Why do you think that? Now I’m curious
The option I picked wasn’t any of those
Well, in one ending I had something like ‘You feel something has changed. Missing from you’…and that lead to Puppet waking up. Then I noticed in the ending where I make the puppet crash, they wake up screaming in comparison to others ending. So, 2 things: 1) We only tried to connect to the puppet, there is a chance we lost our powers. IF this is true, then HB is back. They took our POWERS with them.
My Step chose to work with HG purely because he wasn’t sure he’d walk out of the kingpin’s lair alive if he didn’t. He was able to make that decision using his own free will, no strings attached.
I always thought it was just referring as how MC couldn’t connect with the puppet anymore. At least my MC can still uses his powers after the car crash (after sending the puppet to the meeting)
There are pro-con to some options. For example, if you send the puppet…you can Tail HG and find out where they lives.
Then you can send them Flowers…
Be My Valentine in Crime??
That would be too simple…
Look at how Dr.Mortum turned out. In book 1, it seemed like just a Simple romance, with a weird dynamic and secrets.
Malin doesn’t do easy or simple…
The Plot thicken!
Because I doubt the whole ending is just about ‘Who stole your body, and who is back’, why make it easy when you can make it harder? ![]()
They write the same way I do!
I could be wrong, but this is my theory..or at least, that’s how I would do it.
- Yes, I told my Chosen Romance everything.
- Nope. Not gonna tell them squat!
- Didn’t have a choice, bad driver = They found out.
I don’t think we lose our power but we can’t slip in puppet body because someone take puppet body now
Thats what we are ASSUMING!..
There is nothing that say we haven’t lost our powers. Beside, its a Theory, theories don’t need to be shut down…the book will confirm it or not.
If you stuck in puppet still have power precognition ัYou still use to break you body in hospital while If we stuck in our body we still have telepath but just can’t slip in puppet body So, I think It’s impossible we lose telepath power . And I don’t tell you that your theories is wrong or right .I just comment about what I think.
Can anyone spoil Rahim Attroney screen ending to me ? I want to know what happen in this screen .
In some paths I do spill all of them, in some I don’t. I’ll carry both variants forward. However the regene beans get spilled either way since my Step hates being in the puppet and only uses it because he must. That and he told his chosen romance about being a Re-gene well before that secret was forced out to all the Rangers.
Turned out my MC’s chosen romance already knew about the whole thing so it was more like discussing details than an actual reveal
Uhh----? There definitely is something that says we still have our powers, if any of the Rangers break you out you use your powers to get out, and also can feel the dampeners while in the hospital [which you couldn’t if you lost your telepathy, Ortega will point it out in the Hospital if you are guilty and complain about the dampeners while claiming you don’t have powers].
Sigh…
Or maybe the Theory only work for ‘Some’ ending? Did anyone think of that?
Just like in my ending, the puppet is in the hospital…which is different from others ending.
Also, I wrote ‘CRAZY’ for a reason…sheesh… ![]()
My Step spilled some of the beans. About being a re-gene and the Farm, but not about being a villain. Maybe add another option that is “part of the beans”?
And I don’t think the MC lost their powers, but I think they lost a “part” of them. Maybe what they lost is dependent on what mirror they punch?
I keep thinking about the comment at the bar, about how it’s “too much baggage for one body”, and I get the impression that it wasn’t a throwaway line. And it’s not referring to the emotional baggage, either. It may be referring to the fact that Sidestep is toting around other consciousnesses (hence the sudden precog via the puppet).
Can’t edit a poll once its made, told you that before ![]()
Besides the Question doesn’t have to have a specific answer.
Here’s one even crazier You are not the original Sidestep! You are just another clone with their Memories implanted. The original Sidestep is either dead during HB accident or still around somewhere
They are all puppets in my hands
The thing about being enemy… Is that an enemy can’t back stab you, only front stab you.
Don’t even know what are you talking about… My relationship with him/her is “just business”.
