No need to be asses about it though, just say you prefer cats (or contribute some cute fluffy feline pictures on the fur baby topic) and be done with it. Why’d you feel compelled to spit negativity like molds spreading its spore? For someone who likes a graceful animal such as a cat you seem to be as refined as hippos. Pardon my insult.
Cats and dogs are great, and they get along well with each other more than people do with their own kind. All being said, let’s leave the cat vs dog debate to reddit — where it belongs — and get back on topic, shall we?
Nuh uh, it was for the above who used the vomit emoji and the others above that one that pioneered this… hmm… curious squabble, for the lack of better words. Though it’s understandable if you feel called out since my comment is right under yours, perhaps I should’ve used the quotation feature… which I don’t know how to do
Okay, but this argument ignores the purpose of Spoon. A therapy animal, particularly one that may be needed to help steady it’s carer, cannot be the size of a cat. If Chen doesn’t have his legs on, and needs help staying upright, there’s no way a cat can do that. He has to have a dog.
I don’t think the complaints are about Spoon being a dog, but about Sidestep being into dogs in general without any choice, with the whole “going to the dog park for the relaxing bath in simpleton minds” thing etc. Personally it doesn’t bother me that much (hence my aforementioned reaction being more of the anyway variety) because i don’t self-insert in the IF characters, but for people who do and who happen to not care much for dogs, i can see how it’d be pretty annoying.
Ahh, ok. I’ve gotten into the habit of responding to this kind of approach from dog lovers (tho some cat lovers are like that too I guess). It started with my cousin’s labrador. When I come over with my family, there’s always cooing time over the labrador. I’m indifferent, of course xD so everyone starts: oh look how cute she’s lying on her back, oh look she wants to play with you, oh look how smart she is
As if they felt obligated to remind me that dogs are adorable and that’s a fact.
At least there’s only one scene if you’re not close to Steel so it doesn’t bother me too much. But I got a little annoyed when Herald said something like “you like petting dogs when the owners aren’t looking” Wha– it’s brushing against dog’s mind at best, no petting!
I thought (it’s been a while since I played) there were alternative options to going to the dog park? Isn’t going a choice?
Yeah, that’s what happens with my sister and her dog when they come visiting. It’s like…yeah, he’s cute, now can you leave the room and take him with you? And I like dogs, but I don’t want every conversation where a dog is present or nearby to be about the dog. (Just like with babies.) I can’t think of a single thing more offensively boring.
I’ve looked at the game script to make sure and as far as i can tell it’a s no: Sidestep visits the park automatically to recharge their mental batteries (and specifically notes they went there “for the dogs”) after waking up from mandatory nightmare, that occurs shortly after you can have a coffee with Hindenburg.
You can sort-of pick the attitude once you go there, but it’s three variants of “dogs are awesome” and one “i’m wary of dogs because of my past even if i understand now that they’re awesome”, so, well.
thought this was the best place to post this so I’m coming out of lurking mode for a bit to say I’ve recently set up a fanwiki on Miraheze at fhr.miraheze.org for Fallen Hero! There’s a lot of content in the games, and I felt it was worthwhile making one to catch all the details people might miss.
Fanwikis are supposed to be a collaborative effort so I’m hoping that getting more eyes on this means more people can chip in. I’m gonna be providing some documentation on the wiki to help people new to wiki editing learn how to contribute (I’ve been teaching myself how to do it myself, but it’s not the easiest to understand it by yourself so I’m hoping I can streamline it a bit by putting the relevant stuff in one place). See you there <3
4 cats. All loveable and loyal as well. Guess it depends on the person possibly? They seek attention often and want to sit on me. Often. Especially when I need to do something, they sit on me.
i did grow up with cats like i said dont get me wrong cats are also great , but to honest you can work more with a dog like securtiy drug snuffing and the list goes on, cats can be loyal too but they also a bit sneaky too^^ if a dog dislikes you they go away from you a cat sometimes wait till it can strike^^
He definitely seems to be more of an emotional support animal. Chen talks about how he originally was made to raise a puppy as a way to learn fine motor skills with his hand prosthetics, and it seems like he found that an emotionally settling experience and after army retirement decided another dog might be good for him. It’s likely Spoon is also not a trained service dog, as Chen talks about Spoon’s history being a racing greyhound before adoption. Sidestep also has some narration about how he must look to others like “just another vet dealing with PTSD by getting a dog” (as opposed to looking like a superhero).
Chen does at one point mention Spoon chewing on his prosthetics though, which won’t lie, sounds expensive and distressing but also really cute lol. That’s the only time I can think of where Spoon is mentioned in relation to his physical condition.
exactly the same with dogs there is no point in arguning wich pet is better, in the end every pet benifts from us but thats the point and you said it right self now domesticated, animals where not supposd for that no matter wich one, a dog is a sheep in wolf clothes just hiden , cats are sheeps in lion clothes, they dont need us at all if we are frankly but humans did that with a lot animals on no way nature did say yes humans have to make animals pets they are pretty good survining without us destroying the world.
but lets stop to discuss whats right and wrong we are here all for the wip lets get back to topic^^
I originally planned to let Sidestep have a pet (with choices of what) but then I realized that would probably fix them in ways the story couldn’t handle so… I removed the pet option.
(I personally is a cat person, Chen however is a dog person)
I’m sure I am not the first person to say this, but please don’t ever let anything bad happen to Spoon. Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please.
