You can raise more than one characters love level although they all have different personalities so it will be more difficult

No you cannot two time people nor have I planned rivalry between romance options

Once you are dating someone - well at the moment the story does not involve break ups due to the fact that this is the characters freshman year of highschool. In later years there will be the option of breaking up but nothing planned for freshman year at the moment

The romance plot is that you build up friendship and love by meeting the person and socialising with them and completing their sub story

Yes you can complete more than one sub story but again it will be difficult and you will still be directed to the person who likes you the most. I am a bit wary of multiple relationships as it would be difficult to code people’s alternative reactions to you and each other.

Basically there will be a large school event towards the end of the year and you will be able to ask out the person you like if you have high enough love & friendship and you have completed their sub story.

So it would be a choice like

Ask out person a
Or
Ask out person b
Or
Ask out person c

A romance will then begin, although this will be late in the game.

Once you have chosen someone then romance scenes with other characters will be stopped

Question do you think it would be better if I made provision for jealousy and choices between two people?

I am not going to write two timing but will at least try to incorporate ideas that people think would improve the game.

What about having a “friend with benefits?” And having sex with multiple people (though not always in the same moment) is increasingly on the rise among high school students.

EDIT: I forgot to add this little bit: you absolutely do not have to take this particular post seriously.

Can you interact with more people because I am in year9 at school I am quite popular among my friends because am an athlete, and a nice guy- I guess- and what I understand in year7 up to 8 people just go out with other people just to look cool, to make it realistic depending on your
choices- can your girlfriend- boy friend- split up with you after month because that’s what happens,

Can you get into the school by differnt ways like, scholarships, being kicked out, moving away, stuff like that to make it more profound and more interesting,

But instead of having 3 people you can romance and 3 people who are your friends

Just from a guys prospective

It will be a lot more realistic if you have about 10 close friends 5 people who are okay
3 girls who have a crush on you
5 people who everyone wants to go out with

I do understand about what is common among high school students - in England I am in sixth form (second to last year)

The problem would be - apart from the difficulties of writing such a relationship - adding friend with benefits would make the app an 18 from what I can understand - the logistics

For example what would happen if 2 people you were having a relationship - however informal met with you at the same time - I would have to write an entirely different scene, probably several

Also once you have chosen a romance option you will then play that persons story

The best I can describe it is like shira oka second chances which is a game. You can raise your relationship with anyone and complete their subplot story but about 2/3 through the game you will pick one person and that characters story will play - an entirely different one for each person.

This will add replay value and what you say and do during the final third - the personal story - and there will also be stat checks to pass - will directly affect the epilogue and ending - you can pass the exams and be fine academically and the game will acknowledge this

But you could suck at romance and end up in an unhappy relationship in the epilogue - if say your character does not build a strong relationship, does not find and solve their partners problem during the partners story, or simply acts mean and unkind.

There will be a no romance option path at the end where you can focus on your grades

This path will still allow you to have friends just no romance.

Sorry if I have taken your post seriously but I have to explain why it is not feasible for me to add in friends with benefits or casual sex

I am not criticizing, I instead just want to make my limitations clear

Logically if the rating was 18 then high school students would not be able to legally buy it
Also there is the moral issue of appearing to advocate casual sex. Also the character is a freshman - clearly underage. The romance will end with a kiss, or maybe a fade to black.

JLBH i am in year 12 but I am currently 18. I was held back two years due to illness so I am currently the oldest in my year.

The school I go to is private and very small - as in max class numbers in sixth form is 5.
So I will freely admit my lack of knowledge

To address your issue coding more people will be very hard however there is a solution which I have planned.

In the school there will be factions/cliques and while the people in them will have names your relationship with them will be measured as a group. So for example

Group: People who like to study

A
B
C
D

Relationship bar — 87%

does that make it a bit clearer for you.

please note that this is only freshman year so in subsequent years, if I manage to finish this one, will have new characters. This is supposed to be a story throughout high school after all.