For once that I found a CYOA where stealth is not situational or scrappy mechanic let me enjoy it
Argent knows both secrets (well three in her case) Told her to be a ReGene to gain her trust, told the secret identity because my insanity said “just… why not?” and confess her to messed her head because she isn’t dumb and she would figure it anyway
Ortega knows That Sidestep is a ReGene because car crash. I must say the scene where he/she speculate about Sidestep being HG lost sibling is freaky hilarious
Argent and Sidestep had a heart to heart talk in the Rangers’ nursery: “How much do you think to be able to keep the facade? It won’t be long before the others do 2+2”
Dr.Mortum ask you to get a ‘Gun’ from the auction…you should try using it for fun ![]()
I hope the clone theory isn’t right, because I could see myself liking the human one but clones? I don’t know, for some reason I immediately scrunched up my nose at that.
I don’t know if the narrative would feel as good, where Step to be more fake than they thought (not that I think regenes are tools, but you get it.)
Also yeah, like other people already said, I don’t think Step loses their powers either, because there would have been text + what would the bodysnatcher do with a body deprived of what they need most for whatever war they have planned? It’s highly unlikely.
You could say you lose them to Fakestep in certain endings, but at the end of the day they’re still there.
@E_RedMark
Hey
I got like six Sidesteps and you want me to choose just one option?
Ended up making a list (is a long one and has spoilers) about various choices my Sidesteps made:
Summary
What did you do with Captain Blaze?
-First Sidestep (mob boss): Killed him quickly because that way they can fracture the team.
-Second Sidestep (hero hunter): Killed Captain Blaze by impaling him through a flagpole. She’s not a Hero Hunter,, she’s a Hero Killer thank you very much.
-Third Sidestep (thief): Blaze managed to notice her attempt to steal a briefcase and she set up an succesful ambush for him. She even managed to defeated Captain Blaze in a fight. Left him alive.
-Fourth Sidestep (mob boss): SHE LOST!! SHE LOST AGAINST CAPTAIN BLAZE!! I WILL FOREVER LAUGH ABOUT IT!! Did manage to kill Deveraux.
-Fifth Sidestep (anarchist): Put doubts in Captain Blaze’s mind.
-Sixth Sidestep (mob boss): Defeated Captain Blaze in a fight, but left him alive (he wasn’t known to be a killer at that point so killing Captain Blaze/Deveraux would have revealed him to be a killer)
Did you accept to work with Hollow Ground?
-First Sidestep: Nope! Also figured out what HG’s powers are. Sneaked into HG’s mind and saw HG’s memory. HG allowed them to leave peacefully. Hmm. Maybe don’t necessarily have to be enemies? , things might change in the future? Will have to see…
-Second Sidestep: She…“agreed” to work with HG (because she got caught in HG’s web lmfao what a loser)
-Third Sidestep: She figured out what HG’s powers are, but still agreed to work with HG (because she was curious what connected them together and…she kinda likes HG’s whole style?)
-Fourth Sidestep: She went to the meeting as Puppet (because considered Puppet to be expendable) and HG ordered Jake to kill Puppet.
-Fifth Sidestep: She was very nervous and wary about meeting the kingpin, was painfully aware how outnumbered she was as well, but didn’t want to find out what would happen if she refused to go to the meeting as herself, also refusing to go to the meeting might also set up an obstacle for her plans. She didn’t shake HG’s hand at all, but agreed to work with HG for potential information only (this is a business relationship), will have to see if the information proves useful or not. Right now wouldn’t be above stabbing HG in the back the moment their business comes to an end, (she’s anarchist, HG is upholding the system from the underground, might be smarter to take her down?) but who knows if things might change?
Oh, and she’s also susceptible to HG’s powers…
-Sixth Sidestep: He shook hands with HG, but his Strength of Mind telepathy was too strong for HG’s powers to crack through. Refused HG’s offer to work together. Managed to break through the dampeners and strengthened HG’s paranoia that he was at a risk as well. HG’s allowed him to leave peacefully.
Did you release the Cacofiend (It’s Catastrofiend!) from Dr.Mortum Gun?
-First Sidestep: Yup. They tried to shoot Lady Argent (flirting relationship) with Mortum’s gun because she wanted a reason to trust them and that would mean either revealing their identity or the reason they wanted the regeneration machine and no way they would do that. Besides by giving into her demands, they’d be indirectly giving power to her.
