No problem it was just a suggestion maybe it’s something that can be implemented in the future if you ever decide to do more updates after your other projects are finished, as for the charlotte RO finishing the walk through the park seems like a good idea.
I think Arthur and Charlotte are totally uninteresting as ROs, and that’s why they should be romanceable. They’d be perfect for someone who kind of wants to take someone out on a date and check the box on having a romantic partner, but doesn’t want to go to the effort of romancing Aggy or Villardi. Thus, they could probably be stuck in the same box as the office romances.
Of course, I got this idea while thinking in the shower, so take it as you will
Thinking about it, the Earthling I’d like to romance is Analyn, but there’s definitely not enough time to romance her in Book 1. Maybe Book 3 could have an Ana romance?
On another topic: Individual lessons with Bertrand give less Fighting skill than group lessons. Is this intentional?
When fighting the vampire minion, I tried to telepathically overload his brain, and the game threw up an error about conflicting with another line about telekinesis. Sounds like a bug with the new powers…
@adrao As you know, the variable for hats is “have_hat_normal 0” when starting a new game, however the code says for hats to be selectable the varable needs to be “have_hat_normal 1” and when I spoke of facial hair the gender variable needs to be “Male” which cannot be set until after “A_choose_powers” scene.
Can you look at my suggestions?
- Meteor Strike
- Energy Absorber
- Berserker Rage
- Future Oversight
- Hacking Computer
I’ll be brief
Meteor Strike deals a lot of damage but has a slow attack rate. Takes two turns to charge it up, and the enemy dodges it and/or you are open to getting hit and dealing self damage
Energy Absorber temporarily increases your stats, in battle or not depending on the quality. MK1, MK2, and/or MK3
Berserker Rage forces your character to go into primal instinct, Increasing Strength, Agility, and Endurance at a cost of controlling your character.
Future Oversight allows your character to see into the future before combat and/or after combat. It takes a lot of willpower to harness such power
Hacking Computer can hack into any electronics, even at a advanced level. Useful in combat in non combat.
At post #1516
I like those suggestions the future oversight could be put into the time powers or the psychic categories, the berserker rage into the animal powers category, and the energy absorber put with the psychic or invention powers.
not to sure about the hacking seeing as there’s not many scenes involving a computer if any,
and the meteor strike sounds cool but seems a little to much like something out of final fantasy to me.
still it would be awesome to see some of these put into the game
It seems I still haven’t managed to rectify the bug about being able to use multiple cheats (it is unfortunate, though anyway I am hoping to release a new update to the game in the coming weeks, so hopefully I will get it then). Thanks also to everybody for the feedback (I will slowly reply to everybody in the coming days).
Below is a short video with all the changes in v.1.4.2., hope you enjoy them!
Let me be clear. Hacking computer is useful in certain situations like the island full of androids, a Mongolia base, or in the sequel. Many situations. Meteor Strike is a charge based fire or earth attack. Very slow
Yeah that could work, i wasn’t really thinking of the androids when i typed that, but outside of that i really don’t remember that many scenarios where that would come up especially in the sequel, though i’ll admit it has been awhile since i played it.
Can you romance Charlotte in book one?
Not yet, but we are discussing it.
Is telekinesis going to have a new cost? (I ask because I’m probably scaling the 1.4.2 version of Psycho Soldier down to weak telekinesis. The TK Blast is now partially redundant and the slow was never much use.)
Also, bug in the telekinesis throw (according to F1_fighting_extra_powers, which I know I’m totally not supposed to see yet but you probably want to clear this before release):
*if (marksmanship > (enemy_agility *1.5))
*elseif (marksmanship > (enemy_agility *0.75))
That should be telekinesis_throw_ability, not marksmanship.
Another bug. I’ve discovered that there’s an issue with tackles. tried_tackle doesn’t reset at the beginning of every fight like it’s supposed to. EDIT: Appears to be just Flying Death, in game 2. Which is inconvenient for someone with Psycho Soldier’s or Darksaber’s (my alt) Fighting ability!
I just came up with a request as well (for whenever you have the free time to knock out some writing). Could we have a page on what skill percentages mean, like we do for attributes? They seem to run on a much different scale, obviously (70+ seems to be brilliant for job performance - this may be because you’re doing a high-pressure job while out of the office half the time - while 20 Fighting and Marksmanship makes you the equivalent of an average soldier in an elite unit).
The power to discover an enemy’s weak points isn’t showing up on the power list.
Stun grenades just say “Stun” on the power list.
Learning martial arts from Bertrand, I have just discovered, doesn’t take enhanced learning speed into account. (Shoulda noticed this one earlier!) Same with the darts bar and pool games in the airport.
Being an inventor with an armored costume or armor does not set armour_costume, just power_armour. That leads to a bug later because you have to build new armor rather than customize your existing suit.
Fatally painful bug on the Aeronaut: In both the Museum and Mongolia fights, when the Aeronaut attacks, it doesn’t properly call enemy_damage even if my agility is higher than her Fighting or Marksmanship. In other words, Aeronaut is ignoring my dodging! Hax!
*set hp - (enemy_strength - armour_strength)
*set hp - (enemy_damage_ranged - armour_strength)
Ruby Psyche in the second game also has this bug.
More Aeronautics:
*if ((power_ray = 1) and (gun_destroyed =0)) #Try to disable the laser gun with my ${ray_description}.
This is supposed to take out Aeronaut’s gun, but it doesn’t set gun_destroyed correctly.
I got this when fighting Rambahadur:
I lift him in the air and slam him repeatedly against the floor using my telekinesis powers.
This is on my inventor alt, who doesn’t have telekinesis at all.
If you buy a helmet, it goes in your second normal outfit slot, instead of on your costume.
