Something about Lydia that I don’t think I’ve seen brought up: She’s either profoundly misunderstood of how the condition of thin blood actually works, or she’s lying to herself. Every time she talks about the thin blood as a condition, she describes it in terms of being a personal failing of some sort, an innate quality of character that prevents a person from taking to the blood and becoming a true kindred, when in truth the only factor that determines if one becomes a thin blood or a “true” kindred is how many generations removed from Caine your sire is.
This is either a direct parallel to the notion that some people have where poor people are poor and rich people are rich due solely to the quality of their moral fibre, or she’s just straight up in denial of her ability to sire any childre that aren’t thin blooded. Possibly both.I think it’s looked over because she only brings it up twice, and only once in any great detail, during a scene where most readers have bigger things to focus on.
She’s intentionally lying to you, exactly the same way and for the same reason that some billionaires and their apologists lie about wealth - and racial supremacists lie about race - for the reasons you’ve already articulated.
Is Lydia primarily interested in hunting the thinbloods because she thinks it’ll win her prestige and acclaim in the court, or out of a sense of personal betrayal and vengeance over her childer turning traitor?
So I’ve been trying to romance Lydia but when I get to her office in act 4 theses options are greyed out? “I mean you are so powerful. You could handle this yourself couldn’t you?” and specially “Do I have to spell it out? You’re gorgeous, you’re cultured, and I can’t stop fucking thinking about you.”
It really depends. Most are truly, well, not humane in any sense. VtM Bloodlines 1 and VtM Redemption (or just straight VtR?) seems to enlighten on the idea of how there are vampires that do, in fact, keep a check on their humanity.
Well this time around giving power to a violent, somewhat mentally unstable, angry, unsociable, cynical, paranoid and quite possibly psychotic person work out well for everyone who was involved…besides Lydia, Roderick and the rest of his thin-bloods, Zheng’s relationship with his son, Mandy unresolved issues with her family though really she should feel lucky my mc didn’t have a opportunity to ruin things there too, probably Three-Eyes and Dead Red sometime in the future, that “kid” that my mc scarred, some other people who I’m probably not remembering, and probably a “few” more people atop of that in the future
At least Wil was happy
Anyways I had fun with it even if it wasn’t one of my favorites of your games
I like to imagine that giving power to my mc was Jangles one last fuck you to Three-Eyes, Dead Red and anyone else who make him miserable with their constant bullshit
You’re not that far off. Jangles basically picks you because you’re new enough not to have been compromised by either side - because he knows that if either Three-Eyes or Dead Red win, neither will be able to hold on to power without doing bad things to their many enemies.
