Choice of Rebels: Uprising — Lead the revolt against a bloodthirsty empire!

He sge is or dead or exiled as I said our relationship is pure hatred stilk i have lacinniers in my group and Direct help from them.

@poison_mara ohhh now I see why you were saying. But that could also just mean she fell out of the Laconniers good graces before the Fourth Harrowing after all her name was called in the Harrowing.

I don’t stop harrowing i am put in jail and laconnier NOBLE AS ALL ARE NOBLESsave me killing the guards.
Is Breden Noble? No. She he cannot be a laconnier. A noble secret group protecting the old blood . Can’t be a helot

It does seem a little far fetched that Breden’s light treatment at the hands of the Hegemony and the MC’s cousins if you fail to stop the Harrowing would be related to the Laconnier conspiracy…

While I can’t really say who Breden exactly is I have my suspicions they’re not exactly who they seem to be. Spy seems most likely, but I can’t really decide if it’d be for Hegemony or Halassur,
In a way Halassur would be more likely cause Breden might think that helping them to spread sedition in Hegemony would slowly crumble the Thaumatarch’s rule…but I don’t think they ever planned a full-blown rebellion.
There were these really interesting scenes I got when tried different playthroughs…
Like when mc has possibility to break down in tears after winter and you have Breden as a deputy they’ll try to comfort you if you confide in them. And when the mc says “When you first kill someone…” Breden noticeaply tenses up and says after few minutes “I’d give anything to forget about it.” And I’m just sitting there and thinking “Now who could helot have possibly killed without being first suspected of it?”
Did Breden have something to do with their former masters death? So many questions…

Other interesting scene was in chapter 3 if you took de Firiac as a hostage and then later Horion and Linos. When Hector kills your allies and you decide to kill de Firiac as a warning, Breden is mention to have this unusual calculating look in his face and he insists to mc that killing de Firiac would not be enough cause they are already seen as a traitor by rest of the nobles, but also killing Horion and Linos would be much stronger message. I mean for someone who was quite insistent that they shouldn’t fight against Hegemony forces, killing Linos, Horion and de Firiac seems oddly strong move against Archon who of course will send more soldiers against them when she hears of Horion’s death.

Sorry of my writing seems bit confusing

IDK the other motivation could simply be eliminating the Hegemony’s enemies and further isolating your rebellion from sources of aristocratic support. The simpler explanation is usually the right one.

Also why would a Halassur spy have a Hegemonic Kryptast code? Particularly one that is current and specifically related to their counterinsurgency operations in this remote backwater. Again the simpler explanation is that Breden works for the Hegemony.

The final matter to consider is why Breden would be motivated to betray the rebellion they were sent to foment if they are in fact working for Halassur?

I just remembered that in final battle it doesn’t matter if Breden is part of your bad or not the deputy still mentions the enemy knows too much about them, pointing out that traitor must have told them their allies and numbers…
And I m back to doubting if Breden is a spy or not.
Maybe he’s just a spy, but the traitor is someone else

I had suspected Joanna all along, there should be 2 kryptasp operating here, Joanna had been in the family far too along… i suspect she was the one who poison the rebel and betray Bredan 's meeting place in the earlier chapter…
If you read carefully Bredan said she suspect the traitor is one of the elder

The poisoning only occurs if Breden is in the band though. If you chalk that up to coincidence then I don’t really know how to help you insurgent…

Since poisoning only happens if Breden is part of band it’s hardly a coincidence
I’m thinking that either the traitor if it’s not Breden is trying to frame them to divert attention from trying to find any other spies and since some people suspect Breden already they’d be perfect. Or if the poisoner is Breden they probably think they don’t have any choice?
Honestly I can’t begin to guess motives

I think the simple explanation is probably that Brenden is Kryptast or one of their agents and was tasked with starting a rebellion in order to justify an excessive blood harvest of Rim Square and solidify the Hegemony’s control of the area by putting the fear of a helot rebellion in the heart of the local elites.

That plan clearly backfired…but it’s why poisoning is a great choice because it merely incapacitated half of the MC’s force at the 11th hour. Still quite suitable for conversion from labor to capital.

It is even hinted in game that such revolts are a necessary part of the current political order by Horion and Linos.

I have no Breden and have no issue except the crazy guy that attacks me for no reason due I don’t lost any soul and have food in stock and they don’t fight. I have no poisoning no leadership problems… It is like Heaven. With Breden all is political turmoil poisoning and other rebels fight each other. The difference is like Night and Day. So only conclusion is Breden Is something that wants our fall. Or the fall of other people. She is not innocent.

Edit Also if The traitor is not Breden he should attack me if she is not there. Remember in my reality there is not Breden and never was part of the rebellion. So It should attacked anyway.

(Sigh) if we had a second female love interest, I wouldn’t even be reading this debate on her motivation. I’d just kill her. It’s obvious she’s a double agent but to what ends? It doesn’t matter when I get my next lover, breden will die.

You know If you made Breden male. Simon or the helot companion are set as female. They are always the contrary gender of Breden. So just pick a male Breden and romance the other girl companion …

I do know that. Trust me, I’ve played rebels so much, that I won the battle with a 2 combat MC. The problem is they come too late. Truthfully you only get at most two scenes with either.

Goodness this thread is long! As XOR threads always tend to be.

I always come back to this game. No matter how many zillion times I played it during testing, it’s still my favorite CoG to come back to and it never gets old. The setting is just so fun and the options so varied.

That said, I do love my main MC: low anarchy cosmopolitan CHA aristo. A believer in what the Hegemony could be, if governed justly with an ideology of euergetism (think of the high Roman Empire here — ruled by aristocrats obligated to perform public service for the poor).

Quite possibly what Karagond may have believed itself, in the old city-state era.

Edit: oh and as for the current topic, my MC doesn’t trust Breden at all. De Firiac all the way. Nobles have a sense of decency, you know.
