I think it could be that the MC always had this power level, but didn’t develop/train it due to moral principles. If you argue with Ortega you can bring up a time that they broke up with an ex and asked the MC to mindwipe them, and Ortega/MC fought about it at the time because the MC was appalled by the ethical implications.
The MC used to want to be a hero so much, I’m sure that they never considered puppeting someone or any of the shady things they do now daily.

If i remember correctly MC just used powers to read opponent’s movements (i think its stated sonewhere in earlier parts)

Throwing my two cents in, i think the MC did have the potential but was too as others have said scared or always felt like a second rate so they didnt really delve on it and especially the fact they wanted to be a good guy so much that they focused on abilities that would boost them in battle or help others but after the heartbreak incident i could be wrong but i think heartbreak triggered something inside the MC which broke there mental barrier so much causing them trauma as well as more capacity for there abilities plus i also like to think that heartbreak is actually related to the clone

I’m serious. My MC so far has been a pretty mellow villain, but if something happens to Ortega, she will tear the whole world down.
Ortega is like her moral compass. Don’t take that away from a very unstable, very powerful telepath. It won’t go well.

Soak the earth in the blood of those responsible… They deserved it if anything happens to Ortega that’s not the MC beating the shit out of them, 'cuz MC at least felt terrible for it…and technically that’s anyway the fault of the farm

I was worried if the farm or something would hold Ortega hostage. I know they can take care of themselves but I can see MC enemies trying to harm Ortega.

Oh my… What if they somehow realize how important Ortega is to the MC and use them as bait? Or worse, as a way to make us pay for our disobedience.
