I loved the original demo and so far I’m loving the revision even more. But I think I ran into some kind of bug. I have Learned at 80 but then when I choose to save cultural treasures it instantly drops to 40 and I fail.

Just a suggestion, I feel like there should be more opportunities to boost your stats; the best I could do was one stat at 80, one stat at 60, and one stat at 55, which turned out to be disastrous in chapters 5 and six, especially when certain choices will only work with a single Stat. The confrontation between the humans and the dwarves at the armory in chapter 6 is an example of what I’m talking about
Loving this soo much! Definitely like the new version! Hoping I can delve more into bone scrying, hoping to be able to bring it back to the orc kingdom! The only problem I noticed is gaining the silent spell even if I didn’t read or get the book of Elvin magic. Also will we be able too learn more of our cultures magic? Cause I plan I saving every bit of my characters lost culture as much as possible.
@Shadyaddams Definitely. I’m hoping to thread more opportunities to learn each culture’s magic throughout, but also in a later chapter, you will have an opportunity to meet a true scryer and make some choices about their role in the empire.
Ooooo! Meeting a true scryer would be awesome. And a rare opportunity! I just love the world you’ve built soo far! It’s soo interesting! Will this be a series? There’s just soo much in the world that needs fixed, that I feel like It’d need a couple books. First one mainly fighting the Queen. But definitely need to try to help everyone rebuilt and the racial/cultural conflicts.
We’ll see how things go, but currently I want the book to be a satisfying experience in and of itself. As you observed, there are a lot of conflicts in this realm; depending on your playthrough, some of them will come to a head and get resolved and some of them won’t. Others might get resolved only to leave some new conflicts in their wake. But I think that’s pretty true to life, and everything will at least be in a different state from how it started.
Your actions are going to change the ending for each of the cultures of the realm quite radically, so if I tell more stories in this world, a lot of thought will have to go into how to respect all those potential endings without becoming unmanageable. At minimum, I would love to do some more small stories in this world and let players go on one last classic dungeon delve with their (surviving) party members.
I played through this demo for the first time a couple evenings ago, and I’m wondering if you could tell us how you pronounce the names of the major characters and locations? I know it’s really up to the reader, since you haven’t included a pronunciation guide, but I can’t help being curious about how well the way I pronounce your proper nouns in my head lines up with what you had in mind.
First off, I wanted to thank you very much for the typos and issues you caught! Unfortunately the volume of text in the game, number of places multireplaces are being used, and my ADHD causing me to jump to another sentence before I’ve finished the current one all make for a perfect storm for those sorts of text issues, so I really appreciated the thorough read.
In terms of proper nouns, the way I pronounce them in my head is:
Major characters:
Anattho: Aw-nuh-toe.
Khattya: more or less the way it’s typically pronounced, “Kaw-chyaw”
Vid/Vidius: Vi-dee-us.
Okka: Like Aww-ka.
Cora: as typically pronounced.
Nidana: Nih-dawn-a.
Devatta: Day-va-da.
Od: Like “Ode”.
Major places:
Kanda: Kawn-duh.
Tiro: Tea as in the drink, row as in what you do with a boat.
Hichinaka: Hee-chee-naw-kuh.
Aum: Awm.
Vayya: Vie-uh.
Varaja: like “mirage” with an “ah” at the end.
Okay, I got all the place names and most of the character names right, but I was waaaaaay off on Anattho, Devatta, and (my favorite character) Khattya!

I’m going to be honest, I really can’t get behind a lot of those pronunciations, but I guess that’s a benefit of having the game be text-only.
Ha, that’s fair! The pronunciations I have in my head are very caught up in the little bits of real languages I’ve mixed around and based things on, or the internal rules I’ve made for human/dwarven/elven/orc languages and the stuff that they’ve nicked from each other.
But I wouldn’t expect that stuff to translate to anyone else, and since we don’t have the technology to send me into everyone’s homes to read over their shoulders (yet), I’d encourage everyone to read them all however makes the most sense to them.
I’m actually a big language nerd, so I wish I could delve deep into all that stuff! And I love that you’ve put so much thought into it.
