Yeah it happens to me a lot being scared to write and organize my own jam. It id ironic
I’m in! It’ll be good to have something to tinker with for fun when I want a break from my usual shit. Looking forward to writing with you all.
Mara, what counts as an important murder?
One that have a important development in the plot. And it is a device to move the story forward
Example Your significant other died and that made you decide to turn a vengeance rampage and kill everyone in the Disco where they died. that is a significant murder
What is not a significant murder is "Oh, I saw a random dude die in the road. I will keep my business like nothing has happened
This looks like an awesome way to start learning ChoiceScript. I’m new to these forums, how do I submit my entry once I’m done with it?
Welcome aboard and to the forum! In this you send me a private message when you are done or you want to start a private beta of your game. However, this is a forum jam not affiliated with Cog.
For publishing a game Their have another set of rules I recommend you read the FAQ and forum rules
Great music, great era but more groupie , rock’n roll and weed era ^^
This music can’t let one write a dark hallooween theme or draw
I will share with you all the special lore story behind the posters.
The 70’s vibes globe is the logo of the vampire disco business
This one is the Poster of the party Humans can see. But if you have vampire vision you see tue cursed poster for the blood party hidden in the other.
I based the whole thing in Blade the first movie and his blood party.
There are minor details like the simple siluettes of two humans like sleeping it is a symbol of human blood dolls inside. Yeah, I know it is little stupid as nobody will notice or know the whole lore. But for me is important that there is one. Even if only I know it.
A draft for the theme.
- moon cycle
- red is the flow of blood, bottled at the bottom of the column.
- a sheriff trying to gather his thoughts occupy the lonely stool
PS: Need to buy a drawing tablet for HD stuff, whatever on tablet is easy to fix and layers are great for any artwork ^^
It reminds me Cheers the tv show. Your sketch has that vibes
All vampire movies have great vibes until the dinner
Cheers was set in 1970s 80s bar if I recall correct. Never watched it decently, besides some parts on youtube and the intro.
Cheers aired from September 30, 1982, to May 20, 1993, so I would be careful using it as a setting for this year’s jam.
YMMV.
Yes, but the bar itself has a 70’s vibe that can be use as inspiration.
But yes, You have given up a key element of Historical writing: check check and check the facts.
Like if your game is placed historically in 70s you have to check if the technology you will use is even invented in the time period. It sounds lot of work but checking is fun, and you will learn a lot of funny facts doing it!
Cheers was in 80s yes but the bar decoration and set up was not really different than 70s. Besides I know it was 80s-90s show ^^
To get a feel for the American 70s, I’ve been checking out a few articles. Maybe someone will find these helpful? What a fascinating time in history.
Love Saves the Day by Tim Lawrence - a book that details American dance music culture, with plenty of interviews. I might read this cover to cover!
The Seventies: The Great Shift in American Culture, Society, and Politics by Bruce J Schulman - historical context leading up to the 70s, sans vampires
The Disco Lifestyle by Richard Powers - a quick history lesson in the demographics of who did disco in the US, and on the next page, a rundown of what moves people had!
So I was right! It did give me creepy vibes from the get-go!
Yeah, you sense it right
You would all be appalled by the Australian advertisements from the seventies I spent all morning watching after my shift last night. The horror practically writes itself half of the time.
That being said, I’m already having a great time! Taking said time where I can over the next few days to assemble my scrawlings into something resembling notes, settling on a rough soundtrack, and then we start.
