Only kinda. The whole thing is really a mess how they handled it. Like, there’s no gender choice, there’s voice choice which assumes gender (a very annoying thing) and that’s obviously distinct from which body you pick, but those bodies, like all in real life, don’t necessarily mean anything regarding gender. Having two of the ROs being locked into a generalized body type paired with a voice/gender and two where only body type matters is just a messy situation, but it doesn’t mean anyone is bi or not. It just means like, Panam is into men and non-transitioning trans women? Which, if that were to reflect on the character, is extremely shitty. And vice versa for River, with women and non-transitioning trans men. With their system of voice=gender, that should’ve been the distinguisher, not the body in any level.
And, technically, Kerry is explicit bi/pan in canon, he’s just not into a girl V for one reason or another.
It particularly shouldn’t in the context of Cyberpunk, where characters can have entire separate bodies that they can convert themselves into (the inherent drawbacks to full-body conversions are pretty severe, mind, but that ain’t exactly stopping people).
You’d think, and yet there are canonically people out looking for a cure for cyberpsychosis, and at least one or two of the cases you investigate as part of that quest chain involve people who absolutely know that someone close to them is losing it, but they’re trying to work around the problem as best they can (to unfortunate results), so evidently, even the threat of a partner going ballistic and turbo murdering you isn’t enough of a deterrent for some.
That said, I feel like the risk of cyberpsychosis would rate a smidge higher on the Ladder of Things To Be Worried About than preferred body shapes. One has a much higher risk of seeing you torn limb from limb, after all.
Honestly I feel like ‘partner might go cyberpsycho in the midst of sex due to swapping out literally their entire body’ might be as much a turn off as ‘im not attracted to these kind of biodies’
I mean, the term is ‘high tech low life’ not ‘high tech high life’
The game pretty much says Cyberpsychosis is fake tho and it’s all just untreated mental issues and faulty tech rather than some kind of specific disease.
If we’re talking about the tabletop where Cyberpsychosis is a real thing, then the whole body discussion become even dumber because the current ‘Omniscient Narrator’ explanation for Cyberpsychosis is that it’s a disconnect between the brain / spirit and the body and it included the caveat that sex-change stuff is exempt because trans people were ‘always had a brain / spirit from the other sex’.
Which create the problem that under that logic, Trans People should thus be cyberpsychos from birth until they get said sex change, which the tabletop never corrected.
The same problem arise in people who are immune to cyberpsychosis and can go full conversion without ill effect, that would mean they were always basically all robot in mind but then why weren’t they cyberpsychos from birth until they got said full conversions?
In general the game’s take on cyberpsychosis is better than the tabletop and it’s the one praise I’ll give it.
Shadowrun is still better than both tho because the ‘Essence’ explanations make a lot more sense and create less in-universe contradiction.
So yeah, trying explain the ROs from a Cyberpsychosis lens just make it more of a mess.
I just replayed Love At Elevation and it didn’t really work for me honestly. The ROs (with the exception of L, the ex) are kind of one RO with a different description and occupation? When I first played, I went with R, and she was a triathlete with a bad relationship with her father, who frequents a triathlon themed bar and has a friend called Glen who’s a lawyer and a questionable history with K where K maybe stole one of her partners.
All well and good, until I played again with K, an activist with a bad relationship with her father, who frequents the same triathlon themed bar and has the same lawyer friend called Glen and has a questionable history with J where J maybe stole one of her partners?? The only path that is truly unique is L’s because they aren’t even in Boulder and it has to take place over messages! It’s a very strange way to do multiple ROs, I thought.
It’s been a while I’ve played both of stories, so I probably I’ll spell their names wrong.
First off is Narcy(or Darcy) from Professor of Magical Studies, buddy, I’ve never saw such annoying, fragmented person like them. Long story short, they are your rival professor in the college, and they were a colleague/friend from the same college which you were studying. They sabotage you, a lot, but they come back to lick your wounds, and it gets annoying and confusing pretty quickly. No thanks, I prefer the voice in my head as a LI(yeah, it’s possible) and Hayden over them, thank you very much.
The second one is Anathos(probably spelled wrong) from The Crown of Sorcery and Steel, he’s a human cook, who become captain of guard somehow, he seems okay-ish until some point of the game he tries to convince the mc to do some things behind our party members for the “sake of humanity”, like kill dwarves for their steel and armor, betray our orc member to get the orc empire in our favour, etc. To be fair, he’s not the only one who does this type of subterfuge behind the other party members and try to convince the mc to do it for “the greater good”, but still irks me off since I like men and I probably would choose him as LI.
This is Abuser Tactics 101, and that’s the intended effect.
I really don’t like the idea of villain or “red flag” romances. Like I’m probably in the minority about this but I just don’t understand how people can romance people like Manekol.
Oh, and I also don’t like romancing characters who hurt my character either during the game or before it or characters who force my character to join them. Just makes me want to be a petty asshole for the whole game.
Call me the blond whisperer because Darcy became soft as silk in my run, occasional bitchiness aside. I expected a raging durian raccoon feral hissing cat of Seven level, but they are essentially just a tsundere that occasionally throws wrenches into your work. I had much more issues with students, research and suppressing homicidal urges with most of the staff at the scene!
I expected an absolute mess of a pair with Darcy not willing to give up an inch, much less a mile and absolute drama. I opposed them at a lot of occasions, I threw a wrench in kind and we still dated, and they still got the cheevo for supposedly becoming a better person.
I’m actually disappointed. All this locking me in the room and attempts to fuck me over boil down to insecurity and low self-esteem ambitions mindset? It’s so easy to break the bad blood between you two! Why did you even bother, you bleeding dumbass?
Almost all the times I go for a villain ro I’m playing as a villain mc so they are not really much better then them. As for abusive ro’s I do agree with you. I can understand people having a fetish for that kind of thing but not them actually liking the character who is doing it.

Not any specific ones, but the ROs who’s gender is revealed to be another bugs me to no end. I don’t mean that they are openly trans, that’s fine. Or if the character slowly becomes trans as she/he/they realize their gender identity, that makes sense that they would be a different gender at the start. What I do have a problem with though as a non-Bi person is someone who’s BEEN another gender this whole time, but for some reason the game fails to mention this until semi-late into the game. Like, come on… I invested all of that time, man! A good example of this would be in Drink Your Villain Juice, I forgot the name of the character exactly, but I will never forget how they baited my agh 
Are you talking about Rampage, a trans woman, who has always been a woman as long as we’ve known her in the game, whose gender did not change after coming out as trans
I… think? I dunno, I forgot, I played a very early version of the demo. I intend to wait until the demo reaches it late game before playing again. If that’s the character I remember, then yeah. She’s a trans woman, which I have no problem with, but I’m frankly not attracted to. This fact was revealed mid game, where I was already in her romance path.
Then it wasn’t her gender that was the issue, and was hidden, as you said originally. If I understand correctly.
Her gender was female the whole time.
I do agree that if a RO is hiding their gender (like, a woman pretending to be male, so she can become a knight), I’d want to know so before I lock into her romance path.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case here?
If you only want to romance cis characters, it’s probably best to research character details before starting the romance.
