No, I mean playing like Mara. …As in your love of poison in the forum.
He’s playing his thingy more than you do yours. I’m simply impressed.

Well, I was attacked by an horde of trolls about me being Mara and accused of being a psycho for use her… So I am not sure of doing it right now.
First off: The pain of slogging through multiple classes for different sides and factions and servers is…real to say the least second.
Second: whatever LL Cool J. No one told you to bring your soon to be roast birds before my anvil of depravity. I think you kinda missed the whole immortal/god/king/super being thing. “THE HEAD BULLETS THEY DO NOTHING!”
@Poison_mara, I started playing Fallout 4 not too long ago, it consumed my life and essence, therefore I have taken a break. I mean to get back to it.
Elsewhere, I’m gonna have to agree with Fallaner here. Those people who muster against you are tools, while I have yet to be chewed out by a mod and necessarily want to to be, I can think of no better reason for it happening then coming to your aid. Let me know the time and place and I will gladly defend your honor.#Chivalryain’tdead
Pm and we could talk about rp and fallout and the comming dlc
@Lazarus Glad you liked it!
I almost want to apologize to poor @jeantown. She provides an incredibly broad and detailed curriculum that Guen could have studied…and I start with describing a Guen who’s barely literate. ![]()
Well, I thought Stupid Guen would just be rude. ![]()
Definitely! ![]()
Oh, and happy birthday!! ![]()
What kind of imagination-less morons attack someone for ROLE-PLAYING?! Certainly not anyone from the Guenevere forums (right?)!
There’s only one thing to do with people that narrow-minded and idiotic…let Mara do what she does best!
![]()
Seriously though, don’t change yourself or stop doing what you enjoy for people like that. After spending way too many days of middle school crying because a bunch of bratty girls hated my clothes, my hobbies, my Halloween costumes, and my introverted ways (and made a point of telling me so…every. SINGLE. DAY.), and finally trying to change to make them stop (leading to one very unhappy year), I realized that they weren’t worth it and I didn’t need their approval.
And at the risk of sounding like a cliche after-school special…the best revenge is being happy…and maybe rubbing some of that happiness in their faces. ![]()
Thanks, I just don’t know… I don’t want upset people. Changing of topic, My Guen main is leadership, strategies . She probably write and speaks Latin, and have received a classic education with retoric, grammar, poetry, music, historic and mathematics. Including of course military strategy and geography. She was terrible at music but a great dancer.
I honestly thought I clicked on the wrong thread when I saw tons of stuff on Fallout 4! I love that game, and to merge it a bit more to the topic, I like these games more because I can play them at my own place, since I’ll play for hours on end. Urghh…
Hi @jeantown, some more annoying questions for you! ^^
Something that has been confusing for a while now: When you input data to head to chapter 2, a number of questions are asked, about what Guen has told people, what Guen wants to be seen as, etc.
Are these questions what Guen actually feels, or what Guen is showing? IE: Could she be showing one thing, but feeling another, in the context of these questions?
eg: Guen is manipulative, and says she does want Arthurs children, and said she’d be faithful to Arthur, though she is really in love with Lancelot, and would rather have his children.
Would this question about Arthur’s kids ‘force’ her to have Arthur’s children down the line?
And so on, and so forth.
No, there is a hidden stat about lies and manipulation. Game tracks not only what you say, tracks too if you lie or not.
All right, let me try to sort through all of this stuff and figure out what’s directed toward me… if I miss anything, please let me know.
I hope everything is going okay, well better then me lol.
Sorry to hear that things are not so okay with you – hope they get better.
Heath-wise I am doing all right, not great; work-wise I am totally snowed under and have gotten almost no writing done this month… but that too shall pass. Looking forward to July, when my work responsibilities are super-light, and I should be able to write a ton if I can just avoid getting sick for the third July in a row.
Depends on their occupation. Farmers, not much except for maybe the most basic writing and numbers they’d need to understand an inventory list or a bill of sale. Artisans/craftspeople a little more so, but in most cases probably not enough to write a letter to someone, for which they’d need to hire a professional scribe.
@buggygirl11 You manage to find such huge potential for variety in even the most seemingly small details.
I loved reading Ditzy Guen’s backstory and would enjoy hearing about some of your other Guens.
@fairlyfairfighter My goodness, you really should be channeling all of these ideas into a game of your own! To be completely honest, I’m not a big fan of IAPs, so I’ll probably go for a more straightforward pricing model if/when the time comes and the CoG powers-that-be allow. Anyway, if I find myself in need of help, I will certainly let you know. ![]()
Yeah, you guys should definitely talk. ![]()
Hm, hasn’t happened yet… ![]()
Mara is always welcome in the Guen thread. ![]()
Agreed – I very much prefer single-player games to online/multi, whether it’s text-based CoGs or video games. Probably because of my mild autism, I have a hard time responding to things quickly, which usually makes me the weakest link in co-op no matter how hard I try. With single-player games, I can always hit pause and think about what to do next. Turn-based games are even better. (Divinity: Original Sin is my favorite game to come out in the past few years, in spite of its lack of compelling story/characters; the gameplay is truly fun for me, and I can crank the difficulty way up and enjoy it.)
