Community College Hero 3: All Things End (One Last Try in 2025!)

Welcome back! You may or may not recall me as one of your biggest supporters from your former Patreon, Artemis. And I am here to say the following:

Lies and slander. Loads of us have remained huge fans. You did not remotely disappoint me; I fully understand life and wellbeing comes first. But I never stopped believing in you as a writer either. And never will.

@Eric_Moser So glad to see you back! (as somebody who also struggles trying to find time to write, and with life/work balance). Missed having you around! (again, even when I am only half-around myself).

I first played CCH when the second game released and I’ve been holding out hope you’d find the time at some point to complete the series, so I’m absolutely ecstatic to hear you’re working on the third game. As someone who just recently finished university I wish your oldest the best of luck!

Just wanted to pop in and join the chorus in regards to definitely not having moving on from these games! Like many, CCH was one of my first games and I couldn’t be more thrilled with this news! Good luck and thank you so much for brightening my day!

Awesome! I never stopped hoping you would come back one of these days. Believe me, you still have tons of fans here who have been hoping this day would come!

I understand your not wanting to be on the forum all the time - your real life and your actual writing have to take priority. But I hope you will stop by the pet thread occasionally and let us know how Oskar and Olive are doing.

AletheiaKnights and I was just mentioning CCH a few days ago and I said that I wished that there would have been a way for it to be completed and lo and behold here you are. CCH is one of my all time favorite games ever. I am so glad that you will be finishing it.

We should get our names in the credits as “Mavens of Manifestation.” :joy: :joy: :joy:

Yes! Super excited for the demo. Super excited to see how my hero’s journey continues, and how he ended up in the situation with the Diabolical Dozen, in the first book.

Definitely not forgotten about this series. Always hoped you’d continue writing it.

Speaking only for myself here, but I’m totally on the side of humans. AI can copy, but it can’t imagine.

AletheiaKnights You’re right we should, who needs those stupid 80’s Psychic infomercials when they have us to predict that CCH was in the near future!!

Honestly? With repeated rulings that you can’t copyright AI works, “the new AI age” is dead in the water. When people do it themselves they might be doing it for love of the game, so the profit is less important, but if you’re AI-generating content your interest is going to be on profiting off of it and “no copyright” shoots that in the face and sets the corpse on fire, for funsies.

So even if a possible lack of consumer interest won’t put a stop to the trend once the novelty wears off, the uselessness of it for the purpose the people behind it would like will.

Honestly, I’ve been skeptical about the application of AI / LLM’s / LRM’s since the beginning. They’re effectively just autocorrect on steroids. Apple did a really interesting technical paper on this here: https://ml-site.cdn-apple.com/papers/the-illusion-of-thinking.pdf

They took Claude 3.7 Sonnet, one of the beefier LRM’s out there and fed it a few puzzle games such as Tower of Hanoi and the River Crossing game from a children’s puzzle book. It was able to solve Tower of Hanoi in a perfect 31 moves, however the River Crossing puzzle broke it. On investigation, Claude was only able to solve Tower of Hanoi because it’s a super popular puzzle used in the tech space to test programs and is everywhere on the internet.

Long story short, AI as we know it cannot actually reason, it can only regurgitate whatever it’s been fed. When applied to the creative space (such as IF’s) it’s just going to pump out soulless slop and garbage.

Anyhoo, I agree! Big props to actual creatives still gutting it out in the face of the machine that cannot create new things.
