Is reviving Origami a mid game goal?
@Eric_Moser
I was wondering why we start the third part at Prestige?
I donât remember any mention of changing schools at the end of the second part, so I wonder why we end up there.
All those mid games objectives are âHelp someoneâ, I think we need more variety. My character is Self/Retribution, so all those help another person are unnatractive options.
At the end of the second game, we move to prestge.
I do need to check to see if the transition to Prestige is smooth enough. It might not be. And in the ârealâ version of the game, Iâll definitely offer a recap.
@Urban, I think the issue is that the mid-game goals are sort of like âside adventuresâ that are designed to add depth to the playerâs experience, but that wonât affect the main plot. So if you can think of examples of more âretributionyâ side adventures that would stand on their own, feel free to toss some out there.
The âhelp so-and-soâ mid-game goals are good because they: A) have a specific thing you need to accomplish, B) help wrap up loose ends from the previous installment, and C) because whether you succeed or fail, the main plot will move ahead either way.
@Frogs, Origamiâs fate will be revealed toward the very end, and the playerâs previous feelings will decide what happens, which will also affect the Manipulatorâs fate.
@Dread_Dragon, I think DG/Crook is possible, as is Tress/Crook, and to be honest, I could even see a Tress/DG possibility. Stoic is tougher because, well, sheâs so removed and quiet, and Stunner didnât have as much time with the group. I could maybe see Crook/Synergy too, in the opposites attract type of way. This idea would mostly be a way to reward players who want to âshipâ one of these potential parings.
Never really though about it but synergy and stunner would be a hell of an interesting thing. I know it probably wonât happen but hey if you donât like you donât like and I donât think many see it the way I do. They arenât necessarily opposite like crook and synergy but there relatively close in the sense of use of force. But Iâd really love to get into crooks back story. My favorite playthrough my Mc and crook hated each other and by the end of book two we were best buds.
Altruism and Selfishness are internal motivations, so maybe the solution here is to not just give you the option of what to do, but also give you the option to establish why youâre doing it. Just because youâre doing something apparently altruistic doesnât mean youâre doing it for selfless reasons.
For instance, are you finishing the hospital playroom because itâs what Origami would have wanted, or because youâve already had an article written about you visiting sick kids and this is further good publicity?
Do you want your mom to start dating again because you want her to be happy, or because sheâs a Taskmaster and distracting her with a new man seems like a great way to get her off your ass?
Are you helping The Hedonist recover because you care about him, or because youâve pursued his Mentorship and keeping him around - and relevant - is a means to secure your future? Or maybe because you want to expose him, but donât feel right about doing it while heâs still wounded (or donât want him to be able to use his battle injuries for sympathy)?
You can be selfish and manipulative while doing allegedly altruistic and kind things - itâs all about motivation.
Speck was heavily damaged after the battle with Manipulator, and in the epilogue we heard that Prestige was doing some kind of Strategic partnership with our school.
Eeeehhhhh. Itâd take a lot for me to buy that one since the two of them have been so diametrically opposed to each other throughout the entire trilogy. Especially after the âFog bitchâ comment from part 2, which I donât think Tress ever apologized for.
Also what about a mid-game goal to recover or recreate some of Wyvernâs equipment? It could even tie-in a Combat Wombat cameo if heâs still alive.
I always thought Tress and Stunner would hook up if the MC never interfered with either of them.
For me, Tress and Crook definitely made the most sense, but I think that was because I chose to study Secrets with them frequently so saw him hit on her more often. Also because Crook didnât antagonize her unnecessarily like DG, but wasnât unwilling to speak out against her in the second game. Tress for her own part seemed pretty ruthless in an underhanded way so the appeal/respect of their mutual willingness to do what it takes is there.
These are great takes imo. Helping Stoic get her powers back could be framed as the Selfish MC doing it only to maximize their own chance of survival.
@Eric_Moser one selfish mid game goal could be about maximizing your Yay stat, even if it comes at the cost of the other students and professors. Being a whistleblower for any unsavory Prestige practices would fit in with this. Itâd also be a good way to bring Rycleif or Tolliver back into the story. MCs could even justify it as ruthless or altruistic, depending on their reasons for whistleblowing
Iâm of the opinion that, in a universe where the MC doesnât exist, itâs Tress/Stunner and Crook/Dirty Girl.
Or you could do it because youâre trying to SMASH.
Stoic is love, Stoic is life
If Iâm allowed, your previous goals list was more exciting⌠but yes itâs still good enough.
Aside for playing match-maker (both mum and Speck 7):
-
this is not a heavy romance story and there are already too many subplot even for a third part trilogy;
-
you have never hinted any attraction among Speck 7 (aside an one-side crush C-Wom/Tress), so it would be come out of nowhere, even more so with mum dating either a cast member or new character
-
the only close relationship beetween Speck 7 members is Crook/DG, which looks more an old mentor and sidekick relationship.
PS I will post CCH3 feedback on patreon once I will have read trough more, the story itâs getting wider and my free time shorter
Okay, these comments over the past couple of days have been very helpful! Sometimes brainstorming out loud is just the right medicine.
As @Rinnegato said, the story is getting wider, and thatâs fine, but I need to reign in any of my instincts to let this get too unwieldy, and I need to remind myself that I can sprinkle in some extra stuff once the draft is done.
Okay, Iâm disappearing for a week or two so I can push another update.

I was just wondering why there wasnât a superpower path to choose from because at the beginning, the character already gets an ability. I also speculate that maybe the choives the MC has been dreaming to have from childhood might be an extra superpower.
This question has come up a few times if you want to do the daunting task of scrolling for it. But the short of it is that the dreams were red herrings, and there arenât separate power routes because that would unbalance the paths and add way too much branching which could get out of control.
Guys can I ask how did hedonist die anyway? Does he die if I send him to support captain goldie? Or does he die if he stays with us? I need some answers I canât seem to find a path where he dies
This.
I wonder if weâll will travel in the Zone at some point?
At the end of part 2 we were given a choice of how we could use the Zone, so I hope we will get to fulfil this choice.