The two of them joined forces to take down Catastrofiend and they saved Lady Argent from falling rubble. She allowed them to take the regeneration machine but Catastrofiend is still on the run.
-Second Sidestep: ??? Mortum’s gun has WHAT now??? And I gave her the gun??? (she has no idea what the gun has lol)
-Third Sidestep: Nope! No idea Catastrofiend is in Mortum’s gun.
-Fourth Sidestep: yup. Shot Lady Argent (who considered her villain self to be a cheater) with Mortum’s gun. She managed to stay in the background while Lady Argent fought the Catastrofiend. Ended up seeing Lady Argent’s body melt and turn to smoke and do something weird shit. Catastrofiend still survived it?!? Also Lady Argent considers her villain self to be her nemesis now
-Fifth Sidestep: She visited the Casino with Mortum and I’ve played that scene few times. On couple of occasion she accidentally releases the Catastrofiend, but…I think on her “Main playthrough” she doesn’t release it?
-Sixth Sidestep: Has no idea that Catastrofiend is in Mortum’s gun.
What kind of Vilain are you really?
-First Sidestep: They are a villain and mob boss because it’s inevitable and don’t know what else to do. They don’t imagine they will live very long.
But they’re also competent villain, they’ve put a lot of effort into creating their villain self to be someone of power, someone to be feared and respected, all control and confidence. Good boss to their henchmen, the crew consider them to be friendly and likable, and they have a really high leadership so no problems there. The crew gives them some kind of purpose. Also ruthless, are able to kill people in the business and people know it. Some people are better off as dead.
Second Sidestep: She doesn’t place any value on the lives of people and has killed a lot people. She’s hero hunter/killer and she wants to prove she’s better than anyone else in the city. Bold, fearless, and fiercely independent, she’s built her villain self as a monster from some other dimension, someone to be feared of. Terrified even. Chaos and mayham aren’t far behind her where she goes. (she even went on a rampage at the auction even though she was there to only steal Mortum’s gun)
-Third Sidestep: Doesn’t kill, is technically prepared to kill people in the business, but it would be her last resort. She’s built her villain self to be someone of brilliance and utter confidence, someone people can’t help but to be awed at. She takes great pride in her career as a thief, but she also considers her status as a villain just a means to an end. Once she’s accomplished her goals, I could see her maybe trying to retire and try out that whole “civilian/normal life” thing.
-Fourth Sidestep: She doesn’t care who her targets are. So long as they stand in her way, lethal measures will be taken (not a mass murderer but has gotten civilians killed). She’s mob boss but only because she sees that as a means for her revenge and only method to built a power base large enough to take down the Farm and everything else connected to it. She’s created her villain self to be a mystery and an enigma, even her crew don’t know what she looks like or where her villain base is, they only know she’s terrifying and strict (I really want to see them betray her that would be so funny). Cautious, wary, and sneaky, she’s managed to keep her identity as a villain a secret from everyone.
She doesn’t really have any plans beyond her revenge.
-Fifth Sidestep: She’s anarchist aiming to kill people in power (the only way to make sure none of them will return and destroy her plans. She doesn’t believe destroying their reputations would be enough). She’s managed to keep her kills hidden or indirect (would prefer a projectile weapon of some kind, like a sniper rifle so she could take her targets down from a distance. Easier to stay hidden and get away faster) Her villain persona is purely professional, doesn’t allow herself to be caught in Villain Power High or displays of terror. She’s here to do a job and that’s it. Sneaky, cautious, and quiet, she prefers the shadows.
-Sixth Sidestep: Mob boss as well, and he’s the one with long-term plans to built his own criminal empire that he can rule as the kingpin (HG will be dead soon enough) because that’s how you get the good life for yourself. He named his villain self Sovereign so that should tell you a lot about his villain persona as well. His crew likes him.
Don’t let that confidence fool you though! He’s a COWARD! He WILL run away at the first sign of trouble in a fight, and he WILL call you a coward while running away (It’s not RUNNING AWAY, it’s a TACTICAL RETREAT). He also made Lady Argent accidentally kill a civilian (and ran away the second he realized she’s angry.)
Also, just quickly noting, maybe Sidestep lost their ability to possess people after the car crash and that might explain potentially feeling like “they lost something”
