I Would Like to Thank the CoG Community

Over the years I have never had a problem with off topic. If the writer asks that it is put back on topic then if that fails to happen then you might see some flags. If the writer has not been in the topic for a time and then a mod may ask it to go back on topic, if that fails to happen then they will lock it. There might be a few that take it a bit more serious but they are few in between, again I have never seen a problem. With that said I will get back on topic. I have loved being here since i first singed up so so long ago.

@Prof_Chaos If you’ve a problem with the moderators decision, please feel free to contact any or all of us to discuss it. You can also talk to @Mary_Duffy or @RETowers.

We don’t actually control who flags posts, that’s the community at large.

We do prefer that posts are on topic, even on WIP threads. The primary purpose of the community is Choice of Games, after all, and of the WIP threads, it’s to help with the creation of games. Often that can get drowned out by a lot of off-topic chatter, and then people can be discouraged from offering their own help.

I see a few posts on a tangent as not a huge problem. It’s just when it goes on, and on, then it’s best to either start a new thread, or take it to PMs.

However, I for one, only know if a post is off-topic on a WIP thread if a member of the community flags it. That means that at least one person, is bothered by the off-topicness, and the flag can be the equivalent of ā€œhey, can we get back on topicā€.

And speaking of tangents, maybe we should get back to Thanking the Community.

I’d like to thank @FairyGodfeather for finally explaining how to get a Beta Tester Extraordinaire title, the other day. I had trouble figuring that out until enlightened. Hopefully this puts me back on track :dolphin: :dolls: :mouse2:

I’m glad we–members, mods, and all–can talk out issues like this. In some forums, any discussion about how things are run is quickly shot down.

Aww. Love you guys too!

I’m glad I joined this forum. I’ve been playing CoG for, what, 4 years now? But I only joined the forum a few months ago, and I’m glad I did, because this is one of the few place where I can be myself and be accepted for it.

Buy that’s mainly because most of you are all weirdos and Psychopaths like me. (I’m looking at you, @Doctor, @Wire_Ryse, and @Zilla!)

Yay for us Weirdos and Psychopaths!

Hey!

That’s Mister Psychopath to you!

You sure? Cause last I checked, I thought it was Emperor Psychopath, not mister.

No no no.

I’m trying to be fancy.

Psychopaths like to maintain at least a degree of civility.

Fair enough. :yum:

Thank you so much for making this thread, Mirabella. I’ve loved reading everyone’s thoughtful contributions.

I love Choice of Games. I love their goals. I love the inclusivity. I’ve never come across a community like this.

I like that we’ve got a mix of people here, from all walks of life and experiences, and that we tend to listen to each other, respectfully, even when we end up agreeing to disagree. I’ve learned a lot being here.

I’ve found everyone so wonderfully approachable, from the other moderators, to the Choice of Games team, and the game authors.

I’ve played so many amazing games here. And there’s far too many now for me to even have played them all. I just love how many WIPs we’ve got, and how many people we have dedicated to helping with those, providing feedback and support that’ll make them the best games possible.

I could start naming names, but there’s far too many of them to do so.

Tenryu’s The Seven Winds (https://forum.choiceofgames.com/t/the-seven-winds-wip) was the game that got me to join the forum, and is still a game I miss. It showed me how magical all these WIP could be.

@LordIrish deserves a special mention. If not for his annual contest I wouldn’t have stuck around. I certainly wouldn’t have learned choicescript. I still remember that first year participating, and how much fun it was, because it was, being able to write like that, to get so engrossed in it, to push my limits. Winning? Well winning meant the world to me, in so many more ways than I can explain. I was struggling between paying for food and heating at the time, and just having that money there. It sort of showed me, this was a path, something that I could do, something at least one person valued.

I also want to thank @JasonStevanHill who is absolutely amazing. He goes above and beyond, and he juggles so many different balls for this community, and just does so much. I’ve always found him incredibly nice, and approachable.

I could make the list go on. I could thank individual mods, I could thank individual community members, but I’d undoubtedly leave someone out, and it’d sound rather mushy and confused anyway.

I think these forums are such a great place though, and what makes them that is everyone here.

 I would want to thank you @FairyGodfeather as you do so much for the community at large. Always patient and caring, what would we do with out you. I have a huge list of those that I could thank here for so many reasons, but it would take hours to read. This forum has always felt like home and friends may come and go but they ARE never forgotten. I love how when a writer returns after being gone for a long stretch it feels like we are partying at their return.

Could you please explain that to me too?

@NJG The Beta-Tester Extraordinaire badge is given out by Jason. It’s for consistently good, indepth, feedback during beta-tests of the official games.

My turn!

In this place, I feel so welcome. Writing is a hobby I do everyday and this site helps connect with other writers, make friendships and share our ideas together. I also love making people laugh and inspire them with grand ideas without sending things way too chaotic (@Cecilia_Rosewood I have you to thank for keeping me in line for that )

Special thanks to @Snowpanther, @Wraith, @UmbraLamia, @HuntedSnake for making me feel like a part of the gang keeping me constantly writing stuff, even if it’s a character or two. It keeps me motivated and sharp.

Also I would like to thank @Zolataya, @Lycoris and @SiROSTRiKE who keep me reminded on projects I have in the works and not letting me forget them. Seriously guys, thank you for that. I would have so many projects gone down the drain and forgotten if it weren’t for you.

My partner in crime @Taylor_Enean who has the exact same humour as me. She makes me feel less weird and more weird at the same time. I count her as a very good friend here

Special mention to @Packet the canine who’s stories always brighten up my day and never fail to leave me in hysterical laughter. You deserve a medal for this. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t make crazy shenanigans as often as I do

The mods for keeping the peace and making sure this place civil and enjoyable. This is the most peaceful and social place I’ve ever discovered.

And to the rest of the forum lurkers, regulars and everybody else. You keep this place alive and thriving and sole reason this place is still going. Kudos to you all.

Now the thanks are out of the way. Back to creating orderly chaos!

@Nathan_Faxon

How can chaos be orderly? I don’t understand it.
