You have to have OVER 75 cruelty and be a hunter.
The author hasn’t yet lowered it to 60, at least not in the public demo.

After reading it more, I think this food issue is conflicted with how the story being told, in the beginning it was said MC was hunting in the area around Gavin Village ( stated explicitly by dragon hunter in their dialogue and letter ) it’s also what MC doing as stress relief apart from Flying and Cooped up in their house, during Festival with Gavin it also show that MC does eat as they remember the smell of the food during festival.
Yet now it’s stated that MC doesn’t need food and draw energy from the sun or moon, I am more of opinion that MC can still get energy from food rather than solely depend on sun or moon eating food is like secondary energy source in case sun and moon is unavailable like MC is in underground or something.
The story mentioned about the core is this monster core like in Isekai story where Monster do drop monster core when slain?

Given that scene at the mage tower, I’m wondering if what they’re really getting passively/from the sun is mana, and they don’t feel hungry because they’re so full of passive magic at the moment. Because you’re right, as a young (and we can assume constantly growing) dragon baby it is mentioned that you hunt. Very few animals hunt if they’re not hungry, because any hunt can cause injury to any predator. Even if later you only hunt for relaxation, that indicates to me that you do need food. I wonder what the consequences of not establishing any eating habits are, because I have a feeling that might come into play at some point.

It’s entirely depend on the lore and Author depiction of the world, is mana/magic is the same as life force or is mana/magic separate from life force, I am just seeing this as a matter of consistency.
But from the story itself so far it’s implying that Dragon kin do need to eat, but since MC is not regular Dragon Kin they may have different talent than regular Dragon kin or MC develop this talent after they’re awaken or grow up which entirely possible.
One of the torture listed in Dragon slayer encounter do suggest they weaken dragon kin by beating and starving them and then put this weakened individual to fight the recruit (which explain why the recruit is so arrogant during their point of view because they fight weakened version of dragon kin despite the story show Dragon slayer took heavy losses from the stormland dragon kin.).
I don’t have issue with this if author want to go that way, but I feel this ability maybe need further explanation in the story or be made clearer since when MC have this ability.

The dragon hunter THOUGHT you were hunting around the area since he saw lots of bandits (potentially dead or crippled) and a dragon NOT because you were actually hunting.

In my interpretation this seen as Dragon hunter come to visit that village because they found trace of our hunting ground or else how they find out we’re in the vicinity, hunter normally track animal when they hunt they left a mark or something, since we’re living at the mountain I thought it’s possible MC hunting the animal in the area to sustain themselves, maybe make some coins along the way of survival.

Dragon Hunter thinks we were hunting. In my case, he says, “It appeared that the dragon was hunting. But came to what appears as defense. No deaths and the injury sustained to the woman was sword.”
I never got any messages about eating, food requirements or where I am getting food. Nor did I catch the mage tower thing. I missed the mage tower. Darn.
Guess all that being talked about is the dragon kins that love to kill and hunt only paths.

Mildly triggered by this sun-eating thing, to be honest. And I can’t even ask to put it in warnings because it’s a very specific trigger. It’s impossible to have one for every case…

Nah I was having impression that MC do need to hunt and eat despite being kind and doesn’t do hurting human thingy, being alone in the forest at the mountain, hunting some squirrel to grill it or wild boar.
Standard survival stuff, I guess it just come out as a surprise to some, it’s rather mind boggling, no need for water no need for food, that’s extreme for living things.
Even plant need nutrition from land to be used in photosynthesis, it’s not like plants eating sunlight, they use sunlight to digest the nutrition, like how lizard need to sunbath to get their metabolism going.

I think the MC’s being a hunter is primarily for the animals’ hides (furs and leathers). Whether the MC eats the flesh of those games isn’t mentioned. But I agree that getting energy from sun and moon need to be elaborated more.
And as I’ve mentioned before. We dragons love golds because of the lovely energy we can draw from it, so yeah.

One a side thought…if not poison spit breath for an earth element…what about plant manipulation? Like the ability to grow and control plants. Then the mountain can go from a barren stormy mountain top to a sudden natural explosion of overgrown flora.
Future use could be killing enemies with vines or tree roots, or just tripping enemies up. Could even develop camouflage like ability when hidden within a natural setting like a forest.
Edit: Chlorokinesis. That’s what it’s called. Not all dragons have to have a breath type ability. Unless you want a breath of like…vines. Which would look gnarly. Would suit a brown or green scaled dragon.
