Story Idea: Fare Thee Well
High fantasy, stand-alone story, with a low scope as it is my first CYOA story.
With war seemingly inevitable, make your decision to flee or fight. Abandon all you’ve known in life for the chance of safety, or brave the horrors of a seemingly unwinnable fight.
Gather your courage and say your farewells; there are rarely correct choices.
The main conflict will be that of morality, expectations, and consequences. There can be fighting depending on the decisions made, but it will not be the primary focus. (I have learned I’m kind of shit at fight scenes.)
The main intent of the story is to allow players to navigate social pressures and obligations placed on you by the society you live in. Extremely character and dialogue driven. This story will be pretty short, but I hope to make up for the lack of agency and length with emotion, as highly impactful choices will be rare.
Will be nearly all story rather than game.
Admittedly, my primary goal for this thread is to maintain motivation through reader interaction. Receiving feedback is always nice, and helps to understand weak areas of my writing, as well as gauge support and general enjoyment.
As for projections on release and demo updates, I am, at the moment, unsure. I am still working to understand ChoiceScript, as I am typically rather shit at learning new things, I do not believe I can realistically give any estimates. Nor can I guarantee that the project will not be dropped in a week if I can’t figure out how to crank out a chapter.
