Donor: A Vampire Victim's Tale [GAME RELEASED!]

Yeah, befriending Charles is definitely its own separate path, and probably not worth doing so in the first play through IMHO. Really glad you enjoyed the game, and thanks so much for taking the time to give me your feedback! :grinning:

THANK YOU

There’s a sequel to the book, yes, which I’m happy to send people if they PM me their email address (one of these days I’ll put it back on Amazon, I’d just like a chance to make a few more edits first).

As far as a sequel to the game is concerned… probably not, but let’s see if I ever get around to publishing this one first :stuck_out_tongue:

My pleasure! Thank you for taking the time to read it!

  • When Richard was trying to convince Lenore to aid him in killing Charles, I seriously missed an option to agree to give Richard a hand on the basis of preventing the creation of another human-devouring vampire . Like, you know, she wouldn’t do it for Richard or for herself, but for people in general.

Love this idea - I’ll add it to my list of edits for the final draft. Can’t promise it’ll make it in (will have to reexamine the flow of conversation, etc) but I’ll do my best! It’s a great opportunity for a humanity stats increase.

  • I managed to get the escapist ending. My question is - should Lenore really have children, given the hereditary sickness that runs in her family and that she’s very well aware of? As soon as I remembered this was happening, the ending suddenly felt a lot less happy.

I was going to write back with a very personal answer that delved into the enormous shadow cancer has cast over my own life (and why I had children anyway), and then I remembered my favorite quote about motherhood, which sums up my perspective better than my own words ever could:

“Motherhood is the biggest gamble in the world. It is the glorious life force. It’s huge and scary — it’s an act of infinite optimism.” – Gilda Radner

Please don’t worry about Lenore. Her kids will be just fine, even if they do carry the gene :relaxed:

Thanks so much  I get so many complaints about this story not being a romance - it’s always nice to hear from readers who appreciate the darker side of vampire fiction.

OH GOOD  I’m always striving for tension, glad the ending didn’t disappoint!

Romance has its fanatics among the community but what I am impressed by is an author that sticks with her vision.

By sticking with your vision, you have given us a great story.

Knowing how terrible Richard and Paul are, and how terrified Lenore is throughout the game, I cannot see how Lenore can romance them.

I agree, I was playing more as the crafty “try to convince them that I like them (or at least am a model prisoner) when I’d actually be out of there like a shot if they accidentally left the door open” kind of thing. Richard’s pretty scary- Lenore’s more like a replacable pet to him through much of the game, and Paul’s very manipulative (albeit in a charasmatic kind of way at times.) But yeah, I wouldn’t be trying to romance either of them myself.

I like how you’ve gone down the route of predatory vamps rather than the more recent popular culture misunderstood kind. (They kind of remind me of Lestat at times. Can appear to charasmatic, but ultimately bad for humans (and even other vamps that are supposedly meant to be his friends if the situation is right) due to his nature.)

Aw that is so kind of you to say

It would be a very different story, that’s for sure.

Interesting that you should say that. Would you believe these characters are loosely based on Louis and Lestat?

Oooh you see i read that scene in bait and genuinely beleived him to be serious. Rich we gotta work on your joke telling skills. a vat of acid with my name on it is not how its done! :joy:

All humor aside tho, its great and i love it and clearly other people do too. And who knows, maybe one day i’ll actually finish that fanfic xD

Oh, Rich is quite serious, he just isn’t motivated by anger :relaxed:

At the rate I’m going, you’ll probably be finished before I am :joy:

Love that, Cruel, Dark, but with feel…i loved the Movie “Let the Right on in” and the Ending with Rich gave me feeling back again. Not all vampires must be nice.

That’s such a huge compliment - I’m a big fan of that film myself

Yeah no, I think I’m gonna have to disagree here because this was terrifying xD
Not in a horror movie way, but in a more realistic way. The stockholm syndrome and such.

I usually never play gender-locked games, but I gave this a try and found it to be amazing! The mc wasn’t two dimensional… wide eyed victim-y girl, she was a survivor. Basically, if I could run someone like Lenny Busker through a game, I’d call it a well good representation for female mcs. And I could in this one!

But try to ramp up the ratings/warnings a bit? It’s darker than you seem to think it is.

Lol sorry 'bout that. I was worried true horror fans would be disappointed if I didn’t add a disclaimer. But I can revise the warnings a bit…

 YEEEES. I’M A HUUUUGE LENNY BUSKER FAN!

Thanks so much for giving this game a try in spite of your misgivings! I’m hoping to have some additional updates/revisions coming soon

It’s funny, I had a dream that this game was released. I think it’s time to replay the game.