You should answer the questions at the end as honestly as possible for the Guen you’re playing. They set the hidden personality stats, which are different from external reputation (which you get to define a little earlier)
No matter what Guen says or thinks about having children, she’ll have to take a definite and obvious step in part 3 to make it happen, so you’ll have total control over that when the time comes. ![]()
Action Guen:
Pre-Book I Personality: Action Guen was the ultimate tomboy. She was happiest when swinging a sword; and considered her father’s knights her closest friends. Action Guen looked down upon the girly-girls that waited upon her, regularly calling them “stupid fluffheads.” (Though this attitude is starting to change after meeting Tilda.) Her favorite hobby, aside from fighting that is, was playing pranks on her ladies in waiting…much to their extreme annoyance.
Parental Relationships: Leodegrance always wanted a son, but fate deemed that not to be. Though he was initially disappointed at having a daughter, Leodegrance decided to quell his disappointment by raising and treating her like the son he always wanted. He spent hours teaching Action Guen how to swing a sword, and as she got older, he began to teach her battle strategy as well. Action Guen was extremely close to her father, who she loved more than anyone in the world. She would never have agreed to marry Arthur for the sake of anyone else.
Action Guen had a much more distant relationship with her mother, though she loved her out of familial duty. They simply had nothing in common and nothing to talk about. Action Guen was saddened when she fell from her horse and died, but she moved on fairly quickly.
Education: Though academic subjects weren’t her favorite, her tutors managed to motivate and teach her through their connection to the military. Action Guen learned basic Mathematics through problems involving the number and placement of soldiers in battle, Basic Science by discussing the latest battle innovations, and Geography by how the terrain would effect a battle. But though she’s an expert in Military History, Action Guen’s knowledge of history outside that arena is somewhat…vague. She can read and write reasonably well…as long as you ignore her atrocious penmanship. The so-called feminine arts of Music and Embroidery were predictably her worst subjects. Action Guen can hardly do a single dance step without stepping on someone’s toes, though this is mostly out of a lack of effort. And no tutor on earth could make her sit inside and practice an instrument when there was fun to be had outdoors! And Embroidery…Leodegrance was forced to discontinue those lessons after Action Guen tried to use her sewing needle to stab a lady in waiting in the eye.
Action Guen was obviously great at Sword-Fighting, and regularly sparred with her father’s knights. However, to her eternal disappointment, her father never allowed her near an actual battle. Instead, Action Guen honed her skills sparring and humiliating every pigheaded knight who dared to challenge her ability and right to kick their sissy butts.
She also learned all the basics of Battle Strategy from her father during her teenage years. Action Guen was always fascinated with winning battles, whether on the strategy table or on the field. However, her father said she was “a bit too rash” in her strategic approach, and often risked more than was wise.
Significant Events:
(1) Though Action Guen found herself bearing all of the blame for trying to stab that girl with a needle when she was seven, there was really more to it than most people knew. The girl’s name was Beatrix, and for the past several weeks she had been referring to Action Guen as a man. Action Guen had (commendably and with considerable difficulty) refrained from punching her in the face. Her father had always told her never to hit anyone who doesn’t know how to hit back, and this girl had never fought a day in her life…she wouldn’t dare ruin her NAILS. But when she made that whispered comment about her future husband getting “a big surprise on your wedding night”…it just was too much.
Action Guen never told anyone what really happened, not even her father. For though she hated to admit it…what Beatrix said got to her, and slowly chipped away at her self-esteem every day since. And she would rather her father look at her like a hot-headed brat who attacked someone for no reason…she would rather him look at her like THAT, than look at her like a man.
(2) During her teenage years, Action Guen developed several crushes on some of her father’s knights. But thanks to Beatrix’s comments, and snickering gossip that she knew the ladies in waiting did behind her back…comments that every day chipped away at her sense of self worth, though she’d rather die than show it…Action Guen could never tell any of them how she felt or show them. (Her first real romance was with Lancelot…who made it so obvious that he WAS interested, and that when he looked at her, he thought she was the most beautiful woman on earth, that all her insecurity just melted away.)
Social Life at Camelot: Action Guen is good friends with most of the knights she trains with. She would probably never be BFFs with her attendants (just nothing in common, plain and simple), but thanks to her childhood, Action Guen has a habit of being purposefully nasty to them, seeing every one as the little girls who laughed at her all those years ago.
