Getting into the readers head space, there have been a few stories that made me cringe but I couldn’t stop reading, it was watching a train wreck or disaster unfold, its horrible but you cant take your eyes off it or get the idea out of your head.
Its these little mental hangups that grab me, those compelling but horrible things. The problem with horror is that its very leading in writing it tends to pull the reader along with it rather than allow them to explore. So what I’m saying that fear and horror thrive on taking away control which is one of the bases of fear, along with the unknown and the unavoidable/unstoppable.
Essentially horror is figuring people out and then dismantling them on a psychological level, or like figuring out a rubics cube everyone has a particular pattern and most living things have a basic set to start with.
