Is one of the hints in the hospital scene where an exposed Sidestep experiences a sharp pains in their head when they’re trying to tell the Ortega the truth/their motivation? Always thought that headache was sus af.

Hmm, if you’re talking about the Farm to Ortega, some of the text changes depending on how many gates you open. It describes what Sidestep endured as either something repressed, buried, or a wound that’s actively throbbing/bleeding.
I wonder, are the gates opening just Sidestep progressively unrepressing the hell they endured? If this is correct, then it may explain why Sidestep can force the last two gates to remain closed. MC has endured enough to force open the first seven. God help them for whatever new forms of hell they will have to endure to open the last two.

Personally I think another hint is how Step describes their face as “it feels numb under your fingertips” during the hospital scene, but if I remember correctly that’s not the only time such wording is used. 
Now I could be wrong, but I do agree with the feeling that there’s something muddying your mind when you try to speak up. That scene after the talk with Ortega where Step’s actively confused, I don’t remember the correct wording but it was something like “I was wrong… or was I” (perhaps it was the same scene where the numbness is mentioned.)
Extra sus if you ask me

Well at least Argent feels a bit bad after doing that and telling the truth to her about mind control was probably smart. We even got a relationship boost from that.
I guess fanboy still has some influence on her after all this time despite the argument they had in book 1.
Argent genuinely feels bad. Maybe not because she hurt you, but because she lost control of herself. Girl is constantly forced to keep track herself AND her “sharks” in check. For that moment, she completely lost it.

I see there is an option to load checkpoints, but I just go back to the beginning of the game. Does a checkpoint let you know when you get to it?

Damn this opened my eyes, it could be that Sidestep right now is just another clone with a copy of the original clone or controlled by someone else, I think this happened in the DC show Young Justice.
I mean the game never specified what abuse Sidestep went through and how did Sidestep escape not once but TWICE from a secure black ops government facility which should have Pentagon level security…author hid it for some reason hmmm, lets see what happens in the future.
Also I hope one day we can use AI to help write stuff so that the books come faster out lol

Because Herald is 22, while everyone else are old Gen Xers, Sidestep is mid 30s, Ortega and Steel is mid 40s bruh.
Basically I think they’re some traumatic events that can make Step more powerful (and slowly make them go insane in the process, i guess?)

I have another thought about Heralds bro this time.
That his bro might be Lord Ember. They both pyro. We know that he was badly burnt after boost. And that’s a reason why he sent Shroud after regenerator. Sidstep fought him but he was under diferent name in dialogue with Dr.Mortum.
Summary
“Lord…,” you grimace. Back when you fought him, he was just Emberstorm.
And Herald said that they get boosted 10 years ago.

Cant find moment when Danny told Sidestep how his supposedly die in hospital in a few days or something. I doubt he saw the body.
I feel like i’m Ortega but with shittier exposition skill and coordination…

Thanks my G, I need more trauma in Sidestep. Stories where the MC has no problems or backstory end up as forgettable like Wayhaven for eg. This is why anime is loved and why Spider Man and Batman is loved

Also I just realized that the feminine character Herald is a dude while the wild masculine character is Argent a girl, interesting.
I never romanced Herald but once but yeah Sidestep feels really guilty especially if they break Herald’s knee then romances them bruh thats cray cray
Haven’t seen anything that makes herald feminine and anything that makes argent masculine… Just because herald has softer personality and argent is tough ( and that more on the surface if they open to you more) - doesn’t affect anything. That’s just prejudice

Its either when you scout auction as puppet or go to auction with mortum and go to the gambling tables and stayin there until you meet Shroud. Then ask mortum to research Shroud. You going to meet in person and talk about things.

There is no proof to this particular info. Shroud also re-gene an also have intrest in this thing but she works for Lord Ember thats a fact. So its just a theory. As for Herald’s brothers being burnt after boost go wrong - its in his route. I cant remember when exactly. Dinner probably
