Will the subclasses only be demonic path or will there be other subclasses not tied to demonic power?
Apologies for the delays! Been a bit swamped with my IRL work. ![]()
The Ranger and Ace of Fate are two classes that do not have a demonic subclass at all. In addition, the Elementalist and Paladin subclasses for the Knight and Warlock are non-demonic in nature. ![]()
Hello, one of your audience here. I was just curious how things were coming along? Of course, if real life work is still keeping your focus on other things, I understand strongly and apologize for asking.
Hello!
I am still working on some things with Estheria, but pace is slow. Sadly, I spend more days than not glued to a floor ill from MS as of late. Enough so that all of my projects besides Estheria are halted in entirety, Estheria is the only one that has any form of movement whatsoever.
I’ve pushed around some code to test pieces of combat, but I am working when I can on grinding together the narrative and the quest system. ![]()
EDIT: The only reason I haven’t provided an update truthfully is because I felt there wasn’t enough substantial and I didn’t want to ‘tease’ anything more because it felt like without a release date I was dangling a carrot with no way to eat it.
Thanks for the update, I hope you can get better as much as possible!
I’ve made the decision tonight to show a little bit more, consider it a ‘lore drop’.
Many of you have been openly interested in the aetherials, and this little scene will be present as you forge and choose a form and past in the InterDimensional Rift.
Have a good night. ![]()
Hi! I’m really looking forward to the game but I have a question, what is outbreaker like? And do we have to choose a subclass or no? And can mc be evil in the game??? That’s all! Hope you feel better soon!
Hello!
Thanks for the response! The Oathbreaker is one of two demonic subclasses that focus on a corruptive presence within your body tied to an ancient prophecy. You will utilize a mixture of heavy melee and shield combat, but have access to a variety of corruptive and twisted skills designed to sap life forces from enemies, apply extensive debuffs, and more.
As for being evil, there is a karma system within Estheria: A Realm Divided. Ultimately, choices made in all content (including Stories (Sidequests)) will have some level of impact on the world. Should these choices be witnessed by others, you will receive karma positive or negative, and it will have bearing on the plot and various actions you may take - as well as open the door for different pathways when it comes to RO characters and members of your party.
Wonderful writing, and this is just a prologue? This project is absolutely insane in a good way. I’ll wait any amount of time to see it in fruition. Keep up the good work and hope you feel better. Looking forward to more updates
Hey, everyone!
I am feeling a touch better than I was today, so I did a lot of project updates and reframing, and the one thing I’ve wrestled with for awhile was how people feel about being ‘pushed forward’.
Personally, I want you to be able to do the story at your own pace. To explore, to do side quests to your heart’s content.
However, that also… runs contrary to the below Story Teaser:
Obviously, we’re facing down a major war, but more than that, something dark is lurking in the shadows and as some of you may suspect, this story is going to be much larger than just a realmwide civil war. (Which is… ironic to me considering the original story that underwent a massive rewrite was literally just a realmwide civil war.)
Anyways, neither here nor there. This adds stakes to what we’re staring down. I am worried of a collapsed immersion should you not be prodded forward, but I also personally would hate to be prodded forward. The story should ultimately move at the player’s pace in an RPG given a breadth of content exists to touch.
That’s why this post is here. Because I am one person, and I acknowledge that. I am at a crossroads in development where I need to lock in whether people are prodded along, or if they’re allowed to play at their pace, because it will be a royal pain in the ass if I try to switch that/undo it later.
POLL TIME!
Do you want to be prodded along through the story by some form of ‘timer’ system that while fair-ish, would still force you forward. Or would you rather continue the main story at your own pace so you can interact with everything and live your life?
- Add the timer, push us forward.
- I want to go at my own pace, and would personally hate a timer.
Thanks all, have a great night.
Will I think it’s important to move things along and I understand people want to move at their own pace so how about this you add the timer but make us choice at the very start of the game if we want it or not if people who want challenge wants it they can leave it active and people who want freedom can choose to disable it
I truly appreciate you asking. Submitted my answer already but thought I would express gratitude for your consideration of the players’ experience.
Hello!
I understand that for sure. In my case, this is a question of limited development resource. If a community overwhelmingly wants one thing, developing the other for 5-10% of people comes at the cost of my limited resources.
It would require balancing the timing fragment, adding a ton of code throughout what will grow to be a massive project over time, and so if this poll holds (currently 100% against a timer) then I’m leaning against adding it.
Ultimately, I want to create something people enjoy, and I acknowledge I am but one person sadly.
My biggest hope is I can get more days like today where I am much less sick, for a reason.

Just so you know, it’s against the rules to have a thread in this section without a demo. If someone reports you for this, the thread might get locked. If that happens, you can temporarily post this in the “Interest Check” section until you get something up.
Hello!
I appreciate the concern. My hope would be for leniency as I originally did have a demo build that was lost during the dashingdon migration and I was already heavily in a rework.
And this is well known and documented in the thread history. That said. If needed. I would rush out the character creator if mods needed it.
