but having a few chapters with the Argonauts might be cool, since it often seems like all the great heroes were with them for a little while.
Not a character recommendation at all, but having the MC occasionally hear about what other heroes are up to would be cool. Wandering through the agora of whatever city state you’re in and catching the latest excited news of Herakles’s labors could really add some mythic life to the setting. Plus, gradually slipping in the MC’s heroic exploits, with various levels of embellishment, could help add a sense of how the MC’s mythical status grows.
Not to be that guy, but I’d caution you against adding characters without any idea on what to do with them. Seems like a recipe for scope creep.
I don’t know if others have already said this, but I’d recommend hitting some of the major archetypes, such as the Trickster, the uber but foolish warrior, the wise one, etc. For me, if its Greek myths, and its romance orientated, satires and nymphs for the win, for sure.
P.S. let us romance the hundred handed?
I honestly would not hate it if the MC was able to romance Medusa and when he hears her story maybe he/she could go to Olympus and confront Poseidon and Athena. Another would be that once maybe Medusa confesses her love for you and do the same by giving hey a kiss, her curse could be lifted and she would be a beautiful woman again.
This comment literally unlocked a core memory for me, leading me to immediately go and binge-watch Sinbad; Legend of the Seven Seas—Safe to say that Eris (my beloved) will definitely be appearing as atleast a minor character, maybe even a fling option if you accept her quest and manage to complete it in a satisfactory enough manner ( ever wonder how she got the apple that started the Trojan War? are you down bad enough to literally risk stealing from the Queen of the Gods and start a war for the Lady Chaos’s favor…? )
Its funny you mention Athena’s mom, cause… well no spoilers, but a hint—the Titan of Deep Thought is still on the minds of certain individuals, including the prophecy still
I mean, at least he started of with good intentions. Everyone loves a himbo, after all! And who knows, with some guidance from you, his and Medea’s endings may be a bit different this time around,…
Now I’m heavily tempted to have a secret boss fight where she literally jumps you randomly if your Pride stats crosses 100… chances of victory? Abysmally slim. But if you actually manage to impress her enough and prove that your arrogance is not without backing? Well, the favor of a godess is no small feat. And the daughter of Primordial Night at that—? Thing will certainly get interesting…
there will be cameos, and there will be sea titans, and there will definitely be the polyamorous, partying, alcoholic, sometimes murder-hobo cult of our favourite gender-shifty mad god—though most of them are probably too busy riding dolphins, invading India, and fighting the dragon-eating Elephants there. Ya know, usual chill Wine-god stuff
man, this is such an awesome idea, but I’d have to turn this down for the moment—too much to chew at once I’m afraid. But a cameo or two might not be so bad…
Who doesn’t really? (did anyone hear a snake hiss? or was that a spider’s chirp? eh, probably nothing to worry about!) Now, no spoilers yet… but lets just say you’ll be one happy person once the game actually drops, let me tell you that!
And as for the Nymphs, I’m actually planning on having a whole village/settlement inspired by Riverdale from LOTR, which consists of Nature Spirits of all kind living together under Wild god Pan’s rule—that’s where you will find the answers to your questions! (as long as you don’t accidentally ride a flaming boar-snake chimera right into the middle of down; that might lock out some dialogue options and quests on the basis of becoming an enemy of nature itself. Typical hero stuff, you know how it goes)
Unfortunately no female satyrs or male nymphs/dryads here. In my lore, each nature spirit embodies a different extreme aspect/‘gender’—Satyrs are the wild, stubborn, and hot-headed Masculine, Nymphs are the fluid, tempramental, and graceful Feminine. Dryads are androgynous and plants typically have both stamen and pistil, so they represent the Non-binary, and the wind spirits Aurae are free-flowing, fickle, ever-shifting and never still, so they are the personification of Gender-fluid.
But a female Centaur is something that I can accommodate! They are called Centaurides, and while there’s no specific hero(ine) or named character, if the story veers in that direction I could definitely cook something up!
Please don’t be afraid to speak your mind, and being that guy—honestly, more people in the world need to hear from ‘that’ guy, a reality check in words. you were plenty polite as well, to props to that! There will be a pretty extensive cast of characters as I want to try and flesh out the characters as much as I can, even without taking in the ROs, but I plan on introducing and exploring the characters periodically and slowly as they are introduced, taking my time with them. Hope I can do them justice!
… this feels like something that one should put on those ‘hear me out’ cakes that are trending on insta and tiktock. I can’t promise a full romance, but maybe i’d make a one-shot on patreon or Kofi once I set them up, so keep an eye on that!
Ares, but really let him escape the stock bully jock archetype or villain role he gets so often locked into characterization wise.
like Hades he really does get vilified a lot in media for simply for doing his job.
compared to lot of the other gods, his surprisingly more decent than one would first think, among the Olympians his the only god to not have SA any of his list of lovers.
plus Ares was one to have created the Amazons in
place so safe to say he probably wont think women as fragile incapable beings either.
not to mention while he definitely hot-head and bloodthirsty not every fight he jumps into is without reason, during the battle of try he switches sides because his love Aphrodite asked him so, and when the gods are banned from further inferring Athena has to stop him from charging into because one of his kids get slain.
I just think Ares is interesting and has a lot more potential to be portrayed in a more nuanced light beyond being the Rarr war guy
Secret boss fight leading to romance option? XD
It would be interesting if you could get readers to follow a myth without them knowing. Like they could be going in boat adventure fighting monsters, doing shenanigans without realizing that they’re following the story of Jason and the Argonauts.
echoing the other contributions that the nymphs would be amazing, especially if you explore the differences between the different types!
i think thetis would definitely be a great addition since it’s juuust pre-troy, and the imagery of her dipping her son by his foot has always interested me. did she do it tenderly? carelessly? confidently? what did she do with him beforehand, or afterwards? i always wonder about her. so seeing an interpretation of her pre-troy would be interesting!
Wanted to see Diomedes
