@Shintaro The line 307 bug is fixed. Thank you for finding that.
The reverend is supposed to be read as your replacement, hence why he is described as ‘new’. I think I’ll add a line or two to the reverend background to make this more clear.
Could you repost a link? I can’t seem to play anything other than the demo
What stuff in the fleshed out scenes varies based on stats?

What’s available is still the ‘demo’ as it is far from complete. It’s just less far from complete than the old demo was.
@Shoelip Spoilers ahead!
Attempts to live off the land are dependent upon your riding, survival, and firearms skills, depending on the exact approach taken. If your survival skill is no good, you can still avoid eating poisonous berries if your academics skill is high enough.
Fixing up the church is, as one might imagine, dependent entirely upon your crafts skill. You also need to have materials to attempt it.
At the eating house, your ability to relate to and make friends with Lura depends on your reputation, negotiation, and academics skills. To deal with the bandit, you’ll need firearms or negotiation skills depending on your approach.
At the saloon, you’ll need high intuition and perception to succeed at poker. When you find the cheater, you’ll need good stamina and firearms to subdue him.
Soooooooo…any pie you can give to us?

@Luxtizer hey man. i’m not sure if you are still developing this but what i have played so far has been great. i just really hope you get to finish the game because it seems really polished. i like the way you’ve integrated skill upgrades and things like that into the narrative rather than explicitly stating it so much (such as buying the survival guides etc). i don’t know if it would be feasible (or too confusing) to apply this same degree of subtlety to the choice of previous career - perhaps through what you go into town to buy or the land you own - but it would be a nice touch.
I’m trying to get the entire Indiana and Missouri chapters of the game ready for the next update. I’m optimistic about getting this done in the next two weeks or so, but it may be more towards the end of June if other distractions take up too much of my time.
@_jl Glad you’re enjoying what’s up so far, but I’m not entirely sure what you mean. Would you rather see something less obvious than ‘what did you do before?’ Something like ‘You go leave work at the…’ ‘church’ ‘general store’ etc. in the opening narrative? Do people generally prefer that sort of less blatant selection in the choices?

@Luxtizer hey man. sorry for not clarifying that. saying like something like ‘you leave work at the…’ is exactly what i mean. i don’t mind being asked directly ‘what did you do before this?’ but i think it adds a nice touch to have it rather more integrated into the narrative than a list per se. that’s just my opinion though. i know there are people who would prefer it more explicit and i don’t think it’s a bad thing with what you’ve got now.
I dunno. That makes it kind of awkward. Like what if you’re a bandit?

@Shoelip sorry, i don’t know what you mean. :S
Well, if you’re a bandit, where do you leave work from? “The Bandit Hideout”?

@Shoelip it doesn’t have to be that per se but words to that effect. something vague like the place you frequent or work at would suffice. so a ranch for a farmhand or a rogue’s inn for a bandit. all i mean to say is that instead directly asking who you are, perhaps where you come from would be cooler.
@_jl I’ll give it some thought once I’ve finished my current work on the next few scenes. I’d be curious to hear what other people think about this suggestion. In general to people prefer a more subtle writing style like this?
I enjoy a more subtle style myself.
I appreciate subtlety but don’t see a need for a change here.

When I saw the title my first conclusion was a game based on Journey to the West. I’ve been in a Chinese folk and martial arts mood lately, and have been itching to play something of the sort. (Slightly off-topic, sorry xP)
Oregon Trail, however, isn’t the least bit disappointing! Though I’m a bit younger than the generation that grew up with floppy disk games, I really am quite fond of them and look forward to seeing where you can take this.
When do u think u will finish xxx
Well I liked what was avalible, inda bummed there isnt more but i understand. take your time. it seems good
