@tmmanques As of right now, @Sammysam is correct that you can’t officially start a romantic relationship at this point in the demo. My plans put the start of true romance starting in chapter 5 (but this could change).
Really? I thought I remembered scoring a kiss after cooking with Mila. Was that just my head cannon overwriting reality? Eh, wouldn’t be the first time I guess.
@SeventhJackel That does happen in the game, but it isn’t considered to be a true start to a romantic relationship. You basically let her know you’re interested (and vice versa). Only a few characters will have moments before chapter 5 that are slightly intimate, but the point where you are in a romantic, exclusive relationship doesn’t begin until chapter 5.
Are we able to soul bond twice? Or does the one we have with the planet not count?
Adrian romance should be interesting, considering my character is sorta like him.
Anyways, I really enjoy your story and it’s amazing.
Ah, the old “are we exclusive yet?” misunderstanding. Yeah I’ve made that mistake before too.
I was also wondering about just how exclusive we have to be. I think the background info said that vamps at least are open with their relationships. Are you planning any kind of poly relationships? I understand if not, it would be a bit more work, but it would make it easier to choose between Mila and Beatriz if I didn’t have to.
@Milk You are bound already, but you get to bind to one person once. The Connect is unique in that they get to have these two bonds.
Also, you aren’t necessarily bound to the planet. Remember, that the Division and Rueben are speculating as to what you’re bound to, but no one really knows (except me ).
@SeventhJackel The type of relationship you have, and when it becomes exclusive, changes based on the character you’re romancing. Some of them will demand exclusivity, others will wait until you are ready to commit. It also depends on what the other character sees as cheating.
For example, Mila will demand exclusivity from you in order to go farther in your relationship and sees any physical closeness with another as cheating (hugging, kissing, touching etc). Adrian will wait for you to decide when to be exclusive and he won’t see physical closeness as cheating. He sees emotional closeness as cheating. In fact most Vampires do. Obviously Adrian won’t begrudge you close friends or bonds, but if you take emotional comfort in another before him or about very personal things he will be hurt by that. Race and culture are factors in how these characters feel about relationships.
As to poly relationships it’s a yes/no kind of answer. At the moment, there’s only one character who won’t mind you having other (whether physical or emotional) relationships with others and that’s Vern. But he has a condition, if you want this kind of relationship that he should be able to have other relationships as well. If you want him to be exclusive, you must be exclusive; if you want open relationships, he must be able to have them too.
Mila sees hugging as cheating?
Never hugging Megan (she’s the daughter right?) again.
I wonder if you even do know what they’re connected to and you’re just trying to make suspense… Right now my guess is on a primordial big bad guy who could be mistaken for a planet, who I would think woke us up, this guess is based on cliches and tropes though so it’s fickle and will change.
@Dark_Stalker Werewolves are very sensitive to body language and physical proximity (even without being in a romantic relationship), but children are the exception. Also, if it is very clear that you just have close friendship then they won’t get supper uppity about it. Like Mila knows Megan/Victoria and the nature of that relationship. Of course Mila won’t just expect you to know this, she’ll talk to you and make things clear.
In the game, you’re relationship bar needs to be at a certain threshold so she won’t see it as romantic interest, but as a friendship.
It would be awfully concerning if I didn’t know… , but I do so no worries.
(and it will be revealed in the next chapter!) It is not the bad guy, I will say that much.
Oooh, awesome. Mila reminds me of this character named Mandy on this show called Shameless. She is the same way when it comes to that irrational cheating crap. It’s funny though. I’m not even gonna guess what we could be connected to.
Well, well, well Adrian has nothing to worry about!
Also, when Perry has us take some nasty potion so we wouldn’t get anyone pregnant or get pregnant, if we play as a guy does that mean we can get pregnant aswell?
Isn’t next chapter around a major split for the leave path… I am gonna have to search for this secret aren’t I?
I wouldn’t be that concerned if you didn’t, then it would be a surprise for everyone.
I’m now imagining werewolf dates as sparring sessions and a lot of misunderstandings due to cultural differences…
@Milk The potion prevents women from getting pregnant and men from impregnating a woman. Men can’t get pregnant.
@Dark_Stalker The next chapter is the split point from the Marked, where you leave to go with your new faction, but the connection is a story plot point, so, you won’t miss it.
As to Werewolf dates… sparring is a necessity for improving ones skills, and in a culture where strength is the number one value, they won’t mind you wrestling around with someone who isn’t your partner. Of course what happens in the ring is forgivable. Outside of the ring is another matter.
…Well now I feel somewhat awkward for quite literally pouncing on Perry…
@Sammysam It’s the Werewolf Faction that takes the physical closeness stuff seriously. The Division has made it clear that the same rules of each culture doesn’t really apply. So, Perry or any other Werewolf that you pounce on will know that you aren’t trying to announce some sort of romantic interest and they’ll see it as more playful.
So, does all of this mean that Adrian is more inclined to being in a committed relationship than most other vampires, or am I just reading things wrongly? And please tell me that we can get Neil and Yaella together, because I ship them more together than I ship the protagonist with Yaella. ~ <3
Also, how does does the party member thing work in the division, because if I remember right I think there was something mentioned about there being two people in a sqwuad besides the MC … ? Or was I just dreaming that?
…You know, worded like that it sounds quite like the opposite of what my MC tries to achieve (Because I can assure you my MC certainly tries to announce some romantic interest for Perry
, but it’s nice that this can’t happen by accident. That would be awkward.
)
@aegis.kitty For Vampires, emotions are basically the heart of a relationship and in this regard they get jealous and possessive. While they’re open with the physical part of relationships, most of them want the emotional stuff to stay just between the two of you. Adrian wouldn’t mind if you had physical relations elsewhere, but the emotional stuff is really important to him. To him commitment is about the emotional sharing.
Right now the plan is to allow you to play matchmaker and get them together in future chapters, but this might change.
Party member stuff hasn’t been introduced quite yet, but my plan is to have the number of members (on official missions) be dependent on what type of mission it is (so stealth missions will allow fewer people for example). But overall, the factions see it as the more people go with you, the more likely you’ll survive, so, most of the time you will have several people with you.
@Sammysam Even if announcing your interest was your intention, in Perry’s mind he’s going, “Oh my gosh! S/He likes me! Wait. Take a step back and think about how a person who hasn’t grown up in the Werewolf faction would look at this…”
“I can’t believe Perry’s taking advantage of the Connect someone who is a couple of days old!”
Heh, well I guess that will be a nice suprise as soon as MC can verbally/unambiguously announce their interest…in the sense of “By the way you know that was me clumsily trying to flirt?”
@Dark_Stalker To be fair, the Connect is technically 26 years… they’ve only been awake and conscious for the last few days…
@Sammysam Oh, that would be a cute option to have. Excuse me while I make a note of that…
The excuse would be they’re emotionally a baby maybe mentally depending on how much the built in knowledge applies to everyday life, I mean come on I need some way to spread funny division rumors.