I originally designed this as a story with the 6 OCs being important characters so adding more people would be hard for me. Let

Yes your boyfriend/girlfriend can split up with you in the epilogue if you act badly. But the actual asking out happens late in the game so you will have only been together for a few months.

Thanks for your input, I was always the socially behind person who got left out so it helps to have a more accurate viewpoint

As to having a back-story I will look into it but the game is quite hard to code being gender sensitive. Were you thinking more of a background affecting peoples reactions to you, or your starting stats - or both.

Option A would be harder than Option B

The whole dating to look cool idea is very intriguing but again I am not confident in my ability to code such scenes.

it would be great with that how ever way you got into the school effects your stats for example

I play for chesterfieldF.C which is a pro football-(soccer)- team I play for the youth juniour set up, if I got the school for my athletic ability it would be awesome if that was a choice and it effected your stats,

It would be nice to have the ability to romance earlier, because then you have a more intriguing set up- but I understand if you opt not to

Will there be a soccer team that you can try out and play for the school and then later in your school you get scouted for a soccer team, and you have to try and keep up your

Hello it has been a hectic day of schoolwork but I have persevered and…

I have a new demo with the basic back stories worked in.

There is also a list of the clubs you can join - yes the sewing club (more accurately named handicrafts is available) LadyPsychopath

There is also a Soccer team JLBH2000 and there will be tryouts. Backgrounds also affect your stats although I would like some ideas as to how - at the moment only some backgrounds have added stats.

Next update: I am working on the personality/house/class sorting system and hopefully next update there will be the first opposed personality bars

for example there will be an introvert and extrovert bar which will be affected by how you act as well as a politeness/insolence bar.

The demo will be down for a few minutes while I replace the link but will post new one soon!

It sounds good so far; I’m already liking my character, and I like how you can to an extent choose your family :slight_smile:

All I have to critique is that you watch your punctuation. There were some places where there should have been commas after introductory phrases, such as:

“As a freelance graphic designer[comma]your father…” or “A naturally outgoing child[comma]you felt that…” or “Always a bit of a rebel[comma]you could not resist…” or “However[comma]living in such a creative environment…”

Just some petty grammatical things, but that’s the only thing I could see to critique, really. It seems pretty interesting so far, and I love academically based dramas, lol

As far as the romance is concerned, personally as a male character I do not romance female characters, so I hope you do include at least one homosexual romance option. That’s just my preference, though. If you don’t I would probably still play the game, just without romancing any of the girls.

As a side note, I’m glad that you’re planning on incorporating the idea of being commented upon if you choose to be a boy in the sewing club (or girl on the football team).

Not that I’m pro-stereotype or anything, but I like a game where you’re choices actually affect how people respond to you. I’m mean, what’s the point of choosing a stat if it makes no difference in the gameplay, you know? I think it will make things more interesting and realistic.

Not a fan of the sporting options. American football and basketball tend to be the more popular high school sports here in America. I’ve seen a few high school basketball and football games being aired on national television. I have never seen any of the sports currently listed aired on national television. Just me being nit picky.

Thank you for the feedback - I they are the most common school sports at my school. But I live in England and I am a girl so I admit my ignorance of boys sports in America.

Please reply or pm which sports you think should be included and which ones removed from the list.

Feedback helps a lot - I was originally going to have no background information which I now see would be a big mistake.

Any suggestions will be taken into account and I would rather have them earlier when I can still recode the beginning game with a little effort rather than have to rewrite an entire section later on.

Yaoibloodhound I will correct my grammar ASAP - as in next update ASAP.

I will also pose an open question about including same sex romances. It would be a lot of effort to develop more characters so it would only happen if there was significantly large interest.

Also you can play a normal no romance path or a friendship path with a friend of the same sex - see their story just no romance.

So if you want same sex romances please comment.
