how?

You probably need to get your intense score up. E.g. make sure you’re very competitive.

Yup, exactly that. To be precise:

  *selectable_if ((intense > 55) or (player_rank = "No. 7")) #Hell yeah it matters.

If MC didn’t make the team yet they get a freebie, otherwise they need to have demonstrated some actual desire to excel.

I’m rly enjoying the game but I’m more of a story mode person, would u consider having difficulty level settings so we can focus more on the story?

That’s what beast mode is

Before each match you have option to enable/disable what’s effectively ā€œstory modeā€ which guarantees MC will pass all match checks, no matter their actual stats. The phrase for this mode is unleashthekraken

i wonder is it possible be just lazy about our tennis carrer and losing on purpose would it affect us?

In the beginning if you lose to Emerson, you’ll have to play with Max and no matter what, you’ll always end up beating Max which leaves the MC at number 6 position in the team and therefore you’ll also get selected to play the doubles and stuff.

This is not exactly true. While match with Max has fairly low skill checks (24-26) you can in fact lose it and wind up ranked 7th and in reserve.

  *if (won_max)
//...
  *else
    *set Rayyan_rank "No. 1"
    *set Tobin_rank "No. 2"
    *set Deepal_rank "No. 3"
    *set Jacks_rank "No. 4"
    *set Emerson_rank "No. 5"
    *set Max_rank "No. 6"
    *set Player_rank "No. 7"
    *set Akimi_rank "No. 8"
    *set Lee_rank "No. 9"
    *set Blake_rank "No. 10"
From what you've surmised: Tobin beat Deepal, Jacks beat Emerson, Max beat you, and Akimi beat Lee. This means that since you'd lost to the other freshman, Max is the only freshman who'd made it into the top 6.

oh nice thats looks like a fun playtrough gonna try it out thanks for the answers

Does anyone know what stat you need to be nice and talk to ESU player first time after beating him haha

iirc you need to have been polite at the start of the match

Thank you

Oh thank you so much. I always thought that Max beating us is impossible since I’ve tried to lose a lot of times but to no avail.

honestly, this is probably the IF that I’ve played the MOST here… I think I’ve gone through it like… 3 times?
shockingly, my favorite part is by far the tennis section. My first attempt, I was like ā€œI’m gonna put everything in tactics!ā€ And proceeded to lose every match because of low endurance. So when I tried again for the new update, I FOCUSED on endurance, while training strength and agility, and won every match!
It genuinely made me feel like I did something, despite literally playing an interactive fiction- all that to say, it’s pretty immersive!

I’m someone who isn’t at all into sports and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I’m enjoying this game. The characters are well written, the team dynamics are fun, just all around a good time. The whole time I’ve been playing I’ve had that song from Top Gun ā€œplaying with the boysā€ playing in my head lol.

A good friend of mine has talked before about the homoerotic appeal of sports anime and I’ve always been like ā€œbut what if you don’t like sports.ā€ I get it now.

Excited to try romancing other characters (especially Tobin; my first MC went for Rayyan), and to experiment with other play styles. Tempted to go back and keep tweaking my first MC’s play style as well; she’s a D&D character by birth and negotiating the relationship between her approach to high fantasy combat and her approach to tennis is an art and a science to me.

To lose matches on purpose I need to play to my mc’s bad agility stat and his moderate endurance, however even so losing to Max is basically a toss-up but I have managed it.

I’m really liking the new content and how it’s shaping up!

But I do have some criticism. later in the story the MC doesn’t have much flavor text for their personality anymore! Earlier in the game you’re able to play a moody or stoic MC, and you’re able to avoid hanging with the hall mates by skipping group lunches or parties(other than freshman orientation). But in the newer content (mostly the fall festival, but the Halloween party also suffers from this to some extent) there isn’t much flavor text for a stoic/shy/unfriendly MC and your MC is defaulted to friendly/playful. It kinda took me out of the story sometimes when my stoic hardass MC was giggling and cackling with the hall mates, who they’d been mostly neglecting before the outings.

Plus, it would be nice to have an option to stay and rest at home instead of going to the fall activities at all, especially since around this part of the story is when the MC is struggling to keep their condition up. BUT- the condition thing may be part of the story? Idk if the MC is supposed to be tired by this point, but I think if so it should be explained better why they are tired and why they AREN’T spending the weekends resting when we’d been able to do that the prior weeks in the story. The weekends are just skipped and the condition doesn’t raise at all.

Other than these things, I’m still really liking this IF! It’s in my top 5 for sure and I’ve been following it for years

Mind you, while participating in the fall festival, checking out food stalls will give you a good chunk of condition back (rough equivalent of a rest) On the other hand checking out the maze is a bit tiring, but grants you Endurance point. So you can pick between these as it suits your MC.
