technically, they really donât. Because you stole Ace body, and while you used it thatâs all you did. You donât know the psychĂ© of the body. You used the envelope (the body), but the mind governing said body was out of the mc to reach therefor there is no 100% connection there. The mc has the opposite relationship with their own body. They reside more in the mind while they hate the shell they are stuck in because of who they are.(Hence the dissasociation, and body issue). And because of that, I donât see the 100% connexion. Sure, it doesnât need to be sinceâŠthe perfect mind connects to a perfect bodyâŠand you get the perfect human. ButâŠnot enough for me lol

I wonât lie a tiny part of me does want to see them in love but thatâs only because I would be very interested in seeing how Malin would navigate the relationship into a romantic one in a way that doesnât romanticize the physical, mental and emotional shit that was done to Ace by the MC because, at the end of that day, the MC used them and it doesnât matter if MC was the best to Ace by making sure theyâre very well taken care of, not putting them in harmâs way if given the choice and not using them to romanticly or sexual get close to anyone as that fact still stands and I think I can say for everyone that no one wants that relationship to become a 50 shades of grey oneâŠ
And to be honest, the more I read other peopleâs thoughts about Ace and the MC the more I donât even see them being able to become friends plus if you take into account that we are what Shroud is (I just learned this after replaying the games) then hell no Ace isnât going to want anything to do with the MC that doesnât involve death, torture or both so yeah no friends between them or anything more.
Now with all that being said I do think if they did become more than friends itâs because they both desperately want to forget everything bad thatâs going on and that for one night they can pretend without fear and judgment that their lives arenât messed up and that theyâre just a normal couple who love and want one another instead of the really messed Codependent relationship they have in reality.

To be fair, Sidestep is âwhat Shroud isâ in the broadest of senses. Yes, theyâre both re-genes, but this is as much similarity as âtheyâre both humansâ and their personalities can be nothing alike. If Ace (or anyone) canât look past that, then itâs on them.

I donât know about friendship, but maybe a decent non-hostile relationship could still be possible? The thing is, without Sidestep, Ace wouldnât have a body to come back to, since Shroud intended to sell it for parts. Mind you, it doesnât undo the fact that Sidestep has been using their body for years, but Ace would be dead otherwise.
Another thing is, Shroud said that Ace didnât have any close friends and was a âbitter and lonely soulâ, so perhaps they didnât have a very likable personality. They are hot, Sidestep could easily build connections with people using their body, so why was Ace lonely? Perhaps there was something about their personality or attitude that didnât attract people. Or maybe they are just introverted. 
If they have not-so-nice personality, they could either take what Sidestep did to them very personally and want revenge, or actually understand why they did it and even think âI would have done the same if I was in this positionâ, because theyâre just as bad as Sidestep. 
Maybe if Sidestep could help them by âfixingâ Shroud problem, Ace would forgive them, and they would part ways on a decent enough terms. Although I wonder what Ace would do from now on: they became known and well-connected in certain circles while Sidestep was using their body, whether they like it or not. Omg, if theyâre smart and cunning enough, they could use this to manipulate Sidestep, if Sidestep wants to keep their ability to possess people a secret. So many possibilities!
Personally, I donât ship my Sidesteps with my Aces, but a friendship between them would be cute. Highly unlikely, but cute!

Not that weird since Ace was eaten well before Step (as Ace) met Mortum. And Shroud would have to touch (and eat) Step/Ace again to learn about Mortum from Ace. Unlike Step she canât read thoughts without contact.

Time skips plus Mortum has a crush on the puppet and let me put it this way Mortum only does things for the puppet (no matter who is in there) at the ending of book 2 if there relationship is at 60 or 65 if you did the reveal and it did not go well. So Mortum can dislike the puppet so no they are not always chummy with them

No, I though that was due to low self esteem, and self loathing. I mean, I get itâŠsome win the lotto when it come to genetic, and some totally get screwed. I knowâŠbeen there, done that.
