I did that but since my account is new it didn’t work.
First, delete or rename your public folder to something else.
Next, go to this link: https://www.dropbox.com/enable_public_folder
Now, you should be able to enable your public folder successfully.
Then, copy your files to the newly created public folder.
Right click on your index file and copy the public link.
