There are no romance options for you besides William and Lily.

Why… Why would you even want something like that in a kind of silly ghost game

Woah I thought this game was already done like a year ago or so

Out of curiousity which power do you think is best to play?

the best powers are having more scenes and walkthrough the story:

Dreamwalk, Apparition, Poltergeist But the best combo would probably be Dreamwalk and Whisper

Poltergeist is my favorite one.

My top three powers are Dreamwalk, Whisper and Poltergeist. Those are my go to power combo

Played recently and I have to admit is a good story  (There was sometimes a bug regarding the ghost powers like in one instance be able to use dreamwalking while I didn’t have that power in my list). But is among the hosted games that given me a really good spooky vibe like Scratch or Donor definetly good for the Halloween season.

Tryed different paths and powers but my favorite 3 end up be: Whisper, Apparition and Poltergeist. Is the closest thing to make me feel like Joey Mallone from Blackwell Legacy (a 1993 version of it anyway without the Hat and I Figured a Elegant suit from the 90s would have been double breasted and with wide shoulders and pleated pants. Brad Pitt’s Cool World style)

In any case I like this mechanic where basically is the Terror level on each family member that define their reaction in some scenes even if the story is railroaded and only certain powers can influence the choice of certain Characters, example: Michael 9/10 will always try to patch up his marriage with Samantha you must be a total ghost prick who have dreamwalking to make him pick Nicole) but I can see the resolutions are pretty much in how you want to end up your story (Got 3 results so far: 1) Ended up be bounded to the past love as she traveled to Europe and act as her guardian spirit. 2) [my favorite] The past Love got to take care of the mansion doing the role of a strange but amicable dark dressed lady who live alone in this old mansion, while as a Ghost you play pranks and make it scary for the kids who come to visit at Halloween, 3) Get inadvertently the past lover killed and at the end become a couple of Ghosts living in the abandoned Mansion at the outskirt of town.

Yeah for a time I thinked that too was possible given the fact their marriage was going through a tough time (and the fact you have actually the possibility to say “I like you” to samantha or save her once or twice. Also adding to the grogery list: Pick roses for Samantha choice It kinda was a let down it didn’t have a follow up scene to payback that choice. Even Let’s say when Sam is reading her Book and have Michael come back and start a argument where they embrace each other. That could’ve been another difference scene of him presenting himself with the roses and you could’ve just shut up and let the love bloom or be a prick and try to take credit).

I have the gut feeling like the author planned something like that (Even with Amber and the fact you could ruin her relationship with Laura it felt like you could put yourself in Laura’s place instead. By taking count from all the Family members Amber is the one who is more willing to speak with the Ghost. I dunno the fact you can ask her to dance that felt really like a Casper/Kathleen scene (if you wanna see it as just friends) or Beetlejuice/Lydia (if you don’t) but didn’t have the heart to put it in at the end (maybe didn’t really was on board with the idea).

I think it embraced more the romantic “damned faithfull lover” backstory but I wouldn’t have minded if let’s say for all genders ghosts who picked the “EVIL” path there was the possibility to do something like this (Interject themself in the relationships of: Michael/Samantha, Amber/Laura, Oliver/Becky) or even reveal/show in the past your main character was more attracted by crazy evil Lauren Edgeworth than their own Spouse.

One thing I’d like to ask: how does the family know you’re there if you don’t interact with them? I spent a whole playthrough doing that, but they figured it out anyway. Their belief was extremely low. So how? Is it a bug?

No is not a bug is just because at the end we are still following a railroad story for the events that happen (no matter what you do, the family will always end up knowing there is a ghost in the house). Mostly all fall on Samantha’s who in her research for make the book will kind of go crazy deep on this and after discovering the crypt She pratically assume by default: This House is Haunted.
And will try to back it up in this belief with any time you ever used any of the powers:

Whisper = We heard a voice
Possession = We didn’t act like ourself sometimes
Poltergeist = Things aren’t where they should be and seems to move around also any door close violently and in a strange way
Apparition = We seen a figure moving in the house
Dreamwalk = Our dreams feels like they are crafted by someone

Even if you never used the powers they still go like if you did (“Michael you too heard the voice, right?” answer: yes I did…In a play where I never once used whisper around Michael and I avoided to interact with him.

I think is a cheap method but make it possible for the story to progress.

Hey, thank you all for playing and for the suggestions!

I have to admit: I didn’t plan the scenario in which players don’t interact with the family at all until Chapter 4. It didn’t cross my mind people would play this way, and I don’t remember it coming up during the WIP period. It’s something, though, that a few people have pointed out since the game came out.

I assumed that if players chose, for example, Whisper, they’d use it at least a couple of times during the first three Chapters, so it’d be narratively reasonable to acknowledge this during the family reunion scene.

You see, the feedback we receive when a game gets published is exponentially larger than in a WIP. And this was the case here.

I’m sending a new patch to Hosted Games with more minor fixes and new content this week; I’m working on an alternative “Chapter 4 family reunion” scene that acknowledges players who haven’t interacted with the family (or interacted very little) so far.

As someone who was pretty active during the WIP, I feel somewhat responsible for not mentioning this earlier. To be honest, I just thought the little railroading was necessary to ultimately Bring the story to where it need to be. I thought that an extra branch for the silent stalking ghost would be somewhat difficult. Anyway, I’m glad to see that we may get an extra branch for that type of character. My first thought was, why the hell would they call an exorcist on a ghost that’s supposed to be unknown to them?

I don’t think the options actually make any difference.
The people get scared, but 1 second later act like nothing happened or act surprised again.

nice
