Eternal - Chooseyourstory Game (Mature Content)

looking forward to it

Neat, I like your stories and can’t wait to read more.

any idea when it will be up?

Finally for the Empire!
Oh Shit I think I am turning Prothean!

I thought this was about vampiers people lol

I’m replaying Eternal again, just because it has my favorite ending in all of Endmaster’s games.

@EndMaster: Even though A Very Special Choose Your Own Story was extremely depressing and seriously made me want to cry, I just wanna say that you did an awesome job writing it man.

I loved how you gave me false hope when I went down the Jacob path! :stuck_out_tongue:

Of all the stories I’ve read on Choose Your Story, Eternal is easily my favorite, although Necromancer is definitely up there too. Kudos to you on your fine work @EndMaster.

I enjoy the shadow guard path best so far

@alexx

This last path won’t be finished until sometime next year. I am finished with chapter 1 and have started on working on chapter 2 though.

Ultimately I decided that this one just needed a single “chapter 2” and it’ll most likely branch into two different chapter 3s afterwards. I added a few more choice selections during the first chapter to keep text from running too long on a single page since some of the passages were like 6 or 7 pages on a Word doc. Also added a couple more background links along with even switching some of the text in them into the main storyline since I felt some of it was more directly important for the story.

What I’ve read of your work has always come across as morose, mildly sadistic, and utterly pessimistic. Bloody marvellous.

The funny thing is, some guy not along ago sent me two long PMs saying he liked my stories, but wanted me to put even more graphic violence and twisted stuff in them. (Pretty much the opposite of that other guy I mentioned earlier in the thread)

Which just goes to show there’s always someone who thinks you aren’t “hardcore” enough. I’m sure he would’ve loved the original concept of LoveSICK

Basically what I’m doing with Eternal of having a “full life” from the cradle to the grave type thing, well that was something I’ve been wanting to do with a story for years. Its only just now I’ve been accomplishing it. Other stories have come close, but I never started the story right from when the character was actually born.

Well Love SICK (Or Twisted as it was going to be called) was one of the first stories where I had that concept. The idea was a lot grimmer than Love SICK is in its current form. It was to be the entire life of a serial killer, right from the really messed up birth (Whore mother giving birth to you on a dirty public bathroom floor with a passed out bum in a nearby stall) to your death (Which would obviously come in many forms) Basically how you were raised (which would nearly always be bad) and your experiences during childhood would determine what kind of serial killer you’d end up being. I would’ve went for more realism as well.

But I sort of got bored with the concept though because it was more fun to write something really over the top instead.

Do you think you’ll write a game using choicescript one day?

Sometimes I think if I had more time I might get into making more “game” like stories, but its one of those things I’d need to get motivated to do as well. I’ve actually been asked to make a story using the game engine over at Choose Your Story a few times, but I never have there either. Its probably why I still consider Infinite Story “home” because it just has the simple writing engine that I prefer.

I just look at coding, scripting, etc and those are things that just don’t excessively call out to me. Legend was the closest game attempt I did and not even halfway through it started feeling like a chore to put in all the game elements like stats, inventory, etc. I was happy to be done with the story mainly because I was tired of writing in the game elements rather than focusing on the storyline.

Obviously there are a lot of other people who make good CYOAs with game engines like the one here, but I don’t think its for me really. I just don’t have the patience for it. Who knows though, maybe one day I’ll genuinely sit down and try it.

The stories have excellent writing but I feel like it would have been better off as normal novels. Any choice that the author didn’t intend for you to choose just leads to a dead end.

I don’t think that, there’s multiple paths, each equally long

Eternal is an amazing game, I’ve played it relentlessly and the Shadow path was one of the best bit of story I’ve read in a long while. I don’t mind saying I’m a bit of a fanboy for Eternal, but Endmaster’s work on that site is, as I’ve said in plenty of other topics on these forums, very very good.

Hm, somehow I missed a bunch of these posts. It’s interesting @EndMaster what you had originally planned for LOVESick. Especially since I might have actually found that enjoyable to read, or at least a lot more interesting than just watching a sadistic evil monster going around causing horrible suffering to random people for no reason.

@Endmaster How is the struggle path going?
I really need my dose of Long Live the Empire!

@player: I’m currently on “Year 28” on the second chapter. I’m hoping to at least get most of the second chapter done by the New Year, but we’ll see.

So far I think this storyline has been darker than the other two, but given that you’re the right hand of a tyrant that was trained by Mistress until you were 16 that’s pretty much to be expected.

@shoelip: Well LoveSICK’s original incarnation would’ve certainly been more complex, but like I said it probably would’ve been even more graphic as far as content is concerned which might’ve made it even more brutal to sit and read through since you basically would’ve still been reading about a sadistic monster doing really bad things to people. Definitely wouldn’t have had any of the sociopathic comedy in it.

Using a horror movie equivalent I’d say LoveSICK in its original form would’ve been more like “A Serbian Film”. LoveSICK in its current form is more like “The Devil’s Rejects”.

In some ways though I have somewhat incorporated a little bit of LoveSICK’s original concept into Eternal since it starts at birth and your childhood basically breeds you into being a killer. Granted the character isn’t a serial killer in the traditional sense, but in most paths he’s pretty damn ruthless when it comes to killing and he’s doing an awful lot of it.
