On the plus side - and I realize this is a personal preference - I find getting different chars that are not part of standard keyboard of your language much more convenient to get on a mobile device. So as long as you’re comfortable enough in your coding without having to test it all the time, it’s not actually that bad, beyond the touchscreen keyboard awkwardness. (My tablet is too small for touch typing comfortably - I hurt my wrists if I do that too long, because the angle is wrong - but it is actually doable too, especially if your screen is big enough.)
I wrote my first draft on DroidEdit, code and all. No problems really! A computer is better in some ways, but with the phone, you can write on the go. It’s a shame really, I wish I could use both, but the synchronization is a hassle.
I do my testong through online CSIDE. I actually only use the online version. (For whatever reason my virus protector is convinced that CSIDE app is some kind of virus.
) I’ve found online to have everything I need it for.
I would never use my phone though. I just hate typing on my phone at all. I don’t even like sending trxts that are too long because i hate phoen keyboards. ![]()
I’ve seen a few people manage bits of ChoiceScript writing on their phones, usually for quick edits or drafting dialogue on the go, but when it comes to larger projects it’s almost always smoother on a laptop or desktop. Phones can feel cramped once you’re dealing with branching structures and testing. That said, the important factor isn’t the device but whether you can keep your files organized and backed up. In a world of data leaks and strict regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), developers ensure your systems are secure, compliant, and trustworthy, which is why many eventually look into collaborating with experienced Game devs for hire to bring their ideas to life. Still, for pure writing, nothing stops you from using a mobile keyboard if that’s what keeps the words flowing.
