I'm Sorry, But I Think We Should See Other People - ROs You Hate

In defense of Cressida, she grows a lot during the second game and really doesn’t treat MC like a political prop, unlike for most of the first game

Okay. Do you want some dramatic reaction now? :thinking:

Wait, lemme see - Ah! How’s this:

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! :broken_heart: heart! :broken_heart: heart! :broken_heart:
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! :skull_and_crossbones: my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear ~~ :heart: Hayden! :heart: ~~
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead. :sob:

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still; :pleading_face:
My changeling does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead. :saluting_face: :disappointed_relieved:

Happy? :stuck_out_tongue:

Bruh are you really sure about that if Davina is trying to protect her uncle from telling mc the truth the same goes for Cressida who don’t want people knowing her dad is the head of a compulsion loyalty test for nephilims no matter how you sugar coat it she can’t be love by a good character only one that is evil and will manipulate others for their own benefits almost close to the end of part 2 she even threatens her aunt with compulsion and expect us to roll with it even at the beginning of the game just thinking about that picture with her was just so wrong there is no love or if there is I am blind by her intimidating aura to do whatever it takes she has no redeeming qualities this is just a love of intrigue

I mean, I can’t rightly say that I’m surprised Cressida is maybe not a great person, pretty much all your classmates are inextricably tied to politics or shady dealings of some nature.

Hell, the early posts in the WIP for book three were all about people REALLY not taking it well that Seraphina is pragmatic before romantic and would absolutely kill your character in a moment if she had to.

But wait this is where the difference come Seraphina is kinda understandable weird and pragmatic but she still have a heart even though she shows it in a bookworm/being cold kind of way I will still date her for the burdens she beared as a child and her loyalty as a friend as Katia describe she is one that still have a choice to be reborn as a phoenix while Cressida is just there to question my mind why I didn’t take time to see her true self before it was too late and between the two that will likely use compulsion freely without restraint will be Cressida while Seraphina understands the feeling and refuses to use it maybe only for education

That was such a dumb thing to get mad about lol. Especially when they tried to say that means she doesn’t love you because she had precautions in place.

Oh you don’t have to tell me, I was one of the ones arguing in FAVOR of her actions!

The poor author, too, they got caught off guard by how up in arms people were about it.

Cressida doesn’t want the public to find out that her father has been mine controling people? I wonder why? Maybe it’s because her father‘s political opponents want her to be ritually sacrificed and said mind control will make sure that the people being screened can be trusted and won’t go along with a stupid idea like that? The ethics of the compulsion is debatable but the reasons behind it or not. And yes, I agree the explosive uproar about Sera’s comments in the demo of the third game were thrown extremely out of proportion. And I’m personally disappointed that the text in particular got removed

The author removed that bit? Man, that’s crappy. There was nothing wrong with it!

But, well, I do remember how many posts that argument went on for, so I suppose I can’t be surprised if the author took it out just to get people to shut up about it.

So, I was that girl in the WIP thread that offered to romance McCready so no one has to. I am so going to bleach my eyes with a Sean run once the romances are finally implemented lol.

Lol same. But with the knowledge that you can kill the “family” in the future, there is something juicy and satisfying about the literal hellish offspring of Voldemort and Umbridge being killed by the girl forking him. And possibly taking over his sin in the process. Kinda like the Black Widow run in New Vegas, except the dude is the literal spawn of satan, and not Chandler Bing lol.

There’s gonna be some hilarious reactions when the true Wrath turns out to not be the bigoted zealot vet or the total fucking edgelord asshole, but is actually this 2015-era hipster Tumblr lesbian they picked up along the way >:)

O.O I never got the Gwyndal scene. Yikes!

If I remember correctly, taking the shower is optional, so maybe that’s why you missed it. But I was planning on replaying it anyhow, because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything with regards to that scene and there really being no true option to tell him off. Or at least none with a remotely satisfying result.

@LGonza LOL It’s so much worse than I remembered!

Oh I TOTALLY meant to hurt you!

D: why was that written??? Like, literally all of it is soooo uncomfortable. And you’re forced to apologize like it’s your fault and they’re the victim! That’s so horrific. I feel gross after that :c

Eesh, for all my complaints about the cast of Shadow Society, I somehow had forgotten how bad this particular character was. I suppose props to the author for really hammering in how we’re NOT supposed to like this guy. (Unless the intent was to LIKE him? Lordy-loo, I hope not)

I feel like this is closer to the truth based on the fact that you don’t get to legitimately retaliate and apologize after your best option (and he finds you defending yourself from his sexual assault fucking hilarious which is so fucking vile)…

Huh, well, in the ancient words of the wise:

@ElliWoelfin Even if you leave the assault out of the equation, this entire scene is a total mess and very bizarre and all over the place tonally. I mean no disrespect to Carawen here by saying that, but it reads like an early draft.

@Zyrios You don’t “have to” like Gwyndal, and he’s definitiv creepy in other ways too, but the overall narration doesn’t frame him as a villain or antagonist in my opinion. That would be the Shadowman for as long as we don’t understand the situation in the shadow world better.

I think I remember Carawen mentioning after the fact that this was their first time writing an IF story, and it was very seat-of-the-pants and edgy without any clear indication of where they were actually trying to go with the plot. I figure if they ever do a sequel, it’ll probably be a solid step up from the first entry, because even they recognize that the first had many areas to improve upon.

Mind you, this doesn’t stop the cast of the story from being kinda “meh” all around for me, even the ones I liked.

Yes, but this is different than the other issues the story has, like overall pacing here and there. It really sticks out to me, because the other one on one scenes with the main cast are actually well-written. But this is straying away from the actual topic of the thread, so I’ll just say I hope this scene will be heavily edited, for multiple reasons.