On a side note, I just played The Seven Heirs of Ophaesia, and it was fantastic, even though it’s only one chapter so far. It’s kind of like Guenevere in the sense that we’re following a royal throughout their lives, and their choices can eventually change the kingdom. The world is slightly darker than Guenevere’s though. Not Game of Thrones dark, but you can definitely see that the tone is different.
Could Guen tell anybody about the Mordred dreams? In the case of the Ruthless Ambitious Guen, I’ll tell Morgana and Lance, but NOT Arthur.
Secondly, out of sheer curiosity, are there variables which define if Guen’s an introvert or extrovert? I’m planning on making the Ruthless Ambitious Guen an introvert… so… no parties, no social events, and subtle stuff.
Thirdly, in the Guenverse, are the people here generally introverts, extroverts or ambiverts?
And lastly, how do people in the Guenverse see introverts? See, IRL, I’m an introvert (although I like socializing, I generally prefer to just stay at my house. And I’m ain’t much for social events.), and people around me find it weird that I’m just staying in my house and not socializing. And I hate parties.
@buggygirl11, thank you for posting the Guen backstories. They’re fun to imagine and read about.
I like the ‘stab the lady in waiting in the eye with a needle’ part.
@jeantown do the characters inherently less trustworthy of certain personalities. For example an ambitious Guen or bisexual Guen (Morgana and cheating with Lance) Or with a Guen who’s ruthless being less trusted by Arthur.
@buggygirl11 Thank you for another beautifully thorough backstory!
Action Guen’s psychology seems consistent and well-thought-out. I definitely need to pay Ophaesia as soon as I get a chance; work is killing me right now. ![]()
Theoretically, yes; the only reason why not is that it’s yet another conversation for me to code and yet another set of variables to juggle… since it doesn’t really advance the plot or give massive insight on the characters, I probably won’t add that at the moment, though I guess I could see it coming up in a certain conversation at the end of part 2…
There are no specific introvert/extrovert variables, but I think (hope?) the game gives some decent opportunities to roleplay different amounts of social engagement. So you can certainly think of your Guen as introverted or extroverted and play accordingly; I just haven’t had a reason to track that yet.
About the same mix as you’d find among any group of humans… some of everything, and lots of variations.
With the same variety of reactions you’d get from any group of humans. Some people understand and some don’t, with, again, lots of variations.
Not as yet, though their trust stat can change based on Guen’s decisions, so the same choice that got Guen a +2 to ruthlessness could also in the same moment give a -1 to Arthur’s trust.
Just gonna jump in and ask if you’ve played any of the dragon age games? They have an auto pause feature where you can set strategies, select skills and swap between characters. Plus the first 2 don’t have too big of an “open” world and I enjoyed the characters. (My favorite games of all times.)
Jean is a fan of the Dragon Age series. She’s mentioned it a few times.
Oh I didn’t know >. < I’ve been too busy to keep up with most threads. But jean gets brownie points for being a fellow fan

I really enjoyed the story right up until my game crashed (might have been my internet connection and nothing to do with the programming). All three characters were unique and likeable in their own ways. I like how difficult it was to forge a close relationship with Morgana, compared to Lancelot and Arthur, due to her skeptical nature and unpleasant marriage.
The characters seemed to react realistically, until I played through again, this time treating everybody with complete disdain and indifference. I think my actions increased points in Stubbornness. I’d like to see the main NPC’s grow colder - or at least more detached - towards the PC as opposed to giving her endless chances to become a better person. The NPC’s frequently showered my stubborn character with as much praise, flattery, and friendship that they offered to my kind character who was actually trying. This made me feel like my personality choices didn’t actually have any impact on the story or NPC’s.
Forced into a marriage my Guen didn’t desire, I had initially planned on having her manipulate Art and Lance to get her way, but she found them to be such eager to please puppy dogs that manipulation wasn’t really necessary. As a result she’s grown fond of them both even though it’s Morgie who’s won her heart.
Now if only Arthur would recognize how much better Guen is at running things and step aside for her, everything would be perfect.
lol!
Poor Arthur. Being played by the women he at least seems to love.
That kind of thing sucks. …Being played by someone you love, that is (possibly speaking from personal experience. Not saying)! I could never bring myself to do that to Arthur, which is why ThaliaGuen (What I dub my Guen) will always love him (and kill Mordred for him. That is my primary goal for later in the series. The ability to kill Mordred yourself ).
…Granted, I also still feel my ThaliaGuen is better than Arthur at ruling. Not that he’s BAD, but that ThaliaGuen can SOMETIMES do better. Ideally though, they should both work together a lot. Opposing viewpoints can in fact, be quite important.
