Heroes Rise -- Releasing Friday!

Anyone know if this is playable on kindle for PC since I would rather like to avoid furnishing Google with any more data about me than is strictly necessary, especially when I already have an account with Amazon.

I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to pick our power set, but I guess that would’ve been a bit too complicated, and this is a pretty good set anyway.

I still really like it, though, but I am a sucker for super heroes. :stuck_out_tongue:

I haven’t played the full version yet, though. Hopefully soon.

Disappointing, that’s all.

I like more or less I have to admit I would have liked to pick my powers as well but the ones you get are pretty nice and adaptable.

It’s up on the site now.

I think the main problem I had with the game in beta is something that will probably be exacerbated by the description it has on the site. Specifically, I had expected it to be about becoming a superhero and gaining power and rising in prestige. It isn’t actually about any of those things, really. It’d be a huge spoiler to go into any detail on that, so that’s all I’ll say, but I just think people should try it out online for free before they decide they want to buy it based on the description. It’s a good, well written game, but it never made me feel like like my character was a superhero.

EDIT: Oh, there’s a second page…

@Shoelip,
And the fact that it’s exactly the same as it was in beta, with no new stuff.

Well you can’t really expect them to add much from Beta to release. I mean, technically a beta is supposed to be feature complete. I did hope they would though.

Yea me too.

I didn’t play the beta, but I’ve just finished playing through the game once, and loved the story. If anything could have been improved, in my opinion, it would have been the final fight scene with the main antagonist; the scene lost its sense of urgency because of all of the explanation. I like knowing the information, but next time through, I’ll try skipping at least some of it and see if that makes the story read better.

I definitely felt like my character was a superhero, something like a Spiderman character, but with different powers, of course. I’m looking forward to playing again and making different choices, just to see how things might go differently.

Just downloaded for Chrome

Played through the Chrome download a couple of times.

First: The game doesn’t respect any player decisions with regard to Black Magic, including deciding to walk out on her. I consider that extremely silly for a CoG, especially when, y’know, she’s a manipulative jerk who doesn’t care about your opinions or feelings. Railroading the player into being a lovesick idiot is REALLY bad romance writing. That’s a scene I’d prefer to be able to abort.

Other than that, it was well-written and very superhero-esque. Still have no idea how I’m going to get the highest possible Legend, though.

@eposic: I felt that the main antagonist having a massive amount of exposition was really fitting for the genre.

I loved it, just finished first play through and felt it all meshed nicely

I enjoyed the game overall, had hoped to pick my own power set, but meh. The only thing that got on my nerves was that my character seemed to lose a lot, may have just been my choices but the only fight I felt that I truly won was the first fight against Trackr(sp?). NB, I never actually died.

It’s tough to die – in fact, I’m not sure it’s possible, but the writer does a terrific job of making the risk feel imminent in a few scenes.

It’s possible, but you really have to try.

Now that I’ve finally found a pad to borrow for a couple of days, I must concur with RDT about the losing for the enitre game except the very first fight it feels like our Hero can only react to and lose to the villains and then mostly because we’re either beig handed the idiot ball or don’t seem to have sufficient knowledge of our powers/abilities at that point of the game.
Also when receiving the offer to join the Millenials at the very end of the game I would have liked to option to reject that offer based on the fact that during the original tryouts they’d rather have the major’s Brat even after I pulled their bacon out of the fire they made it abundantly clear where their priorities lie so being offered a consolation price after saving the entire friggin city doesn’t fly with my Hero. So I guess I would have liked to have been able to tell them something along the lines if “I wasn’t good enough for them then it’s their loss now”.

Hi guys, i’m not sure if anyone has called this to attention or not, but the full version isn’t available on the app store. My friend was able to buy the full version on his Kindle, and as how i love choice of games, i only want to benefit the users and creators. So i’m not sure if it hasn’t been uploaded to the app store intentionally or if it slipped through the cracks somehow.

Sorry about the post above, just read the post about apple not approving it yet!

Sometimes I felt a bit like my choices didn’t matter much. There was only really one set path through the game, and the decisions (e.g., how to break into the thief’s house) only seemed to split off for a page or two before forcing me back on the right track. Aside from that, everything was great. I absolutely loved the setting and the explanation of how superpowers came about. Loved the cute little references in the part where you picked your chip’s personality, I’ve always wanted my own Jeeves!

A quick question to anyone who’s bought the game-- how much content is added?

Alright this is gona be good.
