💁 Maybe a person who’s IQ goes up the more people are around them, but if they are isolated for a long period of time they go in to a comatose state.
Yeah you’re definitely right its popular but sadly I’ve not seen it in many games
Power to control the very essence of universe belongs only to the Author.
The editor and publisher have the final word on that – perhaps we should give our budding super heroes the power of an editor or those of the publisher?
But what about Audience? They make the fanfics.
This thread is about super heroes not villains … the audience is fanatical and dogmatic in their pursuit of the author’s vision, and they love to steal away the author’s power, one conspiracy theory at a time.
Now I’m just thinking of exactly how powerful it would be to have an editorial power for everything. You’d essentially just be playing God with the ability to tweak events or fact to your idea, although perhaps one of the ways to limit that would be that the superpower can’t be used to create something from nothing: there has to be something already existing to change it; and you wouldn’t be able to drastically alter things to such a degree that the event would lose it’s initial purpose in history and whatnot.
In fact i have some interesting ideas on this(i blame my hero Academia)
But Limb Manipulation it is where you can remove and control your limbs at the same time.
Ex. Throwing your arm at someone then said arm catching the person and binding them.
Your legs can charge at someone while you amd your arms are grappling another person
The power to reach into spells and mess with them. Can’t cast any of your own though.
That’s telepathic suggestion rather than compulsion ![]()
Have you been watching JourneyQuest?![]()
Actually suggestion from JourneyQuest- Retromancer. The power to get the opposite effect for any spell cast. For example if you cast a healing spell on a dying person, instead of bringing them back to life, you’d cause them die and come back as a zombie instead. Or mend spells unravel fabric instead of sewing it together etc.
Others: Microtelekinesis- the ability to affect things on a tiny scale such as influencing RNG’s, electronic signal interference or boosting, interference with electronics etc.
Powers similar to the Shadow King in Legion- ie hitching a ride in the back of a person’s mind. Not taking them over but just influencing, causing delusion/nightmares. Transferring his own or the conciousness of others between bodies etc.
Ability to teleport, but with little to no control over the location.
Dreamwalkers. (Can do a lot of interesting stuff this this one as well as just the obvious but don’t seem to see it alot in popular movies/tv especially. Example that does it well: Wheel of time, but could also go down the dreamguide/totem path, or just use it to influence, communicate or spy on others while asleep.)
The ability to temporarily trap people in dreamworlds and/or reorder time for a day (aka this guy
)
I’ve seen this on a British show called misfit’s. It was pretty cool how he used his powers.
Ah that’s cool, haven’t seen that. Will have to see if I can find it to have a look. I’ve only ever seen it in JourneyQuest. As Perf says, conjuring milk is a far more versatile spell than you’d think lol
Drawing summoning
Character can draw with its hands and super fast
After finishing a drawing the character can summon and control it by touching in the drawing.
More time spend means more detailed drawings wich would allow it to have more uses(like, making a humanoid shaped drawing would only allow it to move like a human, now, if it has some time spent in it, the drawing can even reproduce a human mind, being able to speak, do more complicated actions and thinking by itself, even if stills under the characters control).
The drawings melt into cheap ink after the character is out of a certain amount of ft. Reach of the summoned creature or object and can only summon a certain amount of those creatures and or objects for a certain time.
Overcharge
Can overcharge anything it touches or see in cerrain range causing it to explode(cool power for a villain of some sort)
A limitation would be that it is quite a weak explosion if the character is not touching it, and also it cant explode moving things without touching them or something like that
Things it could do
-overcharge the air itself causing powerfull blows of air to go in any direction
-put down walls by simply touching them
-instakilling even someone with a metal/super-resistent/thick skin individual
Between many others.
Decaying ashes
Can manipulate a special type of ashes that decays anything it touches. Also, probably being unaffacted by age and sickness.(this one falls more in the magical/supernatural stuff, but stills cool)
Sure, they’re quite overpowered, but you can always make it weaker, or stronger, to fit the story.
Making someone decay just by touching them would be cool
So I have been working on a super power book and yes, I have been in your situation of finding unique powers as well.
When conceptualizing powers, I tend to do two methods:
a.) Choose a power that is regularly known (ex. heat vision, flight) and give it a unique gimmick and/or downside. (ex. manipulating metal but only while holding one’s breath, sonic screams but the user is also harmed by the loudness of their scream). These will open up cool moments that show a character going around said gimmick and could open up many, many other opportunities for a character. My examples are bit bad since they show these gimmicks as a downside but they can be used for additional upsides to a power.
b.)Downright unique powers. This is a bit general, but I first look at animals and human bodily functions for ideas, then put/enhance them onto a human character. For example, a character who could perform echolocation or a human with increased skin sensitivity that they can detect movement in oxygene molecules in the air by feeling it (but it makes them really easy to hurt).
reading a book while writing a book… no just me?
How about something that can be used for non-combat, but still be pretty useful? One example could be being able to absorb impurities in water, soil, and/or air.
Like if a villain were to have that ability, it could serve as an interesting dilemma for the fact many people would rely on said villain for pure and non-polluted soil/air/water!
I would say that one of the most powerful and less popular superpower would be Illusion Power/Ability
This is an interpretation of mine.
This power would let you manipulate your enemies, making them see, hear, feel (, etc) whatever you want. The user can affect their mind to the point where their body will recreate real pain and damage.
For example; you can “create” a bunch of spears and skewer your enemy with them (inflicting pain), affecting their perception of the world, immobilize their movements with illusions (ropes, chains…), etc.
Pros
- You can manipulate the perception of anyone.
- Inflicting pain with your illusions.
- Your imagination is the limit.
Cons
- This power is useless against robots, machines, etc.
- You can’t recreate real wounds, just make the target feel pain.
- Your ability effectiveness depends on the enemy’s mental resistance.
(Not a bad superpower if you ask me

)
I don’t think this power is underrated because it’s usually linked with or associated with Telepathy. If you look at almost every telepath/psychic in Marvel comics or DC comics they usually have the ability to create illusions because they’re mind-readers.
However, I don’t think it’s used as often as it could be or should be by said telepaths because they could definitely psychologically torment their enemies into seeing their worst fears made a reality causing them to become too scared to fight back but it seems like they don’t. I guess it’s because it wouldn’t seem very “heroic” to put the fear of death into a villain resulting in them becoming mentally broken.
I can offer two resources that can give the OP some ideas.
The first one being this https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Superpower_Wiki
This is a Wiki that is dedicated to the idea of cataloging all types of superpowers. My favorite one is this https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Paint_Attacks
The second one is a “TV Tropes” page see link here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HeartIsAnAwesomePower.