Could there be an option to prioritize your mother over your rent and go into arrears?
Also, could there be an option after returning from Mongolia to pay any of Mom’s balance - say, if I acquired some funds in the Philippines?
Fighting the robot in the Aeronaut’s base,
I use my superspeed to simultaneously shoot many bullets at it from my Kalashnikov rifle.
Again, no superspeed.
Aeronaut battle in Chapter 2. If I defeat Aeronaut by busting her gun, mind control or any other means than zeroing her HP, I get no fame and the news article doesn’t change.
At the side job selector, second visit (for the record, I got the free side job for END20 on this run), I get this:
Alternatively, if you have enough money you could go back to Beltrand’s gym, and continue trying to improve your fighting skills.
It has no option to hit the gym, and I have plenty of money.
Telekinetic throws aren’t implemented in the normal human fights or the Aeronaut fight at the bank.
Well if you want to beat anyone and anything the way to go is superspeed x8, once you get that you don’t need anything really, couple that with super jump(agi+60) and your character will become untouchable, you can just spam super speed in fights and opponents will get knocked out if not at once, then just at the second time
Can you use more than one cheat code?
If you’re using a power combo that’s only available on Very Easy or using a cheat code, then of course you don’t need anything else.
Actually, Superspeed x2 is more broken, just because it costs fewer points but still allows you a full dodge if your agility is greater than your enemy’s Fighting or Marksmanship. Save some points or stones for Psyche and you’re right, you’re untouchable.
Superspeed 2 is also available to animals, who are already one of the strongest powersets.
We’re supposed to, but the bug needs to be fixed first.
Thank you very much! I really, truly, appreciate your help! I’ll try it.
Awww! That’s wonderful!
@0roxson0 the logic of the small improvements only bringing it to 30 is that “tweaking” things only takes you so far, and at one point you have to go for a bigger change. So, you have to risk a different model if you want to get higher? Does the logic make sense?
@Denzil_Melgior_Nagel great suggestion, thanks! (implemented it in the latest patch, which I will be sending to CoG later today)
@tbs9090 implemented also for the stone in the museum, though you will still get a minor drop (the stone did go somewhere, so suspition will be there… but, -10% compared to -30%).
@Denzil_Melgior_Nagel ok, let me turn Charlotte in my head a bit more… it requires more changes to the game, and I might not get them done today (there is a “game-breaking” bug that requires a fix today, and I might not get enough time for this one…). Also, hopefully I will have now fixed (finally!) the one cheat only bug!
@Ramidel yes, Analyn is obviously complicated from story-telling perspective, would require more time to be spent in philippines… though not sure how many readers go down this route? Corrected the bugs in post #1682 thanks!
@Andy_Apple corrected the hat and facial hair bugs, thanks!
@Patrick_Cody02 thanks for the suggestions… I’m trying to think about how these could work, but no new powers in today’s update (that will have to wait until a later date, hopefully next week I will get back to work on them!) But, @tbs9090 does make a point, hacking computer doesn’t bring so much into the game, and isn’t this already covered by existing abilities? (or, you are saying the power just basically allows you to pass any such ability checks?)
@Ramidel, currently going through your bug reports in post #1690, all will be implemented in next update (thanks! ) unless I mention it in my next post
You mean there’s people who don’t go to the Philippines? I assume most people want to pursue the Aeronaut, and the Philippines are the easiest way to pay for your plane ticket. Also, a lot of people probably vant to be a vampire.
@Ramidel thanks so much for all the bug reports in post #1691, all corrected (unless otherwise noted below), with additional comments below:
-Good point, I now increase the cost of telekinesis a bit. Any other thoughts about how to address the rebalancing?
-I didn’t allow readers to tackle Flying Death given that it is a “bulky” opponent… plus the ability to fly, etc. Does this make sense? (should somebody be allowed to “tackled” somebody bigger than a horse?)
-About the fighting abilities and attributes… yes, they do seem to run on different scales. But, is it really something that is needed?
-Yes, helmets always go into your second normal outfit slot… not ideal, but currently I coded it like this. Can it be left?
-Going into arrears should mean there is a consequence… what could be the consequence to that?
-I didn’t implement telekinetic throws for normal human fights as most of them should be a “walkover”? (or, do you feel this is really necessary? Do you miss not having this option there?)
@Ramidel also increased slightly the cost of lower end superspeed… does this improve things? (any other balancing ideas?)
It would be interesting to know how many people choose not to go to the Philippines and stay in NY, or join the supergroup?
v1.4.3. Changes (357,000 words)
-Fixed bug with fight with vampires in the Philippines.
-Fixed bug that prevented multiple cheat codes from being entered.
-When looting shops as a villain the game will recognise if you are a high-level speedster an no longer reduce your relationship with the police captain.
-When taking the stone at the museum the game will recognise if you are a speedster, and if you are very fast your relationship with the police captain will take a lower hit.
-Individual fighting lessons now provide you a bigger boost to your fighting skill than group lessons.
-Fixed bug preventing wearing of hats. You should also now be able to choose various types of facial hair.
-Fixed bug in telekinetic new abilities during fights.
-Given new telekinetic powers, increased their cost slightly.
-Stun grenades (and other stun powers) should now be listed correctly.
-When defeating Steel Aeronaut using mental powers the newspaper will recognise this.
-Increased slightly the cost of superspeed powers.
-Numerous other bugfixes.
Things to do:
-Add Charlotte and Arthur as RO?
-Add more powers (will look at posts from #1514 for inspiration, some have been implemented already but currently only playtesters will be able to use), also posts #1684 to 1687.
-Write second EGHI story
-Finish writing new side mission for DLC
