The latest special offers include Choice of the Cat. I thought it might be fun to play together with my almost 10-year-old daughter. Does the game include any topics that might make me reconsider this idea?
There are some grim things to come up, usually at the hands of the neighbor. If your kid can understand concepts of death, though, you’re fine
I found it rather appropriate, humorous, and friendly I would say, but this is from memory. There wasn’t any violence, outside of like cat stuff, and I don’t recall much swearing (but don’t just take my word for it) There’s some not so subtle nods that another cat is abused or treated rather poorly (MeltingPenguins beat me to it), but mostly it’s a fun romp about a stray adjusting to home life.
There’s also a brief, non-descriptive mention of sex between the cat MC’s owners that mainly has the vibe of a cheeky joke similar to what you might see in The Incredibles or other children friendly programming with adult audiences in mind. I can’t recall exactly how vague it is, but I do know it shouldn’t be anything older kids can’t handle. Regarding younger children, no small chance it’d pass over their heads. There’s no specific details as I remember it, and it’s one of those short scenes you could miss entirely if you’re not paying attention, though I did play a while ago.
I haven’t played it yet, but I remember hearing about something fairly gruesome involving a chainsaw???
If you make some incredibly specific choices you can iirc kill the neighbour by creating a chainsaw accident. But this is not something you’re going to stumble across randomly, I had to look at the code for every choice I made to meet all the prerequisites.
I wouldn’t honestly think twice about letting a child play the game, it’s apart from that a very cute and wholesome game. The event isn’t described in detail.
Thank you everybody, this was very helpful! I’ll introduce her to the game/story tomorrow or over the weekend. Looking forward to exploring this game together with her!
