Hero or Villain: Genesis (feedback thread)

Hey, and do you think that the damage to the body from these OP powers can be dealt with with the already added immunity to certain damage powers?

For example, in the case of fire power, there is already an immunity power to it, do you think this ability would help to deal with the berserker effect of fire? Would it also be feasible to add skills that allow the MC to better deal with the berserker effect of his power?

Do you also think that a way to deal with the adverse effects of these powers is also to have health regeneration abilities?

It could be and it could encourage to invest into these overall abilities. I just spitballed ideas that could fit with what was being looked for. It would thematically make sense that if you invest points into fire resistance the endurance debuff would be reduced somewhat. However I would say that you shouldnā€™t make an immunity to the effects of the berserking as it removes the negatives of the effect and thus lessens the essence of what the ability is, if you can negate the effects of the ability why wouldnā€™t you keep the ability always active? At that point it becomes more of a passive buff and less of a gamble ability that itā€™s meant to be.

I had some time to think and i have a couple for elemental powers.

  1. A suggestion i made earlier in this thread is having ability to coat melee weapons in elements like fire and if your a person like me whoā€™s character doesnā€™t use weapons then it can be used on there hands and feet.

  2. Air and water forcefield abilities, air users could create strong gusts of wind to shield them from projectiles, while water users can create a water bubble around themeselves.

For the hacking part, not just an engineering buff, but an upgrade to Intelligence/Inventor Powers, the MC can implement/invent the hacking computer so that new options can appear like easier stat checks, and further attacks and the hacking computer is like an Inventor variant to mind powers, telepathy, emotional manipulation, and mind control except it works on gadgets and robots, I can imaging the MC using the hacking computer on a mechanical computer or a robot

Today I decided to (finally!) address another of the main criticisms that readers have made of this story. Basically, that your mother only appears in the story to ask for money for the cancer treatment, and that you cannot meet her in person . This also ties with the criticism by some that they donā€™t like ā€œbeing tied to the jobā€.

So, between the museum scene and the masquerade now it is possible to ā€œtake offā€ one of the days of the week, and do something else (i.e. not be in the office). This of course lowers your relationship with the boss and your progress at work, but you are now offered the possibility to go and see your mother, study, do some exercises to improve your stamina, or just stay home and relax.

Are there any obvious other choices that should be given at this point? i.e. what would you like to do in one of the days off? (normally the game gives you options of things to do at night -side missions-, but any ideas for daytime things you would like to do?)

As villain, maybe walk the streets and mug random people? Maybe we could even return to the EHGI to check on further progress, or if we conducted sabotage there, see how they are fairing and coping with the sabotage. Sorry, donā€™t have too many ideas, but thatā€™s at least two thing I can think of.

I feel like with going to see our mother, we should be given the option to reveal our secret identity to her.

Also, the EHGI mission in the game basically goes nowhere fast. Your given the option in game to go investigate the building and the supposed rumors of kidnapping and after your done with the mission there are no follow ups.

  • No talks about someone breaking in the building.

  • No talks about the supposed kidnapping rumors being true, by the police maybe finding the body of the superhero when they came because of the alarm.

  • Not even any talk about how an intruder even got in the building and if the intruder could be a superhuman themselves, by the door being in several pieces or slammed in by the MC.

No follow up at all.

Wait, how can we turn into a vampire? Any instructions please.

Yes, this is indeed possible. You need to try to go after the Steel Aeronaut, and at some point you will find an advert for a job that will offer to pay you a plane ticket if you go first to the Philippines. Go to the Philippines, and then after there will be a sequence of eventsā€¦ Enjoy!

Iā€™m with @Cooldude89979 here, itā€™d be nice to revisit some old spots out of costume and get some follow-up from past events.

Some flavour text would do but if you want to do a bit more maybe we can get some kind of memorabilia- if it was a successful event then itā€™s a trophy, if you failed or caused collateral, then itā€™s a reminder to do better.

If players want to be sneakier let them google it instead or visit the library and read the archived newspapers.

I get the feeling both @Cooldude89979 and you could be onto something interesting.

I will try to add more about the EHGI missionā€¦ but, any idea about what else you would like to do/visit? Basically you have one entire day, which is after the events at the museumā€¦ would you like to go back to the museum in daylight? (for example?)

What could be something interesting to do at the museum in daylight, in civilian clothes?

Maybe join a citywide cleanup effort? Steel Aeronaut did trash the place. For more villainous sorts, maybe looking for something valuable in the mess?

That would be a nice idea to go back to the museum and see some of the exhibits they have.

You could go back to the museum and have some choices of exhibits to visit. Like, the stone exhibit that gave people powers, only if nothing happened to the stone. Or you could go see a exhibit that features well-known superhero/supervillain displays (Moon Crusader, MC, Shiroi-Yuki, Steel Aeronaut, Bulldozer, Karasu-Tengu), you could even make up some new well-known heroes/villains from around the world, to further expand the universe, and put them on display in the museum.

You could even secretly meet another superhero or villain in the museum (depending on what the MC is) looking at their display.

Hold on, is this game gonna get some update in the future? Maybe even some possible changes to the story or options in scenes? Or is it just some bugfixing stuffs? Edit: Have there been any changes to the game that Iā€™m not aware of as compared to some of the older review to both games on Steam?

Wow. Didnā€™t know that so many stuff has changed and I like that there are options now to actually kill some enemies. I didnā€™t buy the game at first cause I saw a review mentioning how even though he had plasma powers and used it on a regular thug and not only did he not die but he even manages to run away, I was like wtf? That makes no sense. I do want to ask. Who are the RO, how many are there and do they carry over to Battle Royale?

Much has changed, as I have taken onboard many of the criticisms voiced on steam and elsewhere (on this forum, through direct messages, etc). The game is already much changed from that initial version that was criticised on steam, and continues to evolve with the feedback I get  It isnā€™t perfect by any meansā€¦ I donā€™t think any of my games ever will be. More like an eternal work in progress, and maybe years later itā€™ll be half a million words, or who knows, even one million.

I think there are currently 14 ROs (well, 13 in the present version, and one more is being added in the DLC). Note that they are not all the same in terms of development. In the present version some are decently done, others are mediocrely done, and some are little more than placeholders (some people ask me to allow a certain character to be ROs and I added the option, even though there isnā€™t much depth to the character). Basically, almost anybody that appears can be a RO.

They sort of exist in the background in Battle Royale, but donā€™t really ā€œcarry overā€ (well, one of the ROs does continue into Battle Royale, most donā€™t). The ROs from Battle Royale carry onto Armageddonā€¦ and at some point you will be able to return to Earth and continue with the ROs left on Earth.

However, in all this please note that if you are going by the criticisms on Steam, and while many have been addressed already, it is the DLC that will be solving many of the others.

What is this DLC? Is it something already in-game or some kind of update? And also, is the demo version on the CoG/Hosted Games site not the current version?

This is the game that introduced me to the forum games so I would like it if they make an update for it.
Iā€™m wondering the same thing too @Zarkrai
