No, if you randomise it there’s always a chance that there will be non-binary characters. You can choose in advance for all the variable characters to be female, male, or non binary. Or you can choose the variable characters’ genders as you play - it’ll be very clear when those choices come up. The latter option may be most to your taste.
Me, a couple of playthroughs in: Damn looks like I’m a pro at seducing huh
Hartmann: Hold my wine
Seriously I did not expect them to give me that much trouble while wooing them, but boy was the payoff worth it. (Though I guess it didn’t help that I was trying to romance them as a Starling, but I’m a sucker for opposites attract)
A few questions for those who’ve played Hart Ann’s route - narrative wise, does anything change much depending on if you’ve nudged them to become more rebellious vs more proper? Like with Max getting them to propose depended on encouraging them to be more steady. In my playthroughs where I tried to bring out Hartmann’s inner rebel, they did apply to Gessner against their parents wishes, but that’s all I saw Though I’m pretty sure I missed/failed a ton of chances to up rebelliousness.
Second, anyone knows which stats correspond to the above choices with him?
I think the first one is rebellious, second is proper. Have never picked 3 and 4, so I don’t know how they influence him.
Thank you so much! I love your game, please write more charming romance stories!
Being more rebellious makes them more assertive. Most of the slight changes in narration and dialogue read, to me at least, as them being more comfortable with themselves and what they want, as opposed to trying to fulfill others’ expectations. (It was good and I loved it.)
Those choices actually don’t affect either your or Hartmann’s stats at all.
Just want to say thank you for this story.
I really love it, one of the best I read recently.
I cannot wait to see a sequel or an other story from you.
Just wanted to say i enjoyed this game, it really put you in the mindset of a privleged college noble.
I loved Hartmann and her storyline, like at first i just went after her because she sounded pretty, was responsible, had a thing for her "“type” and would be have many practical benefits to marry, but i genuinely liked being there for her when her responsibilities and parents were going to crush her. Im now confident that she’ll be able to escape her parent’s crushing expectations once she graduates and officially marries.
About the whole school conspiracy though I found it odd that she only had one guard, Schroener, to watch her mine filled with people she sent away. You’d think a place like that so close to civilization would have tougher security. Still, it was satisfying to ruin her.
There was also if my stats occasionally going from noteworthy to commonplace was intended. I found it somewhat annoying tbh.
Thank you!
I don’t think Schroeder is the only guard. She just seems responsible for keeping Karson in line, and making sure the students get to the mines. The forepeople probably don’t know/don’t care where the new workers came from, or are being paid well for their silence/enforcement. The career miners are also probably generally hostile to the indentured students (remember that until recently, most of these students were snotty and disdainful to them), if they even know the students’ story. Plus there are probably other people making sure that they don’t run for it when the miners are on break/mingling with Gallatin townsfolk.
There are probably more people in on it in the mines - I’d imagine most of a foremen are, because someone must have fed the lie that the Gallatin kids are criminals working off their sentence to the rest of the career miners, and I don’t think Lady R would do it herself. Schroeder just seems like hired muscle who’s utilized as a go between due to her not obviously being linked to the mines/Lady R at first glance. I also headcanon that not many people have escaped because it’s very easy to turn the other miners into unintentional prison guards - just offer a handsome reward to anyone who manages to drag an escaping ‘criminal’ back to the mines, and suddenly everyone is keeping an eye on the newcomers hoping for a payday.
This error keeps popping up, this is my second playthrough and the second time this has happened this has also happened with other games. Also, can I ask WHY isn’t it available in my country?
@BrainJuice Please can you send that screenshot to the support email address. Thanks!
Still playing the game! I think there’s some kind of error, I romanced (Emily) Karson twice but the game didn’t recognise the achievement. Also that romance is super sweet!
Also, looking at the cover art for the game, who do you think is pictured?
From left to right, I‘m thinking they are Delacroix, Blaise, Hartmann, Freddie, Gonzalez and Max.
I think Delacroix, Gonzales, Blaise, Felix, Hartman… can’t figure out the last girl on the right!
Go with their description…their hair, clothes, body colour (dark/pale) and their behaviour.
Thank you for highlighting this, I think I’ve found the issue and have submitted corrected files to CoG. I’m so glad you enjoyed playing the game, and that you liked the Karson romance!
Just got done with my “evil” run, unfortunately Karson broke up with me at the end ;-;
Maybe I’ll try romancing her on a run where I don’t literally manipulate everybody lmao
Yep, that always happens if you take that route I’m afraid! Karson doesn’t want to be with someone who’s been that evil. Hope you enjoy romancing them on future playthroughs!
I am pleasantly surprised I managed to romance Blaise with 30 % relationship lol
While replaying the Hartmann route I was surprised during the ‘future plans’ section, where everyone’s discussing where to go after graduation. I normally help her out so she can score an A, but this time instead of accepting the teaching job at Gallatin, she decides to be bold and apply to Gessner University.
I’ve tried playing again and can’t seem to recreate this mini-achievement, does anyone have any hints what to do to trigger this scene?
